  1. Because of this play, Paul O’Neill’s BBRef page says Throws: Left, Bats: Left, Kicks: Left lmao

  2. He promised a sick kid in the hospital that he would kick the ball. Later, he caught a fly ball with his hat.

  3. Sometimes in intramural kickball I would drop kick the ball from the outfield instead of throwing it in. Saved a few crucial runs with the method.

  4. I’ve seen this play many times, but never heard about whether the Phillies ultimately scored. Turns out they did two batters later on a passed ball, which ended the game.

  5. I always thought he kicked it to first intentionally its crazy that it was an accident.

  6. that is a very impressive kicking technique, a soccer player could not have kicked that ball better.

  7. There’s no telling what was on Lenny Dykstra’s bat so probably best not to touch that ball with your bare hands anyway.

  8. I have to do this on my adult kickball team because I cant throw a red bouncy ball from the outfield for shit

  9. When talking about the incident he said he wasnt even trying to kick it back to the infield. He was pissed off that he misplayed it and thought he’d cost them the game so he just kicked at the ball out anger.

I’m not sure if its more impressive that he did it accidentally or not.

  10. Larry really should have gotten his head out of his ass on that play.

Nothing like pay your $11 for a seat on the third base line and yelling at Larry Bowa over not sending a guy.

  11. Probably the most improbable play in MLB history. He couldn’t have done that better if he had been practicing it for two hours every day since he was 12 years old, and he nailed it on the first try.
