Ian Begley reacts to Knicks win over Orlando, sending them to NBA Cup Final

Now times go inside out and
welcome in our MBA Insider Ian Begley and great to see you. The
story of the game of course was Jalen Brunson and his 40
points but overall the team shot 61 percent from the floor
against one of the League’s better defensive teams. So what did you see that? Made them
so successful. I think you’re seeing a
continuation of what you see from this team recently which is
great ball movement, starters having 23 assists,
between them creating quality looks karl-anthony towns was really
strong obviously against Orlando, a team that he
hadn’t played that well against in the next two losses against
the magic. So you’re right Stout defensive team in Orlando,
but this Nick offense it just continues to ascend
here. They are number two in offensive efficiency in the league and it seems like
they’re The finding their way in this
thing, so it’s all systems go right now
for Mike, Brown’s offense. Yeah, one guy that stepped up in
this offense is Tyler kolak, who had no doubt his best game
as a Nick, a team-high plus 18, rating and 16 minutes off the
bench. How could more games like this,
alter? The next plans at backup point guard? I mean, look, if you’re telling
me, Tyler kolak is going to play from. Now until early
February, like you did tonight, I would assume the plans do get
off to write, but I think in a general sense with the Knicks
you’re looking at that backup point guard position because you
want a veteran there in these the playoff games,
somebody who can give you minutes, consistently. But if
kolak continues to play again, like he did on Saturday, then
who’s to say, maybe he is the guy that the Nixie can fill
that role, but I think at the moment, Moment, you’re still looking at the trade market Jose,
Alvarado’s in the name, there are going to be many others
before the February deadline. But yes, certainly kolak putting
a bit in there with this play Saturday. Yeah,
definitely, a step in the right direction. So, Tuesday night,
they will play for the NBA Club Championship Ian. How much does this mean to the
players? You know, you talk to the
veterans and it means something because they know that if they
win this thing, their teammates can get five hundred thousand
dollars and for the guys at the end of the roster, that’s
big. That’s significant. It’s a
big bonus doubling their salary in some instances.
I think that’s why this thing matters for the
players and also the assistant coaches will get a
share to. So you know guys who you don’t see
a lot behind the scenes, they’ll get
paid if they do in this thing. I think that’s why it matters
too. Although Chelsea, I’m not sure
about raising an MBA cup Banner in Madison Square Garden. If the
Knicks do win this thing, but I guess that’s a discussion
for another day. Just can’t see that going up in the rafters in
the garden. Midseason tournament, maybe
that’s just me.

On SportsNite, SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley joins Chelsea Sherrod to marvel at Jalen Brunson’s 40-point performance in the Knicks 132-120 win at the expense of the Magic to put them in the NBA Cup Final. Brunson got plenty of help offensively from Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby, who dropped 29 and 24 points respectively. New York will face either the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs in the final on Tuesday night.

  1. We can’t raise that banner. That would be a sign of desperation. We can put it in a display case at the garden entrance, along with images of the roster. Let fans take pictures in front of it.

  2. Brunson took 27 shots to make 40 points.
    And was a + 3 in a game New York by 12
Let's stop the ballhogging, because Kat took 11 shots to hit 27 points and correctly was a plus twelve +12

  3. Bring on the Spurs! I have to say that the cup has worked to infuse some early season excitement. The NBA season is looonnnggg. But obviously, the ultimate goal is to win the ship. Keep your eyes on the prize, Knicks
