Oh My… Atlanta Falcons Fans Just Got IMPACTFUL News After Beating The Bucs
I told you that we were going to make an episode dedicated to talking about James Pierce Jr. and why on earth the Falcons fans that didn’t like the Falcons moving up into the first round again to select James Pierce Jr. is completely wrong. So before we start this entire episode surrounding JPJ, if you think he’s a dog and you want to show him some love, do me a favor, smash that thumbs up icon. Let’s get into the show. [Music] Falcons fans, welcome into Falcons Today by Chat Sports. My name is Moose. On today’s show, we’re going to tackle a couple of subjects here. JPJ is a one-man wrecking crew. The guy is an absolute behemoth and uh continues to get better and better and better. Should the Atlanta Falcons keep Kyle Pittz? We’re going to tackle that question as well. And then what happened to AJ Terrell? I think we all need to take a breath on that. He had a really bad game, which I don’t think is an indicator of signs to come. Let’s start, of course, with James Pierce Jr., the main topic of today’s video. Two sacks tonight, making it eight on the season. The Rams may have traded away the defensive rookie of the year. Now, granted, the Rams didn’t really need James Pierce Jr. because they have Jared Verse, and he’s also a very good player. However, for every single fan that was upset that Terry Fontnau traded back into the first round to select James Pierce Jr., I’m here to officially say, “F them pick, man. F them picks. I am on board the James Pierce Jr. hype train.” Not that I wasn’t before, but now I’m like, this might be the next big pass rusher in the NFL. That doesn’t mean he’s going to be Miles Garrett, but could he be in the same echelon as Nick Bonito, Denil Hunter, Will Anderson Jr., all of those guys that have ascending careers? I think the answer is undoubtedly yes. Now has six straight games with a sack and eight on the year. I think it’s important to note that we can go back and forth and talk about if he set the franchise rookie record. There’s a lot of conflicting reports about that. Multiple Falcons media members saying yes, he broke it. Some saying no, he didn’t. We recognize somebody from the 1960s that did it. Either way, I’m not super upset about it. Here’s what I do know. You can’t deny this stat right here. TJ Watt, Miles Garrett, Max Crosby in their rookie seasons all had seven. James Pierce Jr. has eight. The talent is there. The talent to compete with the very best in the NFL is clearly on display. And he’s not done yet. We’ve got three games left. You could absolutely see JPJ end up with 10 plus sacks this year. It’s beyond a possibility. I think you’re going to end up seeing him exactly at 10. I think he gets two more sacks at the end of this year. But it’s not just James Pierce Jr. We cannot forget Jaylen Walker, who I believe is right now a more well-rounded player than JPJ, good against the run, better at dropping again uh back and pass coverage. JPJ is just a better talent of getting to the quarterback, and that’s fine. But James Pierce Jr. and Jaylen Walker are now just the fifth pair of rookie teammates in NFL history with at least six sacks a piece. I will give Terry Fontau a bit of credit here. And I’ve been very hard on Ton. The biggest issue going into the 2025 season from every Falcons fan, or at least it should have been, was we don’t have a pass rush. We’ve got to get a pass rush. Now, the Falcons have a pass rush. In fact, it’s probably top three in the league. So, you went from one of the worst, if not the worst, in the NFL to now top three in the NFL in sacks per season. Now granted, the rest of the team and the coaching uh needs, you know, a lot of molding. That’s a great word. Thank you for that. But he definitely turned the biggest weakness or helped turn the biggest weakness and turn it into a strength. But James Pierce Jr. back to him because that’s the main focus here. He looks like a five-time Pro Bowler. He does. He absolutely does. This looks like a guy who is going to get 10 plus sacks straight for five to six years. I mean, the body size, the body comp, the speed, the strength, the agility, the one-on-one matchup. I mean, it’s just you can’t stop him. You cannot stop him. And now, six straight games of unstoppability. And if you love that JPJ pick, man, I said show him a little bit of love, but we’re going to continue to show him a little bit of love. Type those two sevens in the comments. No, not 6767 2727 down in the comment section down below. Let’s move on to the offensive side of the football as I adjust my underwear here because it’s riding up and giving me a front wedgie. Yeah, I know. I just had to say it. It was bothering me. Uh Kyle Pittz. Uh I think the main question right now for Kyle Pittz is what do you do with him? Um, and the answer might not be as black and white as you think because I’m sure based off of last night’s performance, there’s going to be a lot of people that are riding that wave and like resign Pitts. But the question now becomes, do you keep Kyle Pittz or do you let him explore free agency? And like I said, the answer is not as black and white as you think. Now, before we answer that question, because coming up, I’m going to break it down in its entirety. Should they keep him? Playing a little bit of devil’s advocate or why they should not keep him. All of that in the comments and description of today’s video. So, Kyle Pittz, like I said, last night’s or at the time of this recording, last night’s game was unbelievable. Easily the best of his career. There’s