Jalen Ramsey & Jonnu Smith Media Availability (Dec. 13) | Pittsburgh Steelers

J, what’s for this season? What do you guys need to do to limit what the Dolphins have attack? Um, we we just got to continue uh communicating well. We have to um limit some of their explosive play ability. Play together, play fast, play physical, um have, you know, good eyes, technique, all the things that I would probably say in a normal week as well. Yeah, obviously they got, you know, guys that can make plays on that side, so it’ll be a challenge just like any other league really. J, how different are they offensively in the last year? Obviously lean a lot more on the run than what we’ve seen in the past and what they do. Um, yeah. I mean, I feel like you just answered your own question. You just said it, but but it does feel different. Um, I guess you can say how much did your familiarity prep? Uh, I attack the week as I would attack any other week honestly. Um, they I’m sure they self scout and they scout us and you know it’s a different year so you can’t really always go off of things of the past. So, I I’m just attacking as we have done the rest of the week. Honestly, in a lot of different organizations, different coaches. What is maybe the stability that Mike Tomlin brings? How does that help a locker room? What kind of influence does that have on you guys as players? Yeah, I’ve only been here one year with him, so I can’t speak to anything else that I don’t know of, but um obviously I have a ton of respect for him. I think he is a Hall of Fame coach. Obviously, one of the best coaches in the league, if not the best. Um, and yeah, I mean, I could go on and on about coach Tomman. He’s a not only a great guy, but he’s truly a great coach, great motivator. What does it say about how fast you move in the NFL? You and me, both three timeers imitate you a corner. Now you’re in different places, but you’re playing a lot more safety. Catch your breath, brother. Catch your breath. Sorry. I know. I feel you. But what does it say about how fast like moving the NFL, seeing you guys made their, you know, kind of Hall of Fame, early parts of their careers, and then being in different spots and finding the success that you guys had. It’s the business. That’s all I can really say about that. It’s the business of it. It probably feels more different for him, I would I don’t put in his mouth. But I’m sure it feels different for him because he, you know, he’s, you know, this is where he spent most of that time and had those great prime years here where he was uh definitely a key piece of this defense here in Pittsburgh. It’s different for me with Miami. I was there, you know, a year and a half really, but actually playing. So different different feelings, I’m sure. But it’s business. It’s part of the business. You guys are fun. Cool. No, I don’t really know him that well. I know him a little bit. Obviously, he was in the same class as Derwin. Um, and me and Derwin are extremely close and they kind of got like a healthy competition between, you know, safety competition. Um, but no, I don’t really know him personally. I mean, always been a I’ve always thought he was a great player. Still think he’s a very good player. Would it be a different feeling for you going to play at Miami? No. again, kind of like I just said to him, I I was in Miami a year and a half. You know what I mean? It’s not like uh you know, it was it’s just shorter in terms of teams I’ve been on and how long I’ve been on other teams and you know, the success and the memories and things I’ve had on other teams. It’s different. How does this context fit into your room? I think he fits in great. Um always on it. Um you know, very attentive um on the field in meetings, everything like that, trying to get his groove back, being out there. um after, you know, not playing for a little while, his his demeanor, his energy, uh his mentality, it’s all something that we welcome in the in the DB room and excited for him to keep growing in his role with with our secondary and with our team. So, I’ve been enjoying it. Obviously, I’m biased, too, as as a seminal. So, I’m I’m all for it. Known for his accuracy, you could be the first quarter. Sorry. You know what’s like going against knowing those are what are the keys for you in that regard? Um yeah, I mean we got to be on our game, put it that way. I mean that’s every week though. Um it’s the NFL quarterbacks in this league are are really good. They have a hard job obviously, but they’re really good. Um and uh you know me being over there with us for a little minute, I know what he’s about. I know what type of guy he is. I know what type of player he is. So yeah, last time that we were there were really frustrated. You won a Super Bowl. How tough is it to win the postseason? A lot of the unrest here from a lack of postseason. How do you put that in order? Um, I don’t know. Again, I this is my only my first year here, so I can’t speak on everything that’s went on in the past here, not not being here, but it’s tough. Obviously, this is my 10th year in the league. I mean, I’ve been to the playoffs maybe, I don’t know, three, four times. Maybe I only had playoff wins maybe twice. Uh it’s tough. It’s the NFL. I mean, um any type of success you can get though, you cling on to it. And um I mean, me personally, I thought the chance were I mean, that’s comical in my mind. Like, that’s all I’ll say about that. That’s Yeah, that’s all I’ll say about that. Uh, I haven’t had many in my career, actually. Um, I haven’t really been in places where the weather gets uh as cold as it’s been here. But, it’s football. I I just love playing football, so I’m cool with it. Uh, I don’t know if I’ve ever played in a snow game. Um, so I guess that would be cool, too. Jonathan, u both Aaron and DK professionalism of the receiving group last week that got the deep ball open as far as getting details down. What have you seen kind of turn up for you guys to get those details a little bit sharper? Um consistency. Uh staying with the plan and just trusting in it um you know this time during the season when you want uh everything to come together and so well you need everything to come together and so um you know it came definitely is coming at a prominent time indeed. You previously said that you didn’t want to leave Miami while that was happening. Is there any extra added motivation? Know it’s pretty cliche, but going into this one is kind of back to my another game for me. Um we can’t get caught up with the emotions of it. Um I’m a professional. I’m go handle this game like any other um and expect to go in there and get a win. I know the receivers and you got you’re a tight end, but what have you seen Adam and MS just bring as far as what’s expected to them and doing the little things right? those guys came in immediately and uh you know you felt their impact and like I you know like I said earlier mentioned before you know um being a professional um you know at this league is paramount especially at this time of the year. So you know add those guys um you know his late additions in the season you know it could definitely give us a push. How much did uh the play calling for you guys change in Baltimore when Darnell went out and what impact does he have for you guys in the run game just with that size? Um, you know, I want to get one get into schematics, you know, a bit, but we we played our ball. We played our brand of ball. Um, you know, um, you know, just happy to see them healthy, obviously, first and foremost. Um, you know, however, um, you know, that that that shakes out. Um, but we’re just excited to, uh, you know, for guys to, you know, owning on, you know, the roles and things change and, you know, that doesn’t necessarily mean, you know, that we looking at this thing from a different set of lenses. And so you just got to be uh you know ready you know when that when that moment is called and you know it’s can can be a do sort of a domino effect when guys go down not necessarily just one guy’s affected you know what I mean and so um just continue to play our brand of football and we got the win this far in the season. How do you think that tight end time sharing? Obviously you guys have had the split receptions things like that. Uh what tonight at this point? Um, you know, it’s uh, you know, obviously as a as as a competitor, you know, you you you know, always, you know, want as many opportunities as possible. And uh you know I’m just I completely trust in the plan and and everything that you know that we have going forward.
