Giants Lose 8 Straight in Loss to Commanders | 104

Commanders 29, Giants 21. Welcome to Giants Nation. I’m your host, Bobby Skinner, here with my co-host, the Football Grump, and we’re in the back of a rental truck. I’m very glad I decided to do a rental truck. We thought about doing this in the bus. The bus is probably a little too cold. I’m very sorry to Mark that he’s probably having to sit here, wait on us, and probably mfing us. Uh, the Giants, they lost this game. They lost have lost eight straight games. They fought a two- 12. Let’s get all that crap out of the way. We were there. It was extremely cold. It snowed uh all morning. And this was just a battle of two really bad teams. Like two two teams who had no desire to win. Special teams gaffs um turnovers. You know, the Commanders, I think, fumbled the ball what four total times in this game. Uh the Giants just couldn’t hit anything in the first half. second half got a little better and then, you know, better than that final drive. This was this was, you know, there’s been talks about, oh, they’ve played good against good teams. Well, they played terrible against this terrible team and came out uh on on the bottom. How are you? I’m I’m doing well. This was an ugly game. Um, we had all the all the makings for the worst game to go to. So you had this the snow and and you know unplowed parking lots to show up and then all the pretty snow stopped right around 11:00 I guess maybe 10:30 11:00 and it just got cold just cold whipping winds um like like and and it affected the game too like I know like we we’ll get into the details whatever but the uprights were moving around [ __ ] was flying around all over the field um that was miserable and then we we just had bad football to watch both teams bad football all over the place. Um, yeah. So, this was and and now now I think we’re going to be probably heading home in a bunch of black ice. So, this had all the makings for a miserable a miserable game to uh to attend. Well, here’s the good thing is after we’re done with this podcast, guess where we’re going? We’re going to Candlewick Diner. Uh, so let’s talk about this at the top. And and we’re going to Candlewick Diner. Uh, best diner in New Jersey. It’s right down the stadium from East Rutherford. In fact, as soon as this podcast is over, I’m not disconnecting. I’m not tying up cords. I am simply just throwing it all in the back seat and then we’re going to drive over there and we’re going to have ourselves a great meal. I’m going to get some, you know, breakfast. I got to get an omelette, some, you know, some hash browns in there. I’m looking forward to a really good cup of coffee and I’m thinking I am thinking I’m going to do the steak sandwich. I know we keep talking about it. I’m going to take a picture of it so we can We’ve been bragging about it for a while now. So yeah, I’m gonna hopefully we’re not frozen. Uh I’m I’m I’m definitely getting breakfast, but a hot cup of coffee. You guys got me some hot chocolate at halftime. And I man I literally just warned my entire soul. Uh so I’m excited to be there. If you if you’re in the area and you’re watching this, like once you’re see this podcast is over, head over to Candle Wick and we’ll we’ll see you there. They are the best. They’ve been supporting uh not just Giants Nation show, but me and and every venture in the past early day one sponsor for us. Jump uh step to the plate. Uh we’ve been teasing this date to go there for so long and it feels so good that we’re getting ready to go there. So, thank you Candlewick Diner. Um where do you want to lead off in this game? Right. Because, you know, I think the two individual performances we’ll probably talk the most about is Jackson Dart and then Abdul Carter are your two rookie first round picks. um you know Carter having his you know breakout game where he had what he had uh a sack and a half three tackles for how many forced fumbles did he have? I was trying to figure out exactly how they were scoring the force fumbles. It looks like there’s dispute on how many. It looks like it’s probably two. It’s one or two. I I I think we should just get into the Abdul Carter thing because he’s sort of I I know Jackson Dart’s the quarterback and all but um let’s get he’s been the hot topic for the last couple weeks now. Let’s get the good out of the way. So Jordan Renan on the podcast on Friday, you know, oh, he’s he’s okay. Okay. Well, guess what? We had a great game for Abdul Carter. Starts the game out, has a strip sack. The Commanders end up recovering, but that’s what you need. Like, actually, even first play of the game, tackle for a loss, uh, you know, was affecting the quarterback consistently, drew another holding penalty, right? That, you know, those lose 10 yards, but you don’t get anything in the stat book. Had some false starts lined up across from him. Yeah. So, it was kind of I think it it was good for everybody to for Abdul Carter to kind of get the monkey off his back in this game because he was he was the best player on defense, right? You know, uh uh and I I was just like there was one thing I walked out of the stadium happy about. I was like, “All right, Abdul Carter, that was sick, right? Carter or you know, Dart up and down day, but Carter was just consistently really good. The pressures turned into sacks in this one. Uh, and hopefully this continues kind, you know, gets the ball rolling and we get a little bit more counting stats to end the season because this was this was a this was a fun fun game for him. Yeah. And I I think it was Ryan Devon Levy had reported that he had been more in meeting more involved in meetings this week uh and and showing up early and watching the film, bro. So I I I guess there is the the A to B transfer right there, right? Directly from film to sachs. We’ll we’ll see if that continues or if this was just Josh Connorly is somebody that can be had or or you know, whatever. Marcus Mariott is a back quarterback with limited mobility at this stage in his career. I mean, it could be a number of things, but he was affecting the run game as well. They they had lined him up all over the place. He was in the A gap at one point. You called it out and immediately had like a four-yard tackle for loss in the run game. Um, you