Leafs vs Oilers Game 31 (THE MCDAVID SHOW…) (December 13th, 2025)
what used to be a great matchup in Matthews versus McDavid at Scotia Bank Arena on a Saturday night. Look, let’s be honest. If you’re a Leaf fan, you know that Conor McDavid has always been better than Austin Matthews. He is the best player to basically ever lace up the skates in the National Hockey League. And you showed and he showed why on Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotia Bank Leagues lose 6-3 to the Edmonton Oilers. And I’m sorry for the late upload. Obviously, a full day later, it was my birthday weekend with my friends. Had a great time, vibing all the time. It was just a great, great weekend. I wanted to give myself that chance to do that. And the Leafs gave me no reason to make an put up a video on the Saturday night. They gave me no reason to do so. But back to that conversation I was just having, Conor McDavid is the best player in hockey. There’s no if, ands, or buts about it. Period. He singlehandedly took this game over and won it for the Penguins, right? He scores the first goal of the game. Flying through the neutral zone. No Lee even attempts to really go after him, but man, he’s flying. He’s just so strong. It’s an incredible goal. Beast Hill to be 325 into the first period. That’s a statement to start this game. It’s one- nothing Edmonson. Late in the period though, Scott Lton, great dish to Een Cowan. He buries it for his fourth of the season. Uh four minutes left in the period. Lton and Lorent scrub assists and it’s 1-1 after 20 minutes. Shots are 1210 in favor of the Oilers. Second period, less than 5 minutes in, Oliver Ecman Larson, who he thought wouldn’t be playing for a while after barely being able to get off the ice a few games ago, fires in his fifth goal of the season. Max Doy Matthew Ny with the assist on the goal and the Leafs. All of a sudden, they have a 2-1 lead. But then the Conor McDavid show gets in full effect. He scores a goal on assisted at 1029. I can’t Which was the goal that uh I think it was might have been that one that Troy Stetchure. You sure he’s playing for the Leafs or is he still playing with the Oilers? I don’t know. He fires one in his own net. That’s great. Brutal stuff. Darnell Nurse scores with under a minute to play. All created by Conor McDavid. Disgusting stuff there. And after a horrendous turnover from Nick Robertson, it ends up in the back of your own net. Just cannot happen. And just like that, you go into the intermission down by a goal. Shots are 13 to 12 in the second period. And in the third period, Pod Coulson scores. Pod Coulson scores again. And then Zack Heyman scores just to put the cherry on top. And Loren scores within a minute to play. But who the hell cares? Leafs lose this one. Again, you are trailing by a goal to start the third period. You get outshot 12-6 in the third period. Right. Get a shot 3728 for the game. I mean, Hillby faced all six goals for some reason and they’re like, “Oh, Actyama, here you go, bud. Go in there and make five saves.” And he does, but okay, fine. Just a weird one. A weird one at Scotia Bank Arena. And Conor McDavid is a freak of nature. Like I mentioned, the best player in hockey. There’s no debate. But there used to be a little debate and not much of a debate in my opinion personally. I don’t care if I’m a Leaf fan or not. There’s never really really been a debate for me who the better player is. But now with seeing what Austin Matthews has become the last couple of seasons, it is as far as a gap between the two of each other and there’s ever been. Austin Matthews had a bunch of zeros. Had two shots on goal. So that’s your captain. That’s your 13 and a half whatever he’s making million-dollar man. Meanwhile, their guy has a three-point night. Plays over 19 minutes. Was a plus three. Yeah, sure. He only had two shots on that. Guess what? Both went in. Well, I don’t know if one Oh, hold on. That one might not count as a shot on goal because it went off. Troy Sher fired it in his own net, but in the end, a three-point night for McDavid, a plus three, Austin Matthews, zeros, and a couple shots. I’m sorry. Wouldn’t you get up for this game? I’ve tried to I’ve tried to keep the mindset of he’s getting better. He’s getting better. He’s getting better. And then I watch a game like I did on Saturday night and I’m just like, is he or is this this is this just him now? I don’t know. I truly truly do not know. And the Oilers got their new goalender in Tristan Jarry who was fine against the Leafs. Three goals on 28 shots, sub 900 save after trading away Steuart Skinner. And if you’re the Leafs, it’s back to the drawing board, right? Oliver Larson had a goal. Good for him. Dash three. Steven Loren’s goal and assist was a plus two. So there there’s that fourth line doing their thing. E had a goal. He was a plus one. Scott Lton assist a plus two. Your top your bottom your bottom your fourth line got it done for you today. Troy Set had an assist. He also had a goal. Uh it was a plus one in the game. Jake McCabe had an assist. Doi and N both had assists but were dash1s. Knander, where the hell has this guy been? He’s a dash three. The the conversations about Morgan Riley continue to be a thing. He’s a dash three. Tvaris three. Not a good night for those guys. What? And those are your big boys. Neander getting paid a crapload. Riley, your top t your top paid defenseman. John Dvarus, I know he’s getting paid top tier money, but he’s your assistant captain three. And obviously Austin Matthews, your captain, has two shots and is an even player. It’s not good enough. Wake up or don’t show up. It’s all I got to say. I’m going to wrap it up with that. All right. Next game for the Toronto Maple Leafs is on Tuesday night as they welcome in Connor Badard in the Chicago Blackhawks Scotia Bank Arena. Actually, he’s out right now, right? That’s what he got shoved at the center ice there. Is he out long term? What’s he? He’s not going on the road trip. So, he will not be playing against the Toronto Maple Leafs in that game. We shall see what happens, though. The Blackhawks have kind of fallen back down to earth. They’re a 500 team. If you’re the Leafs, you got to figure it out. And this is a game to do it. Do a job. Get two points, regulation, move on. And for the love of God, can one of your big boys show up and do something? I’d love it. All right. So, you know what guys, that’s going to do it for this one. You’re doing the video, not the game. Cuz who in the right mind other than everybody else? Other than Leaf fans, let’s be honest. Leaf fans hated it. Everyone else loved it. Smack the like button. Happy Belated Birthday.
Go leafs Go!
It's funny that in the time between the Leafs game and this video, my Oilers managed to get their show run in Montreal. It's so frustrating watching them look like the Harlem Globetrotters one night and the Washington Generals the next. Very frustrating stuff, though I'd still rather be us than the Leafs.
