[LeBrun] Confirmed teams that tried on Quinn Hughes: New Jersey, Detroit, Rangers; and to some degree, Carolina and Buffalo.

  1. Honestly, good job Adams. He wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t at least call and ask. If Rutherford/Allvin said “sure I’ll do it for Power, Rosén, and a first” you do it and figure out the rest later because that’s highway robbery.

  2. Please tell me Buffalo was only in on Hughes to gauge a price to set up future negotiations on EP40. Why would Hughes stay here long term, plus an undersized offensive D-man is the last thing this team needs – even as amazing as Hughes is

  3. If it was an unprotected 1st this year, and next year , and Bowen B, and Rosen…. I’d be in.
But Dahlin is our guy. And we hope power grows into being his #2.
We don’t NEED another D star, as much as we need growing depth

  4. I can appreciate the effort, but feel Hughes would be redundant with Dahls on the roster. I think Hughes is overall the better player, and we would’ve seen at least one of Power/Byram go back the other way. Having the two of them would be a great problem to have, but then what do you do, 1st+2nd pair play 23+ minutes each and give the 3rd pair 12-14 a night?

We’ll likely never know. But I don’t think it’s a trade we *needed* to be in on.

KA’s parting gift to us is yet another “we tried, we were in on it” – how fitting.
