Giants Can Make Playoffs NEXT SEASON If They Make These Moves
Welcome back to with the first pick. On this edition of the perfect fix, we are fixing the New York Football Giants. So, it’s easy to forget that five season stretch from 2007 to 2011 when the Giants won two Super Bowls, both times beating the Brady Bichc Patriots uh in the 14 season since just two playoff appearances, 11 losing seasons, and seven different head coaches. How could the Giants get out of this tail spin? Perpetual losing football. We’re here to help. I’m Ryan Wilson. That’s former Titans GM Ran Carthon. Ran, let’s get to it. So, as we do this perfect fix, the Giants are currently 211 heading into week 15 and they have started two and 11 or worse in consecutive seasons for the first time in franchise history. The last time they made the playoffs, 2022, Brian Dable’s first year’s head coach. In the three seasons since, they have combined for 11 wins. By the way, if you’re a Giants fan watching this, let us know what you think the biggest needs are in the comments and what you want this team to do this offseason to be a legit playoff contender. All right, as we sit here heading into week 15, they got the number one overall pick ran in the 2026 NFL draft. We’ll see how that plays out. There’ll be some players up for free agency. And uh let’s start there. Some players that are going to be free agents names like Russ Wilson, Germaine Elum, Elinor, excuse me, the left tackle, excuse me, the right tackle, Evan Neil, former first round pick. Couple of interior offensive lineman Wel Robinson. So, let’s start there. What are we going to do in terms of free agency? Yeah, I mean I would I wouldn’t mind bringing back um bringing Germaine back at right tackle. I think he’s played solid uh this year. Um so I I would look to see what that number is going to be as well as uh Juell Robinson. You talk about draft developing resigning your own. I think he’s he fits that mold. Now again, we got to see what the price is uh for for his style of receiver. Uh but those would be two guys off the top that I would for sure want to uh resign. And that makes sense because Juan Del has come on come into a zone with Malik Neighbors being out with the injury. Alan Minor has not been bad and they had some issues along the interior offensive line. We’ll talk about what that looks like in terms of draft needs addressing the interior offensive line and some other needs along the way. Uh the other thing, the elephant in the room as it were, Brian Dable got fired midway through the season. Joe Shane, the GM is still there. They both came in together in 2022. Uh Joe Joe Shane’s track record maybe is uh been portrayed worse than it actually is. But the reality is uh he’s been good at finding lowcost depth and and extensions to some players that have made sense. But he’s also been pretty bad at identifying sort of these mid-tier free agents uh especially along the offensive line and at wide receiver. So some guys that he signed that made sense, Bobby Okariki, uh OK, excuse me, the linebacker, he’s been really good. uh the extensions for Andrew Thompson and and Sexy Dexi uh Darius Sllayton Paulson Adbo and then you know the John Feliciano Mark Lewinsky signings Shane Lemieux signings all did not work out Paris Campbell the wide receiver didn’t work out as well and I know Giants fans are frustrated so first order of business what are we doing with Joe Shane GM because the issue becomes if you fire the coach keep the GM that you brought in together and then allow the GM to hire the next coach it feels like you’re just kicking the can forward and more half measures than just taking a clean cut. No. And I I understand that thought and that logic. And looking through Joe Shane’s draft classes that he’s had, he’s had four draft classes. This would be his fifth uh upcoming draft class. He’s drafted 13 starters um in his four draft classes with, you know, and and I didn’t count Deonte Banks as a starter because he’s currently not starting. Um however, I did count Abdul Carter. um as a starter because essentially he is with the amount that he plays even though Deontay Banks plays a lot. Um he’s drafted some some guys that have all um you know that have played well for him. Now it this is just the crapshoot of the draft. You know sometimes you’re going to have better drafts than others. That kind of is what it is. If you look at the 2024 draft class, their top four picks are all starters for them. you know, Malik Neighbors, Tyler Nuben, Andrew Phillips, Theo Johnson, and then the next pick in that draft class was Tyrone Tracy, who had a who had a great rookie year and would have would have had a was getting off to a pretty decent start to start this season. Then he got hurt and then we saw the emergence of