know, again, have to watch the film and see if there was any, you know, he he does have other issues with keeping contain in the run game and things like that. So, we’ll have to see if there were any mess ups, but this was without a doubt the flashy plays from him. And even the the play, it was called back, but late in the game, Giants one-sore game, gets the the hit on I think it was McNichols. uh fumbles the ball, lands right in Abdul Carter’s lap, gets up, has a crazy return, and then lunatic play of like hook and ladder. Like I kind of didn’t hate it. I know. I know. It It almost looks staged. It was so perfectly like played out. Unfortunately, he was he was touched while he was down. So, you know, none of that counted, but like all of that was just exceptional, fun to watch, and exactly why you draft him in the top five. Um, this game I think is there’s a it’s a three-parter, right? You’re going into it I I nobody came into this game being like the Giants are definitely not going to lose this game. They’re heavy favorites. But it’s like, all right, the Commanders have lost I think eight straight coming into this game. Like they or what, six, whatever it’s been. Like they’ve been really bad, too. Uh Jaden Daniels is injured. Their defense is terrible. They just had the game, you know, of his life against them. We’re going to get something, right? Oh, snowing in the parking lot. Going to be fun. Boom. Boom. Just right away they get a field goal. Giants don’t do anything. They get a a rushing touchdown. They They’re up 13 to zero. Right. So, that’s the first part where it’s like, son of a gun. Like, why did I have any faith of this team even keeping this cloak? 13 to zero. Then they score a touchdown um at uh you know towards the middle of the second half or second quarter just Tyrone Tracy running play. Yeah. So that Tyrone Tracy running play 13 to7 then it just became total chaos where um you know they get a punt return for a touchdown by Jaylen Lane, right? And we kind of that we almost had a punt return for a touchdown earlier in the game and they just barely you know uh clipped his feet up. So Jaylen uh Jaylen Lane has uh a touchdown. Uh the Giants, what happened next on there? I think they had a fumble in there. What or no? The dart interception to Jaylen Hyatt happened. Sorry, I was I was looking at the playbyplay and I was that was heading down towards halftime. The the interception to Jaylen Hyatt. So clearly not Jackson Dart’s best play, but also Jaylen Hyatt giving some limited effort coming back towards the ball kind of just let somebody undercut the route. Yeah. So, like again, bad ball by Jackson Dart, but it’s like Jaylen Hank goes out there for a play, terrible route, doesn’t fight for the ball, interception. Um, and you know, they they score a field goal after that. And it’s like, how did this just go from a one-score game to 22 to7 in a blink of an eye? Like we when the Giants scored the touchdown, everybody left to get an early uh jump on halftime, you know, going to the bathroom concessions, right? So they all go all right everyone’s we’re sitting there we’re sitting there and then another thing happens all right now people are uh you know going for uh you know the this more people are going that was like it took like 20 minutes to go from 13 to7 like thinking you’re going to go into the half and a one score game to now down uh 22 to7 because they miss an extra point in there too the the 15minute three minute portion of the game yeah and then the third part was oh the Giants lost everybody body left and then the Commanders just start fumbling on, you know, you know, they fumble, Giants score a touchdown, fumble again, and then the Giants had that final drive where they weren’t able to score the touchdown, but it it went from like, oh my gosh, like the there’s just two terrible teams, right? Like I I know we’re here, so I don’t feel like doing a bunch of big picture conversations, but I think I feel like it puts it all of this into perspective. It’s just this is two terrible teams. This is familiar for the New York Giants and the Washington Commanders. End of the year December. Two terrible teams. One team has to win this game, but neither plays like they deserve it. Yeah. And and Jackson Dart had an up and down game, too. Early in the game, I think it was a little bit windier. Um he started the game off with a really good strike to Darius Sllayton on the on a slant and then I think like the next four passes after look that were questionably play like where’s like who the hell was that to? where like you know or just missing guys by about three four yards um where it’s not even like in the vicinity of playing for the ball got a little out of control quickly and then Mike Kfka kind of settled things down with uh just like leaning into the run game which you know is becoming a little bit of a trend for him but uh things got settled down. It looks like Jackson Dart started to get a little bit more comfortable. He was standing in the pocket a little bit um letting things develop. He was also scrambling to good effect in this game. Uh I and again I I don’t want to lean into this conversation too much because it’s becoming tired and also pissing me off, but I know he went into the medical tent at one point. It’s [ __ ] It’s It’s so stupid that they keep sending him into the medical tent if he doesn’t pop up in a quarter of a second. It’s actually like I know we don’t care about the wins and losses at this point. And the fans that were cheering when that happened, by the way, cuz Jamus was coming into the game. I wanted to strangle every single one of if you’re listening right now like your quarterback is one like he wasn’t injured but what if he was injured and we’re we’re cheering because oh Jamus is funny which we’re cheering for that to come into the game but it’s [ __ ] like the Giants are trying to win a game. They’re trying to win a game. Jackson Dart was able to come back in but it’s it’s kind of [ __ ] that every time the guy goes down they send him into the blue medical tent. Yeah. I would like to know and I’ll never know and no one’s going to ask and even if they ask they won’t get a real answer but I’d like to know exactly what symptom he exhibited other than not standing up