Flames Dads Trip – MacKenzie’s Father, Scott Weegar
All right, I am joined by Scott Weaguer. Uh let’s start with the atmosphere in the uh suite right now as you’re watching this game. It feels a little tense in here a little bit. We we needed to get the first goal and it’s very cold. Otherwise, tell me how you’re enjoying this dad’s trip. It’s um extremely enjoyable just to uh gel with the the other dads. Um, we’re very fortunate for for Calgary uh the management ownership to do this for us and um I don’t get really throughout the year I don’t get to spend a lot of time with McKenzie. Um so this is really a a privilege. Um and I I what can I say? They uh they’ll fly us down here into the US. We have a lot of fun. We’re going to the football game tomorrow. Um, but yeah, it’s it’s a great atmosphere. Um, we just need to win the game. What stands out to you about life on the road for these guys? It’s they’re busy. Now they keep want to keep going. You know, they they they really have to manage their time uh when when they’re, you know, back to back uh games or or just I think their schedule this year has been kind of every second uh day. you know, if you get uh three, four days in a row, um I think the the guys look forward to that and it helps just getting their legs back and and uh aing them to compete a little harder, but um um yeah, they’re, you know, they’re they’re busy. Um I I’ve always said um the level of focus need needed by a professional athlete. We got a goal. I think we got a goal. All right. It’s good. Tai is good. You know to to discipline the the the level of of um focus uh on the game. You know, we we have the privilege of uh Coach Huska bringing us into the room and and uh Kale going through like the PK and the PP and and and like the four or five things they need to do to to compete. And one of the fathers said, “I had no clue what they were talking about.” So, it’s it’s um it’s just interesting to uh it’s not the the beer league hockey that I’m used to.
Come for the father-son memories… stay for the mid-interview goal reactions!