no denying that. However, I do think it’s important to at least mention that we can get caught up in the momentum of one great game. You don’t want recency bias or prisoner of the moment to take control of what you feel about Kyle Pittz. This is the fourth overall pick that take two. This is the fourth overall pick Kyle Pittz that we wanted to see. Unfortunately, it’s been few and far between with Kyle Pittz from that last night throughout his entire career as an Atlanta Falcon. But he did break his career in receptions and touchdowns. That’s good news. That that’s where I will give Falcons fans credit. He’s easily having one of his better seasons. There’s no doubt. Could that be because he’s going into a contract year? Absolutely. There’s no better time like the present. I’m sure he’s aware of that. He’s definitely aware of it. He’s talked about it all off seasonason long. And we also know that in the last three games with Kurt Cousins under helm, Kyle Pittz looked like a different player. 24 receptions. So, he’s eight a game, almost 80 yards a game, three touchdowns, averaging 14 point or 13.9, excuse me, yards per reception. That’s 14 yards per catch. So, I decided, okay, if we’re going to go through this and we’re going to ask the question, do you keep pits or do you let him explore free agency, you have to bring up the pros and cons list. Let’s go with the pros first. He’s got insane flashes of talent as displayed last night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There’s no doubt about that. He’s got a rapport with Kirk Cousins. You can’t question it. It’s by far better with Kirk than it is with Michael Pennix Jr. And he’s got that extreme athleticism that you’re looking for in a tight end. Somebody that doesn’t necessarily play like a a traditional tight end, but more as a bigger slot wide receiver. Now, what are the cons? Well, just as I said, he’s a bipolar player with huge es and flows. You either get last night’s Kyle Pitts or you get three receptions for 30 yards Kyle Pitts and there’s not a lot of in between. You very rarely get the six receptions for 50 yards and no touchdown which is a very mediocre game, right? You don’t really get that as often. You either get two receptions for 20 yards or 11 for a buck 66 and three touchdowns. He’s also more comfortable within the slot, which is not necessarily a huge negative, but he doesn’t play like a traditional tight end like you want. You want someone that can put his hand in the ground, block when he needs to, and Pitts is just not a good blocker. And also, remember we were talking about that rapport with Kirk. Well, Kirk might not be here next year. $35 million cap savings. He might be here, but he might not. And if he is here, there’s no guarantee that he’s going to start. So, you can’t bank on Kirk Cousins and Kyle Pittz being together next year because the odds are is that one, if not both, are going to be gone next year. So, what does that lead me to ultimately think at this point? I still think Kyle Pittz will try his hand in free agency. I do. I think he’s going to want 12 to 12.5 million a year. I don’t think the Falcons are ready to pay him that. And I think they’re going to say you can go explore your options. If he doesn’t get an option, the Falcons pick up that fifth year option or franchise tag him and then they move on with that next year with Pitts. So, it’s very very up in the air right now. The last three games are going to be pivotal for Kyle Pittz into showing what he can do. If he has three more games where he’s absolutely awesome, I think the Falcons might be like, “Shit, man. We We might have to pay him now. We might have to pay him. Let’s end today’s episode by talking about AJ Terrell. It was bad last night. And that’s not something that we say often about AJ Terrell, but uh last night was a painful watch. Four penalties. Should have been five. One of them was declined. That’s the first thing. It was really, really bad. He got bodied by Mike Evans consistently all night. Granted, Mike Evans bodies every cornerback that he plays. He’s excellent. He’s a future Hall of Famer, one of the most consistent wide receivers the game has ever seen. But he did lose his leverage repeatedly. And it looked like last night, I’m not saying this in general, I’m saying last night he looked like he lost a step. Now, I know he’s battled through a couple of injuries this year, so that’s fine. But last night was probably the worst game of AJ Terrell’s career. I mean, it was really, really bad. He got outplayed by D Alfred. But I will say this, if you’re a Falcons fan that was overly harsh on AJ Terrell and saying, “This guy stinks or he’s washed or blah blah blah,” do not crush this man. It was clearly an awful night. I’m not excusing that. I’m not. It was bad. He played awful, but those nights happened. AJ’s going to be fine. Now, if we continue to see a trend where he gets bodied by these bigger wide receivers that he continues to have the penalty problem, if he’s losing that step and that inside leverage, okay, then maybe maybe we have to have a different conversation then about AJ Terrell and what’s going on behind the scenes. Outside of that, I’m not super worried about it. That’s going to take uh care of our episode today on Falcons Today. Y’all don’t forget Brandon Dorulus as well is balling out. Dudes playing as a dt an has 7 sacks…
27
27 yea keep Pitts
They have already used the 5th year option on pitts, and franchise tags happen before free agency, not after. If you tag or sign him, you have to do it before free agency starts.