immediately that was like oh he might have a concussion like because you know lots of quarterbacks take lots of hits and don’t get up immediately and they don’t go into the blue medical 10 this is getting out of hand whatever but regardless of that very annoying thing that is going to be a problem if this team ever gets good that’s going to be an issue regardless of all that I thought that Jackson Dart did a pretty good job of protecting himself in this game. Again, we saw him sliding. We saw him diving diving head first, but still getting down before taking the hits. Yeah. So, like he has done a better job that he’s going to take more hits. And I haven’t listened to the Jackson Dart press conference right now, but if they ask more than one question about it and and stop citing that, oh, he’s been in the medical tent uh five times so far. Okay, they keep putting him in there for no reason. The Chargers game, he had a long run. He was he saw that he was being called back to a penalty and he put his hands on his knees being like tired and I can’t believe I did all that and it’s going to count for nothing and they sent him in the medical tent for that. We stop citing that he’s been in the medical tent. He’s been injured one time. I think there is a risk of injury with the way that he plays. is an issue. But his last four g his last his last three games that he’s played, he’s taken he’s taken one just total unnecessary hit. And it was because the Patriots were trying to get a hit on him and they didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt that he was running out of bounds even though he was running out of bounds and not trying to get, you know, an extra yard. He was just running at the angle that he was running at. So, it’s kind it’s we do nobody cares about winning these games, but if the Giants were uh, you know, nine and and three coming into this game instead of, you know, two and 11, I every play matters and trying to get seeding or make it or or trying to make the playoffs or whatever. This every single time this guy goes down, you can’t just send him into the blue medical tent. It’s stupid. I can’t believe it keeps happening. It’s really unbelievable because the play in which it happened, the defensive lineman that hit him is the one who was really injured. like literally like that that the Washington medical staff came running out for that guy and then Jackson Dart gets taken out like what? But yeah, and also so Jackson Dart had a number of really good throws today. Theo Johnson had a really big catch late in the game that set them up for what eventually would become a turnover on downs on that very drive. Darius Sllayton had a game to forget following that opening catch. Dude, it’s And he Let’s see. Let I’ve been looking at some of the receiver stats real. I was been fumbling around for a bott water. Uh, you know, Theo had three for 72. Yeah. You know, that one big catch. Juanale 554 and a touchdown and then Sllayton 453 and then it’s I was, you know, I think it’s well known. I was proponent of the contract. It has been as disappointing as a season you could have gotten from Darius like he’s been injured. he’s been bad. Um he’s kind of his good games haven’t been that good, right? And he has dropped continued to drop the ball, right? Like he’s had two years basically of his entire career where he didn’t drop the ball his rookie season and then 2023 and it’s just never getting better, which drops are always part of the problem to Darius Sllayton. Um, and you look at the contract against other receivers and hey, that is like the middle to below middle tier, but he has to produce. And then when you’re dropping passes and big passes, right, he had the slant for a third down. Was a touchdown. A would be touchdown. It just kind of is extremely frustrating that he was a player where it’s like, hey, he is what he is and he’s not even putting up that. Like, it’s it’s been a frust it’s been it’s been a bad contract. It’s frustrating that they’re basically locked into having him on the team next year. Again, very clear proponent of of of that contract. It’s it’s been a failure. It’s been a failure because he just hasn’t had that, right? There’s com It’s not a conversation about him verse Juan Dale. It’s just Darius Sllayton versus himself and he’s just can’t come up small time after time after time this year and it’s just ending ugly. Yeah. Um I I thought Tyrone Tracy had one of his better games today. uh two touchdowns. The the the catch that he had for a touchdown. I I know the running touchdown was really good. A really really good cut. Very interesting formation. I would like to watch that on the film and and go slow. Take a look at what everybody’s responsibility was on that cuz it was interesting formation. Uh but he had a really good cut to score that touchdown. But the catch for a touchdown was ridiculous. He ran a good route like double move then came back to the football uh on like basically a back shoulder throw with Bobby Wagner in coverage which as slow as and old as Bobby Wagner is. This is an experienced veteran who has always been pretty good in coverage for a linebacker. So uh it was good to see that because we we’ve been kind of wondering what’s been happening with Tyrone Tracy lately. It’s good to see that that showed up in this game. Yeah. And they were like the Commanders had 145 rushing yards. Um it was over 100 in the first half and they kind of got away from it. Part of it is they kept on fumbling. Um and plus I want to we’ll talk about Mariota is just like the most ugly quarterback to watch in the NFL. It’s just like don’t throw don’t throw anything. Scramble throw away or check it down. Um but like the Giants actually I thought were a better rushing team than the than the Commanders in this game. like they consistently got, you know, three, four yards and then they were able to get a couple uh runs that were a little bigger. Dart had uh I’m looking at it now. Dart had 63 rushing yards, but Tracy had a good efficient day on 15 carries for 70 yards and a touchdown. Um let’s let’s talk Jackson Dar individually. We kind of talked around him. Um that first half was probably his the worst football that he’s played as a New York Giant. I would agree. It was so so bad. Like it