Cam Scatterabo, so it wasn’t a much of a need there. But even saying that, you took Cam Scato in the fourth round. You feel like you got your starting running back. uh the year before you took Tyrone Tracy in the fifth round and you felt like you had a starting running back. So they found values. You have uh Cordell Flot from the 2022 draft class, a third round pick. That’s a starter. Dane Belton, he was a fourth round pick. Michael McFaten was a fifth round pick. Uh like I mentioned, Theo Johnson was a fourth round pick. So he’s found value uh in terms of the draft. And that’s been Joe Shane’s calling card throughout his career. he has been a college scout, an area scout. And so that was his, you know, that’s how he made his hay in this league. And so those some of those free agent signings, I don’t believe the Paris Campbell deal was was that big of a contract, um, so to speak, if I’m I’m just thinking off the top of my head. Um, but that sometimes you’re just going to have that in free agency. And not every single free agent pick that whether it’s good or bad comes down to the front office. Sometimes it’s who the who the coaches staff really want because they’ve had him somewhere before or they really value this guy. And sometimes that happens where you sign a guy that maybe the front office doesn’t love as much as the coaching staff does. Yeah. And and that’s the thing I I think Giants fans and I understand the frustration because there’s no excuse for this team to have played as poorly as they’ve had as they have over the last 10 seasons uh post Eli Manning in those Super Bowl runs. But when you look at the Joe Shane, Brian Dable drafts, they’ve actually been pretty good. And I know in the moment, we certainly like the 2025 draft when we did the the immediate draft grades. Uh, and even going back to 2022, I think the issue when fans get frustrated is some of the free agent signings that haven’t worked out in the off the line just being in disarray. But like I said to you last night, we were talking about this Kavon Tibido and number five and then Evan Neil number seven back in 2022. No one at the time thought that was a bad idea. It made a ton of sense because Kavon Tibido was one of the best edge rushers and Evan Neil showed no signs of being the player he has become because of injury or otherwise once he got to New York. He was as solid as they come coming out of Alabama. You mentioned the head coach. All right, let’s talk about it. Um, another player that they got right, Jackson Dart traded up to 25, got him in the 20 25 draft. He’s been better than advertised. He’s got to find ways to stay healthy, but you got to get the coach right if you are in fact sticking with the the GM. So, let’s start there. Are you sticking with Joe Shane? Is that in the best interest of this team? I think it’s probably in the best interest uh of the organization right now. Um again, just to have some uh some solidarity there. And if you go back and you just look at the history of the New York Giants, especially when they were good, they had strong head coaches and they had the GM that could facilitate, right? And so it didn’t need for it to be the just the GM show. If you go back to Jerry Reese, he had Tom Coughlin. We know how strong Tom Coughlin is and uh how much uh of a u of a presence he had in the building just in terms of creating and establishing the culture, but also just in terms of player acquisition. You go all the way back to Bill Parcels under George Young. George Young was the consmate CEO uh type uh GM as was uh Jerry Reese who also just had a strong track record um in scouting. But then you had a Bill Parcels who was a lot well who Tom Coughlin got his way from having come up under uh Bill Parcels. So I think you need to get back to some of that. Let Joe Shane be the CEO and be the facilitator and then find that strong head coach. All right, let’s go. Then you got to give me some names of coaches because if you get the Ben Johnson coach right, if you get the Mike Vrabel coach right, the young quarterback will follow and you can see immediate results. Uh so what are we going to do? Who are some names as we look at Brian Dable here, uh, who no longer gets to wear Giants gear for free. Who are we going to hire to help out Jackson Dart get to where he needs to get to? Well, I’m just going to throw some names out there and I think, you know, again, it’s it’s worth the conversation and we’ll see these names. And when I did this, it wasn’t from the standpoint of um let me go and pull a list of 55 guys who we think I’m I’m giving you names who I truly believe will be in the interview cycle and that will have interviews and not just hot names of you know young coordinators because some of these young coordinators haven’t been coordinators