27
Need to resign him, because outside of London he’s the only viable pass catcher they have
the Falcons broke the 28-3 curse 0:55
Keep pitts
27
5:04 27
Pitts has not been used right. He’s a mismatch. Look for him more in the offense. That’s where we need better coaching
27
Kyle Pitts game about to get him a Matt Flynn contract 😂

27. JPJ was worth the number 1 pick.
Jpj video and no phone call or feature from Petey? I can hear his "I TOLD YOU GUYS"
27!😁
F*** that first round pick 😂
I think we should keep Pitts for one more year just because I don’t know who would replace him
1000000 % keep Pitts
I,m saying it now, JP is gonna get 5 more sacks
You can both be a fan of JPJ and not like Terry moving up. That's where I'm at. He has been very aggressive trading up. It's why we don't have draft capital. Traded up for Ruke and didn't like that and it seems like I was right to not. We are way further than a piece or two away from being a contender or hell a playoff team.
Jevon Kerse holds the rookie record with 14.5 sacks he can match it it with 2-3 great games
They can't pick up the fifth year option now. The fifth year option has to be picked up before they pay the 4th year. If Kyle hits free agency Tampa should throw everything they can at him so they don't have to play him ever again. I don't like that situation. And AJ worse games seem to come against Tampa and Mike Evans. It's like Evans is in his head. And it's not like he plays Evans every play but still struggles with whomever he is covering.
Why would we not just have Kyle Pitts play as WR 1 then have Drake as WR 2 and draft an actual TE. Then you’ve got 2 good sized good speed receivers and will outmatch like every DB
I don't understand the talk of getting rid of kp just look at his stats and then take a real look at the qbs he has had to play with
Thing is he’s not even having to get to a second move. Imagine if the spin move and swim move become a part of his arsenal.
Smash the like button or Raheem will kiss you
Kyle Pitts had no problem catching the ball with Matt Ryan throwing him the ball!!!!
TMI on the wedge Moose!!
We have our 1st round pick, We just got him a year early. Relax folks. Keep Pitts. For the most past TF has held excellent drafts. But he should have done more homework on Morris. He should have said no to bringing your buddies to be your coordinator
27!
27
Kyle Pitts has 338 yards in the past 3 games, not 238. Short changed him 100 yards. It’s amazing what he can do with a decent QB
Is Kirk cousins our qb1 for next season??
27 ❤ 27
27!!!
27 Have always loved the JPJ pick.
I agree moose JPJ 27 is a beast and loved the pick.
27
Trade Pitts. A waste of a pick and an absolute waste of money.
27
Don't promote Pitts, man. 5 years! 5 years! he did NOT give his best EFFORT. Don't even talk about performance. Just EFFORT. The Falcons should use the franchise tag on him if they think he is tradable. Otherwise, let him walk. He now shows up in games that don't matter at ALL! These games only matter to HIM because he needs a new contract and now he is giving his best effort. Don't buy that please.
27
10:16 why not reclassify Pitts as a WR? let him be WR2