was just misses uh not knowing uh not seeing stuff that was open like unsu uh you know being unsure and it was just the worst half of football I think that he’s played with the New York Giants. The second half was looked a lot more loose. Yeah. More loose running. He’s making some high leverage throws. Um and then the final drive was just off like he was this is part like they were throwing the ball deep down the wall on Dale which is like all right you know I don’t love it in that situation to make those contested grabs but it is do or die time. He just missed but yeah he was just he missed him twice on those throws and you know you end up even though even the touchdown to Juan Dale was a bad throw. You know, there was another throw to Sllayton where Sllayton had beat his guy pretty badly and Sllayton basically is waiting for it for to be a punt and the guy the corner just catches up and pops the ball out. So it was just that might even been on that touchdown drive that they had the one but like that’s where um so you so that’s again this is pretty forgettable game for Jackson Dor. Like I said the the first half was terrible where I’m like what what is going on here? Second half was making money throws. The Tyrone Tracy touchdown being uh you know the best one probably. Uh and then that final drive was just he just flat out missing his throws. I mean I would say that in this game this was probably a hydration issue for Jackson Dart. Would you agree? Yeah, it I think it was a hydration issue. I had a hydration issue because I didn’t bring enough body armor into the stadium. I tried to smuggle it in and they said, “No, you’re not allowed to.” And I said, “All right, I’m going to drink some body armor.” This episode is brought to you by Body Armor Sports Drink. You can bring the bottle on a plane. You can’t actually bring body armor. Gotcha. Gotcha. Um, Luis attack in the chat says he’s sipping on orange mango. Um, special teams were an absolute disaster again. Uh, kicking, punting, punt returns, everything was a mess. Yeah, it’s I mean I hate young Wu. Yeah, I mean you were wondering for a long time is like what is he doing in practice that there I think we understand now he’s not good at kicking the football. Honestly, Ben, if this is going to be a sentence that most people are gonna be like, “What did you just say?” I’m gonna be so pissed if Ben Sals is not the kicker next week. Like, young Wu is terrible. He doesn’t kick the ball if it’s not a perfect snap and just puts his foot in the grass and gets the punter injured. Uh, just had two of the worst field goals where it just never looked good at all. They look weak. They miss. Short wide right. Goodbye young way. Get him off the team. Let’s try up Ben Sauls. Maybe these three games he does good good enough for a futures contract. Yeah, maybe he does terrible. We’ll see. But just get Young Wu off the team. I can’t stand him. Um it’s he should retire. Go do whatever you want. You He’s a local kid, so maybe he could do something around here. Maybe we’ll run into him one day, but I just never ever want to see him kicking again. Yeah, I mean that it seemed like a no-brainer kind of signing to pick him up. Um he’s been uh I mean it’s just been an exercise in ah that’s exactly why the Falcons got him. Um so that that experiment’s over. Special teams as a unit this year has been I would say average to above average generally and in the last two games as a unit has been bad. Yeah. Flatout terrible the last two games. I don’t even know if it’s Michael Gobriel’s fault or whatever. Like Cameron Johnson the new punter with my giant factor you know was pretty terrible in this one. I I felt it I guess. I don’t know. I’m not a great a judge upon it. I’m gonna stop for a second. Crank, can you put your foot on the brakes and then start the truck back up? It’s a little push to start right there. The truck’s turning off and the heat’s going off. There we go. Oh my goodness. It’s getting a little colder. Um, this is this is I know most people Let’s see how many people we got watching. Yeah, it’s not not not the biggest crowd we’ve ever had for a recap podcast, but this is one uh that people will remember. So, we got to we got to do a little uh oh, there’s a story I want to talk about. I went to New York City. There’s a story I want. So, I want to do a little story time at the end, but yeah, the special teams are just flatout trash. Also, since we’re talking special teams, which I feel like speaks more to like coaching decisions and stuff. Um, it’s fine you guys. I don’t think it’s going to keep ringing. We’re going to hear it. I don’t know. Can you guys hear the ringing of like the the truck being like seat belt? put your seat belt on. Um, Kfka just challenges his [ __ ] like [ __ ] just cuz he’s like, “I want to challenge it.” Uh, well, so here’s what I’ll say. Being in the stadium is probably the worst for that because they’re not going to show you replays. We don’t have a great angle where we sit. I You have to be I mean, and in terms of angles where you sit, it’s just happen stance based on the play. That looked like a [ __ ] first down. That That drove me nuts. We thought it was a first down. Like, wait, he really didn’t give it to him. Throw us the challenge flag and then no replays and nope. Call is upheld. I guess the chat can ask us. Yeah, I mean, if the broadcast really showed it, I mean, that looked like a slam dunk. Like, I can’t believe they didn’t give him a first down. So, I guess, you know, again, we’re at a disadvantage where we are for it. But that didn’t seem like a stupid challenge to me at the time. very early in the game. I understand game situationally or whatever, but it looked like so obvious slam dunky that I was almost like, well, I mean, you get this one, you’re basically, you know, right in the same spot where you get another challenge later. You’re not going to lose a ton. Yeah, I guess. Oh, that’s another thing is that’s that’s what is is so both the coup’s kicks that he missed. Good point. I’m looking I am this is usually don’t look at the chat at all on recap podcasts. I do have it up on this just cuz I’m making sure everything stays stable. Um uh the first one I I couldn’t believe we didn’t go for it on fourth down there. May that might