Player EJECTED for this hit | Kansas City Chiefs Vs Los Angeles Chargers

Okay, so we had this situation happen in the Chargers Chiefs game. Let’s pause it to set the stage right here. So you see that it’s a third down and five. Chiefs are down three in a game where they’re potentially facing elimination depending on how some other games go as of it stands right now. So definitely need a win. They’re basically eliminated even if they don’t get eliminated on paper with a loss here. Although that’s not really what we’re going to talk about when this play begins. You see Mahomes throws this one. It’s caught by Taekquin Thornton, but then a flag comes out. You saw there was some pushing and shoving uh with Kelsey and Rasheed Rice actually getting into it with it’s Tony Jefferson. That’s the safety who we’re going to talk about in just a second. I will show this a couple times, but first let’s just remind ourselves in what the rule exactly is. So Taekwon Thornton is a defenseless receiver, meaning it’s illegal to hit him in the head or neck area. Even if he falls down, it’s ultimately the defender’s job to make sure you don’t do that. You also, whether it’s a defensive receiver or not, can’t lead on a tackle with your helmet. You have to lead with your shoulder. Those are the two rules. And you see he’s going to kind of break both of those. Does lead with his helmet kind of shoulder, but really he leads with his helmet even if it was unintentional. That’s what he ended up doing. Also, uh hits Thornton in the head. Uh that’s those are that’s two penalties. And I think that’s why ultimately he got ejected from this play. I think I think if it was just one of those, if he either led with the helmet or if he, you know, hit Thornton in the header neck area as Thornton was kind of falling to the ground, I think it would have been a 15- yard penalty, but no ejection. both of them. I think that’s what caused the ejection. Again, this is something that they can look at uh and watch the replay of and and determine if they want the ejection there or not. That that might might have been what they did there. Ultimately, uh it was it wasn’t initially an ejection, but ultimately got ruled that way. Apparently, Tony Jefferson made a gesture towards the crowd after. I did not see uh a clip of that, but that’s what the commentator said. Might have just not gotten picked up on the live feed or maybe they cut it from the live feed because it was like a middle finger or something. That’s what I would assume. To make matters worse for the Chiefs though, they got, you know, Thornton gets hurt hurt and then right after Mahomes throws this interception. So, yeah, just a a rough sequence all around for uh for Kansas City and for for you know, Jefferson.

  10. A few plays before this hit, one of the players on the Chiefs put a cheap blindside block on the same defender and got flagged for it. This was just a retaliation hit. Chiefs played a game of FAFO and got what they deserved. How Kermit the frog is gone too. Playoff chances ruined….lmao

  15. Bad call ! his head was up face mask made contact. didn't hit him with the crown. But it's the chiefs they got the refs pulling for. Ejections are for targeting speaking the the crown to the head. the defender started his approach before the receiver fell straight to the ground. Bad call..

  23. Lmao! I love it! They eliminated them from the post season. Ended the dynasty and took out Mahomes all in one game 😂🎉

    Fraud Mahomes Isn’t even in the same league as Brady and the dynasty is finished. All the delusional chiefs fans saying they would “make a comeback” this year finally got what was coming to them 😂

  24. It was a great form Tackle. His eyes are up and wrapped up the tackle. If his head was a little to either side, it would have been a textbook form Tackle. He never launched himself or completely lower his head. Jefferson put on a clinic how to tackle through players today

  30. At that speed if the defender tries to pull up and move his head, he would be bending his neck and exposing himself to a catastrophic neck injury. Its sort of like when you are driving and about to hit a deer and the best move is to just plow through it for your own safety.