long enough, haven’t been around around winning programs long enough to understand how to do it. So, in no particular order, um, uh, Rams defensive coordinator Chris Schula. Uh, I think he would be an interesting name. Uh, especially from the nostalgia standpoint, you can tie that Schula name to the Mara family name and how that whole thing works out. I think that would have some and I think just off the top of my head, I would assume because Chris has been a defensive coordinator the last couple years. Either he’s going to want to stay calling the defense and we see what that defense looks like at the Rams and we know the talent that the Giants currently have. But if he were to name a defensive coordinator, he could name a guy like Aubrey Pleasant to be his defensive coordinator, a hot name that in a couple years we’re going to be hearing Aubryy’s name either as a defensive coordinator or as a head coach uh candidate pretty soon. Uh Jeff Hafley will be a hot name out of Green Bay, the defensive coordinator there. We know how that defense is playing and just the level in which he calls this scheme. And by the way, he’s been a head coach before at Boston College, so he will come into it with some experience of how to run a program. Uh, another name, Vance Joseph, defensive coordinator, uh, out of Denver. These are all defensive guys. What are Giants? All defensive guys, but they’re going to be tasked with finding those coordinators that can coordinate this offense for this young quarterback. Um, and again, I think I think too because you’re going to you want to accentuate what you do well. I think the Giants have a good defense in terms of the players and the talent. They just got to have the right scheme to fit those guys. And Vance Joseph has been a head coach before and you know ra whether right or wrong he he didn’t have a long shot at being a head coach and so he was quickly terminated but he spent the last couple years under Shawn Payeyton understanding how to run a a an uh not only a defense but just an organization and a program. So, I think Vance Joseph will be a a hot name there. Now, my two outside of the box, so to speak, uh, one being not really outside the box, but I think he would definitely be worth their time and considering is Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman. I think he would be a really good coach for them to talk to. And, uh, you and I kind of talked about this last night. um he’s in a position right now where the Giants can interview him now because they don’t have a a current head coach and I don’t know what his contract situation is with the u uh with Notre Dame, but it would it could potentially be worth them having a conversation with him now. And then my one true outside of the box thinking when you think about culture establishing a way and just when you say this person’s name, you have a thought in an image that comes to your head on how to run a program. And if I were the New York Giants, I would consider having a conversation to trade for Mike Tomlin. You’re reading my mind. I was going to throw Mike T out there because listen, Steelers fans can be as angry as they want at Mike T, but I always ask this question. Uh, what’s the overunder or I’ll set the over under 10 minutes. How long will Mike Tomlin be unemployed? More or fewer than 10 minutes. I’m go less. Exactly. So, and it it comes back to the other point when you guys have when you have guys like Mike Frabel or Mike Tomlin who are culture set culture setters. Um, you don’t even got to worry about the X’s and O’s. You have someone who sells you on something that you believe in. Uh, I think that gets you a long way. I do wonder I do wonder if if the Giants fans would be willing, in fact, let us know in the comments. Let’s say the Giants have a top five pick when it’s all said and done. Would you come off that top five pick, send it to Pittsburgh for Mike Tomlin? Um because yes, you lose a top five pick, but you’re going to be guaranteed to win nine games at least going forward and then you got your quarterback. Now, I could tell you this myself, I wouldn’t give up a top five pick. Okay? I wouldn’t. But again, it and it’s uh it’s one of those situations that it may not necessarily cost you a first round pick because Mike is is one of the higher paid coaches um in the league and so you’re taking on that contract and we don’t know how much time is left on that contract. So you they you may have to not only trade for him but extend him like a player. His contract runs through 2027 is what I understand. And I think the reports is he he’s making north of 15. Okay. So north of 15 means you got two years left on the deal. Mike Tomlin isn’t going to go anywhere where he doesn’t have an additional two to three years on his