have been a fourth and seven though, so maybe I’m judging incorrectly. What was that? I thought it was fourth and six. So I mean we were all together. I kind of wanted them to go it was fourth and six. So um what do you what I mean what do you think of that one? I just don’t trust coup at all. saying a lot of it has to do with Coup and also like the uprights were moving like this was a windy windy windy game. That was a long kick, right? Wasn’t that like 40 plus 52 yard? It was a 52 yard. No way. No way. I mean like Yeah, I I I’m not doing that. Um so yeah, I I I thought that was interesting. And then the other one was beginning of the fourth quarter where they were down by eight and they had the penalty and they had third and 20 and Kfka just kind of handed it off to try and make it a a shorter field goal. Ends up being a 51 yard field goal and Coup just again it was the same thing. It was wide left. It was the exact same kick. Uh so I just didn’t like that. I I we’re not we were together so we we can’t say oh you’re just judging in the we were there. I I kind of was each one of those. Now I will say both kicks were coming at us also. They both were. So we were we were able to see how bad they were too which makes it even worse. Um which also being in the stadium I always say this in my one you know one or two games per year is that it just makes you angrier. It just as a human being it just makes you so much angrier at bad results. Um was I mean was there any other CFKA stuff? We didn’t want listen to the press conference. I’m sure it didn’t do I don’t think so. Oh that’s another thing. We had a list of people we want fired. So, we want to fire the special teams coordinator, Michael Gorru. Um, actually, let’s save this for Crank when Crank gets on because Crank probably kept a better list of the people we want fired. Um, what else was what else was there that you wanted to hit on before story time? Um, defensively, Flop played great. Yeah, the [ __ ] penalty they called. He had the pass break that almost turned into an interception. That was garbage from OSO. Um the huge I mean the only the only play that sticks out as just being inexcusable um was just the busted coverage on Terry McLaren for 50 yards that one. And you know what right before that last fumble when Holland just gets burned by John Bates and man covered. It’s like Holland it’s one thing that you I hate that you don’t make plays for all this money. Another thing is just to get consistently beat in like regular coverage and that drives me nuts about regular tight ends. Yeah. Again, like the a guy who the Commanders want to be their third string tight end and John Bates. Uh and the Commanders run game. Like it’s very funny. We were talking about this too. Like the Giants gave up 145 yards on the ground and it definitely feels like one of their better running defense games cuz it was just like well they didn’t get Oh, that’s what I want to talk about. I hate Bobby O’ Carrick. I I’m I’m so tired of him. He seems like a nice guy. I’ve had you know uh like you know little interactions here and there with him. His year one was amazing. He was my favorite thing to cut up was his his plays after games. Last year was bad. Like all right, let’s see what we have. And this year terrible. the the Jakori Kroski Merritt touchdown where he just looks so slow. He’s flowing with the play. Merritt cut cuts back and he’s just so slow and then that play on the sideline on the little swing pass. Yeah. What is he doing? What like what is he doing on that play? So I think Bobby Okay. Okay. I don’t hate him because he seems like a nice guy. He voted team captain, all that stuff, but I’m just like I’m so frustrated on him. Yeah. I’m so frustrated that we went from year one having that amazing year and now we’ve turned into he’s turned into like he’s just been flat out bad the last two years. Uh and I’m sure you know he’s better than having Jaylen Smith or whoever was out there before. But it’s just it’s a like kind of terrible feeling about this team is like Mike McFaden hasn’t played all year. He’s a limited player. I think they’ll be able to bring him back on a cheap contract. I don’t think he’s getting money, but it’s like what do you do with that first linebacker spot? So, well, he’s still signed through next year, isn’t he? Yeah, but they’re going to cut him. Okay. And hell, even if Shane is still here, like if a new GM comes, he’s definitely getting cut. Shane mentioned him in the preseason. You know, there was that preseason interview in the game. He mentioned him as like an expiring contract, even though he’s not an actual expiring contract. Um, Hyatt on the field and the returner issues didn’t show up, but it’s like why is Hyatt on the field? Why is Hyatt on the team when you can activate a returner because Gunnar wasn’t active? Yeah. Or even Xavier Gib. Actually, I don’t want Xavier Gibson. He fumbles so much. I’m not falling for that. So, but get Amir Smith more set back there. Um, again, we got to watch like the replays and stuff to see how bad of a route that was on the interception that Dart had. Dart still can’t throw it, but it was a it was it was soft route. He didn’t really come in tough. Um, and then also and just doesn’t come back to the ball. allows the safety or corner or whatever to just kind of like bully him to the ball. It’s just weak sauce [ __ ] So, um, and also it’s just like he’s so limited is is really like the big thing. Like he’s just only on the field every once in a while and doesn’t really do much when he is. So, um, is there anything Daniel Bellinger had a couple of really good plays on a drive that ultimately ended with, um, a missed field goal, I think, because of a personal foul penalty on John Michael Schmidz, which we couldn’t really tell what happened. Well, I saw JMS like kind of get into it with the player a little bit, jawing back and forth and it felt like a nothing thing where they just walk away and they just kept on going and obviously we didn’t get to see exactly what happened. Um, let’s see. Let’s see. We’re at 30 minutes. I I I really don’t think we need to make this a super long podcast. No, I you know, let’s let’s get Crank on the mic and let’s talk about who we want to be fired. It’s right. It should be