With the Chiefs being eliminated from making the playoff the Maple Leafs now have the 3rd longest active playoff streak in North America sports. (Behind the Celtics & Dodgers)

  1. We must have won a ton of ships in this timeframe, right?

(Just taking the piss, don’t hurt me)

  2. Not a football fan, can someone explain what happened to the chiefs? Seemed like a quick fall from grace.

  3. 3 out of the 4 teams mentioned in this post are proven winners. Even statistically, the Leafs postseason track record is such an outlier given their regular season dominance.

  4. Yeah, and the longest active streak without a championship in professional sports in North America.

  5. Well I’m pretty sure that active streak won’t be so active after this season….

  6. Interesting that the leafs are the only one of the 3 with a rigid salary cap. When you make the playoffs for so long you don’t get good picks, so you keep up by getting the best free agents. Dodgers and Celtics could do that , leafs couldn’t.

Now making it even worse, with 2 extra teams there’s less talent available in free agency now when they finally do have some room.

Like from a long term building perspective the NHL isn’t set up for long term regular season success — it’s set up for teams to be shit for a few years, rise up, repeat the cycle.

  7. Honestly, being a lifelong Leafs/Chiefs fan I am okay with the Chiefs missing this year. How am I supposed to complain about 5 Superbowl appearances and 3 wins? Now I get to have a postseason stress-free. And hopefully they make some changes.

The Leafs on the other hand. Give me something lads.