deal. Right. He has a no trade clause too from what I understand. And so that’s going to have to come with an extension. So, the Giants fans will essentially be asking, “Are we willing to give up a second round pick for Mike Tomlin is what it’s going to really boil down to because what’s and if I’m a Giants fan, I would or a Giants front office person, I would consider giving up the second round pick because I’m sitting here with the first overall pick as it currently stands. understanding that Vegas at two could could call me. Cleveland at four, uh New Orleans at five, the Jets at seven, and Arizona at 8 all have picks that I could be able to get back that second round pick um that we would give up for Mike Tomlin. Just something to think about. I’m just saying. Yep. No, that’s right. So, uh yeah, let us know in the comments. I’m going to rip through some of these potential free agents they could target and some some draft guys and we’ll get it out of here. Uh Jaylen Coker, his contract’s going to be up. Uh undrafted out of Holy Cross. He’s he’s a really good young player that we don’t talk enough about at Carolina. Alec Pierce, Romeo Dubs, Jaylen Naylor, those guys contracts going to be up at quarterback. If you’re looking in the secondary, Lante Taylor, Nan Wright, I would imagine the Bears want to get Nan under contract, but he’s been really good. And at safety, Cam Curl and Reed Blankenship are some other names. Linebacker Nico Dean, Leo Chanel, Ivan Pace. Uh just thinking about free agent season trying to get this thing right. The interior offensive line, that’s something they got to sort out. Free agent market doesn’t look great, but maybe that’s what they do in the draft. We talked about Francis Malnoa, Vagion, Emanuel Pregnon could be options there and if you’re picking top five, Caleb DS is an option. Uh Carnell Tate’s going to be in the conversation of wide receiver and Arl Reese when we talking about him to the end of days it feels like. Um, let us know in the comments what who what free agent do you want to target if you’re a Giants fan and who do you want to get in the draft? Whether that’s a trade down or whether you just take Arbell Reese if that’s your guy um at the top of the draft class there. All right, Ran, last thing before we get out of here. Can this Giants organization, if they get everything right, can they be the 2023 Houston Texans or the 2024 Washington Commanders when they got CJ Strad in Houston or Jaden Daniels uh in Washington and turn things around immediately? So, can we say three or four or five months from now that this team has a chance to be a playoff team? No, I I think you I think they can be. Uh I think there’s enough talent in key spots. uh no matter who the head coach is, you’re not coming into it saying that we need to find a quarterback or we don’t have wide receiver one or we need pass rushers or we need guys to stop the run. Um those are typically problems that you come into when you inherit a new program that whomever the next head coach is, he’s not having to worry about that. It’s just giving this thing more structure and creating and establishing a culture that is a New York Giants way. Love it. All right, that’s it. Perfect fix for the New York Giants. Uh, you are welcome, Giants fans. Let us know in the comments if you think this thing is going to work. How long will it take to turn this team around? Are they a playoff team in 2026? Uh, and stick around and come back and check it back often because we’re doing a perfect fix for every one of these NFL teams as they uh are disqualified from the playoffs. Uh, so we’ll see you then.

Our depth on the defense is beyond terrible. We need depth in the defensive backfield. We need interior O line. We need a weak side linebacker and a middle linebacker. We need another WR. And most importantly we need Schoen and his awful scouting department gone.
What is this podcast??
These guys know NOTHING about our NY GIANTS ššš
Iām turning this crap off.
The reason Banks isnāt ācurrently startingā is b/c he suxks. Hyatt & Neal are busts too. Flott aināt the guy. Feels like Carthon doing damage control for Schoen.
If they choose any DC or OC as HC will be the same crap as the last 10 years. We need a real HC with experience. Stop with the insanity
Steve Spagnuolo is the current defensive coordinator of the Chiefs who I believe didn't get a fair and full shot as the Giants head coach in his first try. He's my pick if they choose a current coordinator to be the next head coach. He is worthy of a second shot. Mike McCarthy is probably the favourite as a former head coach. He would be a safe, good hire. He is a proven winner that will work well with Jaxson Dart and he will put a good staff together.
As long as Schoen is around the Giants will go NOWHERE!!