right here. Crank it. He’s off camera. Thank god. Yeah. You don’t need to see my face. Um, can you hear me? Yeah. Can people can people can people hear crank? How about now? How about now? He said, “How about now?” Let me know when he says, “How about now?” There we go. How about you? How about you? Why hasn’t turbo? That’s a I’ll be honest. I’m looking at I’m looking at the chat. This is not your normal reaction podcast and uh to be thinking about Turbo Miller on a day like this is crazy to me. Big Dave. Yeah. I mean, as a returner, um you have Dante Banks back there instead of him. Okay, I guess that’s why I thought that’s close enough. But but again, he doesn’t really offer that much juice as a returner that we saw that it’s just very much straight, but also that’s kind of what Banks does and he looks dangerous out there. All right. So, with this, Welcome to Cranky Fan. He’s the co-host of the Just Giants podcast. Go subscribe. If you go to our I I customized our channel. So, now it features you guys as a channel. Uh, so go subscribe to it. I’m I’m interested. I can’t When are you guys going to record your recap podcast? I I mean, I assume tomorrow night, right? We got to do Tuesday. We got to do Tuesday. Yeah. There you go. So, it’ll be out Wednesday morning. I was hoping to have it for the plane ride home. Um, we can do it in 20 minutes if you want. I’d like to see. Uh, what’s our list of people we want fired? We obviously want Joe Shane fired. Well, I have a list here. It’s actually on Giants.com. Everybody want fired. Chris Merrick, Kevin Abrams, Ten McDonald, Ed Triggs, Titles, Charles Tish, Jesse Armstead, Courtney Kennedy, Mike Kfka. We’re not going to fire Marquan because he’s a Gator. Uh, Shane Tierney. This the whole list is on the Giants website. We want fire. Well, I mean, after this game though, who’s who who are we going after? So Joe Shane number one. Okay, that’s the easy one. I think we said Kade Knox because he’s the guy who’s like up in the box who talks to my cat. Yeah, that’s the one we were talking about during the game. It’s just like he’s being fed bad advice on making Oh, apparently what is it the fifth or sixth play of the game we’re challenging already? I mean, even if it’s egregiously wrong, the potential for losing that challenge so early doesn’t make any sense. We are firing uh the special teams coordinator, Michael Gorriel. I actually kind of like Michael Goro seems like a smart guy, but we after today we got to fire him. Yeah. How much is he involved in decision for like who’s going to be on the roster? Like you know, probably little because the special teams coordinator coaches always are pining for more of their own guys and they Yeah. One of the thing he’s been pretty good with dealing with the new kickoff rules. I think if you go back to the beginning of years and forward, I think he’s done a pretty decent job of like, you know, adjusting to them and coming up with game plans to kind of like directional kick and force teams to have to return stuff and whatever. But ultimately over the last two weeks, it’s been absolutely god awful and punt coverage and stuff. And like that punt return for a touchdown was why I mean we had the greatest angle of it. I could have drove this truck, that van, and my truck through the hole. Yeah. It was like the Red Sea. Um and and the one before that that we it felt like that uh Jaylen Lane, who the Giants liked in the draft, by the way, was going to just run through uh Johnston’s chest, the punter. Yeah. And they just got his ankle and and and the exact same thing happened on the same time. They just weren’t able to get his ankle on that one and they got the touchdown. The one thing I will say in his defense though, and Grump and I were talking this leaving the stadium, is that when you’re 2 and 11, 2 and 12 team, you have a bad roster. Especially when guys get hurt and you’re getting thinner and thinner and thinner and the pieces you’re playing with in special teams are bad. Worse and worse. Yeah. So, it’s like, you know, I generally am not as critical of coaches as I am players have to play. And when you’re playing with garbage at this point, relative NFL garbage, it’s hard to blame everything on special teams coordinator or even offensive defense coordinators. So, I’m going to give a little bit of flexibility with him, but I would still out of here for next year. Yeah, we just got We got to f This is We kind of just got to be a little more liberal with this podcast. Fire just, you know, loose with it. We got to fire people. We’re going to fire whoever decided that they shouldn’t have plowed the parking lots before the game. Like, literally, the entire lots were covered in snow. Um, well, if we’re going to do this, let’s just fire the owners of the Jets, the Giants, the New Jersey Mental Association, the the governor of New Jersey, the president of the United States, the kingdom of the world for why this stupid stadium does not have a roof. I mean, I don’t mind not a roof, but there it should be burnt down. I like I like weather. I like weather. I like weather, but here’s the thing. This is a miserable team. There is no reason to come to this stadium today. We’re coming here cuz we we’re obligated to for our loyal fans out there. So So we we can talk about like how just how empty this stadium is. That’s another thing. But here’s my point. There’s At least if you’re in a dome or something and it’s 72 degrees like, “All right, let’s go watch this horrible team, but at least we’re not going to be miserable.” I mean, we were miserable. I mean, I don’t know if you guys remember 2000 we played Jacksonville, last game of the season. It was like 10 degrees. It was miserable. But there’s a difference. Giants win that game, we are the one seed throughout the playoffs. This we’re talking about first round draft picks and firing everybody and you know killing people. So make it at least if we’re watching garbage, we’re comfortable. Yeah. Yeah. Um so we need to uh fire young way. That’s a must. I need to see Ben S. I assume the grounds keepers for the for the parking lot. At least one of them that maybe the head one, the guy who gets a lot of money but doesn’t actually have to do any of the actual manual labor. Um, let’s fire New Jersey New Jersey