Doc Rivers Postgame Press Conference | 12.14.25

That was awful. Awful um all around on me because I I clearly didn’t get them ready. Um and on us um give Brooklyn credit. They played hard as heck. They moved the ball. Uh they played right. Um we didn’t um we had we gave up 30 points and turnovers. um not until the beginning of the second half that we actually looked like a basketball team where we start passing the ball. But by then the basketball guys decided you can’t make any open shots now. Uh you don’t deserve it. Um so that was disappointing. Probably one of the more disappointing games I’ve ever been involved in um with the way we perform um and competed and we wanted to blame everybody but ourselves. You know, we’re blaming the refs. We’re looking at each other. Uh, no one wanted to play hard and you know um that was we got a lot of soulsearching to do. I think it’s 19 to 18 at at one point and obviously just kind of trading baskets. Yeah, but even then we were playing terrible like the beginning of the game. I think they scored on their first nine possessions and the the other two we got a steal, right? We got two or three steals. Other than that, if they got a chance to shoot it at the basket, they scored. And I I I don’t know. I think it was the first 13 or 14 times down the floor. Um and you could see it. I I I said right at the beginning, I turned to uh Dave Jäger and Darin. I said, “This is not we’re in trouble. You can see it. We could see it early.” Um but it’s so disappointing because you play that hard, that well, that together one night and then you turn around tonight. Um you know, it’s it’s funny. We don’t realize who we are right now. We we really don’t like I heard one of the guys said, “Man, we’re down that much to this team.” It’s like, “This team, what about our team? We’re 11 and 16. What are you talking about?” So, um, we need all of us, um, including me, like, you know, starts with me, but I got to get these guys right cuz clearly tonight was not the right night. Uh, Scoot has been so good for you guys for him to have that shooting night with the turnovers. What did you see from him tonight? Yeah, I thought our guards just didn’t want to pass the ball tonight, period. Now, I could care less about the shots. You know, it’s a make miss league, but the ball movement tonight, um, we had the exact amount of assists that we had turnovers. All right. Um, we showed nine clips at halftime, seven clips at halftime of guys wide open and someone else shot. Uh I think our first seven out of 16 shots were in between contested jump shots. We had five uh possessions in the first uh 20 with zero pass. You know, this was a game where uh we showed up in New York, Brooklyn, and we thought it was going to be a show. The problem is the other team thought it was a competition and we didn’t tell the other team, “Hey, let’s put on a show tonight.” Um cuz Brooklyn came to compete and we didn’t. And it starts with me. I I have to get him to compete. Uh defensively it it looked like there were some missed switches, some there was miss everything like um it it really was, you know, um so the film’s going to be long and hard to watch. Uh but we may watch the whole game because sometimes you may have to do that. Um I know we’ve talked about how spread out games are here and how that might be a benefit for you guys, but obviously another longer break. Yeah, I think it still is a benefit for us at the end of the day. Um, I mean, let’s just be honest, after this game, thank God we have three more days. Maybe we need three, four days between each game. I mean, if we can play like that again, but we got to we got to fix this. We really do. Um, when it is as bad as it was tonight, who do you kind of lean on in the locker room to to just all our coaches? the coaches are are are united and you know I don’t think the players are separating or anything like that but we we just didn’t play with the right spirit tonight.

  1. I still see the lights on the darkness .. line up of kpj gt kuz jericho myles played solid defense .. now create good offense for them and we can also put aj in that line up

  2. 😂. As I was watching the game I was just thinking about Doc having to talk to the media after a 40 point loss. I thought the game came on at 6 so I missed about the first quarter. They had a bad game Nets had a great game, there isn't a whole lot to really take away from it. 20 turnovers, the ball wasn't moving, took a lot of bad shots, missed bad and good shots, and was probably the worst game I've seen in awhile from anyone. They lost in every team statistical category except they had 7 offensive rebounds to the Nets 6. There's nothing to take away. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

  3. GTFO of my team. You FAILED the whole nation of Bucks. PeriodT. If your players are giving up on you during a game, coaching is the problem.

  4. Mr excuses really lost by 40 to a g league squad. Bucks Front Office needs to grow a pair and send this pathetic loser home to never coach another game in his life.
