It’s so frustrating to see the team take strides in offense but the defense continues to be bottom of the league. I get that the rush style offense directly leads to more chances for the opponent, but stats like these really show the years of defensive-minded coaching via Cronin were wasted.
Hopefully Q can figure out how to find the balance between the aggressive style offense while not giving up so many chances for the opponent.

Things that don’t surprise me for 500 Alex
Wild have outstanding goal tending that helped them. Now they have hughs. Pat can you make some moves to make the D better?
would one more defensive player even improve our defense that much? it feels like our issues are largely scheme related
Ive said it before an got downvoted. The Ducks have made large improvements, but I think luck has carried them a long way this season. I think we are going to settle between 15-20th in the league.
We’re worse than San Jose? Yikes.
Disappointing because it was showing signs of improvement but this latest poor stretch after the Hawks game has put them right back in the shitter
Pat Verbeek if you can hear us save us
not surprising. the top 6 is mostly kids still learning how to defend while providing offense. the bottom 6 has like 2 guys who can defend. and on defense it’s pretty much only lacombe and trouba who can defend worth a shit
I’ve said since preseason that we needed another mid-high to high dman. But that still may not be enough and may come down to a systems issue. Early season, players praised it because they simplified it and it seemed to work well.
To backtrack a little, I’d say it’s more personnel than overall systems, because you have some guys that can’t clear bodies from our net. Then you have guys who are just naturally slow or exhausted from overuse and extra minutes.
Some current positives is they are shuffling pairings to find a better balanced defense. Coaches are definitely well aware of the problem.