Transit because all the trains were delayed getting out. It took me forever to get here today. Um, let’s see. What else was there that we wanted fired? Um, oh, the guys at the concession stands cuz we waited for how long just to get to We missed like the whole like Yeah, you guys missed like four minutes of the third quarter. Yeah, it’s crazy. And you guys laugh and that was with everybody already getting a head start and a threequarters empty stadium. Yeah, that’s the thing is so I you guys were saying like cuz I’m there and you guys were just you know I’m not here all the time. you guys are like this is the emptiest we’ve ever seen it ever. And this is where like oh well you know you know they all the tickets already sold like all right this is this is a reflection of how bad the team is right like I understand that when the 49ers come in they have a good traveling fan base or the Pittsburgh Steelers or whoever but like this is a flatout reflection of like yeah here you are a bad team playing another bad team and nobody just nobody wants to be here right in the month of December. So Commanders fans are not really traveling to this game. Uh, I mean, in a little bit of defense, there was a whole bunch of people that were just never went to their seats and were just watching in the TVs in warmer areas of the stadium. Um, but that’s not too much defense. It was It was absolutely empty in there. Yeah. They were going for a trying to tie the game and it was just like maybe 6,000 people in this. Yeah, maybe. Like it was so little. Like everybody that was there basically had crowded down to like the first three rows, right? Ah, that was preseason game vibe is what that was. It’s even less because a preseason game like you get all the casuals that come because it’s a summer day. Yeah. And it’s and it’s a nice day and and they’re excited for football even if it doesn’t count. There’s no excitement. There’s no good weather. This was this was way worse than anything I’ve ever seen in terms of attendance. Can we also fire the guys who are on the scoreboard for telling us we should be loud when they’re on defense? I mean, I get it. There’s only 4,000 people there, but the ones that are there are probably the most dieharded, smartest Giant fans there are. We don’t need to be told stupid stuff like that. They’ve really in the last season have downgraded the fan experience in the effort of entertainment and Showtime. They’ve really dumbed it down to the point that it’s it’s embarrassing. I would agree with that. Well, and their entertainment is bad. They’re like, “All right, guess the lyrics. It’s the most popular song ever.” Oh, yeah. To man. Or the funniest thing was like, “Guess which player this is.” When they were younger and I was expecting like baby pictures. It’s just them like their first years of the NFL. It was like them at this at the combine. Yeah. It’s like this. It was like Andrew Thomas’s combine photo. Yeah. It was like, “Oh, this is the exact They look the exact same.” It’s like seven years ago. Like I couldn’t believe it. And they do like the DVD thing like you know how like the whole the whole scene from the office. I’ve never seen that before of Oh, really? I I remember last year being where they like you wait for get to the corner. You can’t just do that one time in a game and then let it hit the corner. You have to do that like eight times in a game and maybe it hits the corner or maybe next week it when it hits the corner and becomes that’s how you get a big the whole crowd cheers kind of thing. Yeah. And when it just when it’s just okay how long it’s going to take 15 seconds to hit it and then you’ll get a little fake cheer. I think I was in a can during that and I was probably happy I was possibly because I didn’t even know you were gone. Um yeah you came back you’re like what happened? They scored. I was like you didn’t see. Huge shout out for Mark. Uh, you know, cooked for us. He brought the bus out here early in the morning. So, very early. I mean, Mark might have been the first person in the parking lot. Yeah, I I think he was like the second person in line when I when I pulled up. Um, is there anything else you guys want to hit on? I have to tell a story for I went on one of those cruise lines in New York City, right? Was that the cruise around the Statue of Liberty to like Ellis Island? This weekend passes the Statue of Liberty, but it it goes it basically goes from Midtown to Midtown. Okay. Oh, you did the Circle Line. You did the half trip. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, tour guides are like, you know, they’re, you know, full of [ __ ] most of the time. Well, no, this guy, this guy’s good. Like, he’s funny, you know, he knows the jokes to make that play to the crowd and he’s, you know, he knows what to say and but he’s also like trying to run a a a clean product, right? So, and he’s not like a he’s like probably 60 years old, short, you know, not very tall. Definitely not intimidating at all, right? If he’d be a very unintimidating person. So, every about 10 minutes there’s like a little bar in the boat and people stand around it and he’s like, “Excuse me, folks. Please find a seat. You’re uh blocking people from seeing. You can’t stand there.” Right? And it’s just like, “All right, that’s t that’s probably typical.” does it about the sixth time he just just turns the microphone off, walks over and starts yelling at people and some lady wouldn’t move and then he says he gets in her face. I’m I I’m only going to do it for two seconds cuz it makes me uncomfortable just to do it to Grump as an example. He’s like, “Sit down. You are rude, inconsiderate, and going.” And then she’s just sitting there and he goes, “You’re not going to see another thing this entire trip.” So she would look to the left and be like, “Anywhere you move, I’m gonna be there just in front of everybody.” It was the greatest show on earth that I’ve ever seen. I like it made me, you know, I’ve seen New York City, so a lot of the stuff that he pointed out, but I was like, you know, it was just kind of a cool thing we did that was made it worth all the money in the world where I’m like, I need to see if this guy does this on a regular basis because uh and then the lady, you know, she spoke