Iām not trading anything valuable for Mike Tomlin
This is dumb hereās my take if it is number 1 trade down with the rams and try to get both there firsts this year draft downs and styles with will probably be a top 5-7 pick via rams/falcons and pick 26-32 via rams and sign any o line you can in the offseason and a back to complement scat
Step 1: Fire Joe Schoen
Step 2: Fire Joe Schoen!
Step 3: Fire Joe Schoen!!!!!
This whole video is comedy. Depth, bringing Schoen back, Jermaine being ok this year, Neal sucks because of injuries, so much nonsense. Terrible takes.
Whatās wild is the made the playoffs a few years ago with much less a team they have now. It really comes down to coaching as they have talentā¦. But they have to stay healthy. That year Barkley, Jones and AT were healthy.
Sorry but these guys have no idea what they're talking about.
A first for Mike Tomlin is this dude smoking crack?
Do the raiders please
Not a lotta research here, not a lotta insight. They sure as heck DO need run stoppers. Other mistakes. Not impressed.
Giving up a top 5 pick for a coach that canāt win a ring without someone elseās players or a playoff game in years šššššš what a complete joke
Clean House.
Steve Spagnuolo is no brainer !!
why we asking unemployed former GMs how to fix a franchise , he clearly don't know what he doing
No college coach. No giving up picks for a coach.
How bout Spagnolo
Why does this dude actually tell the truth. Very refreshing. He should start a podcast
What depth did Schoen bring in? He waaaay over paid for Slayton. And you forget Hyatt is actually trash in a Giants uni. Tell me you don't watch the NY Football Giants.
Not pronouncing a name right can definitely kill the authenticity of a video.
These guys donāt know ball
Gotta fix the root cause peopleā¦.Mara then Schoen
Mannnn please. This Rae dude is a FORMER GM for a reason. Stop it with this "Perfect Fix" nonsense. Definitely for entertainment purposes.
Man I donāt want to hear a word from a gm that let brown go for a bag of chips and Henry to other teams for nothing
No reason to trade for Tomlin when a similar coach in Mike McCarthy is out there.
Why can't this man pronounce any players names?
The guys that have been there for years need to go should have traded big man for two firsts. Nobody but jaxson cam and nabers have fight left in them. Everyone else has no heart anymore. They don't finish the game because there is no dog left in them. It's been a joke for so long. We don't have all but 3 guys that want to win. The rest need to go
No female speaking this time š
IDL (1) IOL (2) resign J.E for RT ⦠another outside receiver (1st or 2nd rd)⦠gap shooting LB ⦠resign Flottā¦. wanādale will cost to much 17-20 million for a slot only gadget guy ā¦
Ran you should be our next GM!
Once I heard Joe should stay, I instantly stop video, comment, and exit out because they donāt know wtf they talking about. Clean House!!! Everybody should be fired and start from scratch before the Draft!!!!
The Giants and Jets had more head coaches then the history of the Pittsburgh Steelers !
I have no clue what this guy is talking about when it comes to Joe Schoen…he must be fired
Not giving up picks for a coach and we gotta try to trade back hopefully to stack more picks need to build around dart
Remember dart wouldnāt be here if it wasnāt for dabol abd bad idea of gm stays cause he wanted sanders never wanted dart. I canāt take these to seriously if your saying the gm deserves to stay
A top 5 pick for Tomlin ? How high are you ššš
Replace Jaxson Dart with Mendoza or Arch Manning. Otherwise, the Giants will still be a bad team
Good discussion but distracting with how many names were mispronounced⦠A little prep before hitting record to review the names would make a big difference.
Jerry Reese sucked as a GM. He is the jackazz that decided to draft outside in and destroyed our offensive line and derailed Manning's carerr
Asking a failed GM anything is crazy lol
Beyond so clear neither of these guys have watched a single giants game.
Nobody cares. The ceiling of a team being 9 wins and a wild card spot is not good enough. Anyone can make the playoffs any year. Youāre looking for a contender not a Cinderella story
Do you even watch giants games?
How are these draft picks or signings good on a 2win team,
These guys are some dumbasses, you can tell they know NOTHING about the giants