Spanish. Oh, so so she spoke she didn’t I think she might have spoken some English but she spoke Spanish and he walks away he’s like can somebody who speaks Spanish tell her that she’s rude inconsiderate and whatever other word it was I can’t even remember what other word he said there was three that he kept on going back to walking away and she said something in English and he’s like oh now you speak English can we get this guy on his regular feature for the Just Shines podcast be great. Oh my gosh, we need him at the stadium yelling at people. I won’t show his picture cuz, you know, we do have a decent amount of people that watch this show, but uh I was uh like this is this is amazing. Like, did he introduce his name? Like a first name. David. Yeah, his name is David. David. Uh circle line David. Yeah. Trying to think of a good nickname for him. David. So he was, you know, there’s little breaks where he’s not speaking and he he he does a good job, you know, and he’s, you know, biggest fear, uh, you know what the biggest fear people have in the entire world? It’s not death, it’s public speaking, you know, and then he’s talking about like, you know what they say in in in TV, if you have a 60% approval rating, you know what they call you? A god, I have a 90% approval rating. So here’s the thing. these guys, all these tour guides and stuff, they’re all failed actors. They’re like HR people at the office. They’re all failed uh actors. Don’t talk about Dave like that. So, he’s trying to do his spiel because maybe somebody will will, you know, notice him or something. Exactly. I was on a double deck bus in the city once. Me and Cranky wife are just driving around and this guy who was the tour guide was, you know, I don’t know if he was ex-military or what, but he was just pissed off from day one. And he’d give every time he’s like, “There’s the building on Fifth Avenue, which you know that loyal union guys did this and if it wasn’t for them, you people would have no homes.” Oh my for every little building. And finally some woman was like, “Excuse me, but you’re distracting.” Stops the bus, throws her off the bus. Oh wow. You are not a real American. You need to leave. I’m like, I I just want to see the buildings. I really, you know, show me about the Empire State Building. So I I think anytime one of us goes off, we’re gonna we’re gonna like we’ll have to make like a special graphic for like diabolical Daves diet tribes. I want him for the Giants head coach. Like I said on our Patreon Twitter account like he’s charismatic, confident, experienced, and he’s willing to hold others accountable. Like that’s exactly what the like circle Dave press conferences. C man press conferences be unbelievable. Um I he maybe not head coach. Maybe he needs to lead the the search for the head coach. Pat Halen. That sounds like like a special teams coordinator or like a strength and conditioning guy. The guy on the sideline is just going off after every play. People are saying this is a great ad, but and it kind of is, but um what else was there? But yeah, maybe they can sponsor the show. Yeah, I I was I was like this is I I got to go and I got to make sure I’m on when this guy’s on again. Uh so shout out Dave. I’m sure there’s somebody who listens to this show who knows David. Let’s do our show next week. Uh Grump from the Circle Line. That’s actually we should do a live show with Hold on. Oh, they just turned the bus on. I think that’s our call for to get the hell out of here. Oh, all right. All right. Um, which is It’s time. Real quick, what are we getting at Kendall? What’s our meals? I I’m going to go some type of omelette and a hot coffee. Just got to get got a nice hot coffee. A hot coffee. I’m thinking steak sandwich, but it’s a big menu. I could be swayed, but that’s where I’m leaning right now. Silver Dollar Flapjacks. Let’s go. I’m ready. All right. All right. Appreciate you guys. Uh, again, a little bit of a, you know, a unique podcast. Um, so we’ll we’ll remember this one. Hopefully, we get a better situation for the next one. Uh, or it just doesn’t get this cold ever again. All right. So, make sure to come out to the show uh tomorrow at Shannon Rose uh the Breaking Big Blue. Myself will be there. Grump will be there. Crank, you think you’re making it, right? I’m going to try to I got a Christmas party. I’m going to try to get there late. Okay. So, we’re, you know, we’ll be there. We’ll be doing a show from there. Me, Grump, and uh What time does it start at? Seven. The show starts at seven, but we’ll hang out, watch Monday Night Football afterwards. So, me and Cranky Wife may make an appearance. Okay. All right. So, uh we’ll see you guys when we see you. Until then, let’s go big blue.

  1. I wouldn't mind the lack of a roof either if the Metlife didn't look as ugly and outdated as the Stadium it replaced. I seriously get a little envious of seeing other teams get these shiny, modern works of art while we're stuck with a frickin air conditioner.

  2. The Giants are absolutely embarrassing from top to bottom. They have to fire EVERYONE. Lol, I'm so sick of the Giants being a clown show. If this game doesn't get Joe Schoen fired, Idk what will.

  3. At least I have the Knicks and Islanders. The Giants have to fire everyone, including Tim McDonnell. We really got swept by Washington in back to back seasons. Where is rock bottom? I guess 1st pick here we come. The Giants are the biggest tease just to make you suffer more. Lol the Giants clearly gave up and tanked this game! Fire Schoen today!

  4. Abdul Carter's best game by far. Giants need to bring back Robinson. Jalin Hyatt still being on this Giants team and causing Dart to throw a pick is a joke. Lmfao the Giants need a whole new special teams too.

  5. actually happy we lost. closer to keeping 1st overall and seeing Schoen out the door!
Browns and Jets have two 1st rd picks this year (Shedeur lost to Titans and sucked vs Bears). we could trade down and still walk away with WR Jordan Tyson or Carnell Tate as well as a LB in rd1. that would be awesome

  6. Dabol was a terrible HC but when they didnt fire him last year and drafted Dart that meant he needed to stay at least 1 more year (this year and next).. were doing the same shit we did with DJ all over again.
