Boston Bruins vs. Minnesota Wild | Game Preview | 12/14/2025
The Bruins are in the building as they get set to take on the Minnesota Wild. The bucket hat for David Poserno as we’ve seen on this road trip. It’s been a successful one for the Bruins as well. Goes perfectly with the uh the stadium series jersey unveiled. It has to be. By the way, we had a Hampus Lindome Stadium Series jersey in studio. I saw and they go on sale Monday. Boston Pro Shop.com. You can go to the hub on causeway. But Barry looked good wearing that jersey. It took a few years off. Yeah. And Razer wore it. Sophia wore it out on the road. Why didn’t you wear it? I don’t know. I guess I just didn’t want to go along. You probably didn’t have one big enough for the shoulders and arms, you know, you know, getting after. No big deal. Billy Jaffy. GG Marvin here. Good to see you here on Bruins Breakaway Live. Absolutely. Presented by Granite City Electric Supply. Uh looking forward to the finale of the road trip for the Bruins. Of course, Gigi, we got to bring you in, right? Playing Minnesota. I mean, it’s I mean, that was just kind of you. I mean, just hometown girl gets to talk talk about the Wild and how the Bruins are going to win, right? Absolutely. Well, it’ be nice to have playing a good team, though. It is a good team that got a little bit better. Yes. But they’re very impacted by injuries. Stop me if you’ve heard that before with an NHL team. Yeah, and the Bruins have been banged up all season long. Although they just got two big pieces to say the least back in the form of Charlie Makavoy and David Pos tonight. But no Victor Arbertson tonight and Jonathan Aspro not in the lineup either. That loss of both players, but in particular with Jonathan Aspro is enormous. And there’s no way you had that on your bingo card that I would say that October 10th or whenever the season began. So, credit to Jonathan for making himself a very viable and more than viable, a very important member of this team and the way that he plays and the type of minutes and just his overall attitude and and we talked about this yesterday on Morning Brew Razer and I about how he’s actually the guy lately that has gone on to other pairs to settle it down. And with that said, that is not an easy thing to do in your first ever full NHL experience. It’s not. and it he’s second on the team with plus eight and so he can as you say he’s versatile. He can play with anyone and he just like seems to thrive in this structure. He he’s doing he is engaging. He’s closing um closing quickly in the corners. He’s making the first read on the breakout passes and it’s just fun to watch. He’s definitely someone that early on the season, as you mentioned, maybe like a question mark, not certain, but now it’s pretty calm when you’re watching him play. Yeah, Marco Sturm had said recently that this is a guy that they pegged to fit in the Bruin system and he has done very well uh doing that but on the shelf along with Victor Arvdson as well. But they got David Posnock back which is a big thing. Electric play uh is presented by Granite City Electric Supply. Electrical contractors get free overnight delivery almost anywhere in New England with the GCE night train. Here’s Post. walks in, shoots, he scores. Pasta laista, baby. David Posternok, his second goal of the night and his fourth point of the evening. Bruins six, Jets three. You know, all David Postrock has done since missing five games before he was back in the lineup for the game against the Blues was pick up two goals and five assists, seven points in two games. No big deal for number 88. And by the way, Morgan Geeki was the team leader in points for a very short time and then Pasta gets the four-point game against Winnipeg and he’s leading the team once again. Just incredible. It is incredible. That’s the word that comes to my mind and what I love. He’s he’s gone. So, you kind of wonder are the legs going to be there? Are you going to be mentally sharp? Well, he was mentally sharp. He’s in the right places on the ice. He anticipates the puck so well and he’s just making good reads. Like that backhand pass, like just a smart play. Put it on net. Good things happen in this one also. He knew Zidorov had no other option but to throw it down the wall. What does he do? Already he’s anticipating it. Getting it popping out to his lineate for a good goal. Four points four different ways. That that was the thing, you know. So it wasn’t just past the power play. It wasn’t right. You know what I mean? Yeah. The empty net was nice, but overall he’s doing it in all different situations, too. Here’s the other thing, too. All right. First of all, he has a track record. Duh. Right. We’ve seen it now for the last what, five, six years. But th to me this this year and and I and I look at shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shoot shooting percentage an awful lot he’s right at his career average 13 and a half% so this is quote unquote normal for him right now he’s not doing anything you know off the charts crazy although you look at it you’re like how does he keep doing it but that’s why he’s one of the superstars we’re seeing him we’re seeing Capri off today we’re seeing another guy use we’ll talk about him in a moment but Posanak is right there with one of those superstars that keeps doing it cuz he has a repeatable game I’m stealing that word from Razer it’s a repeatable able game the way we’re seeing him play right now. And we saw him rise the ranks in Bruins history in terms of all-time goal leaders. Now in fifth place, passing the great Rick Middleton, nifty on this list and picked up his 74th multi-goal game against the Jets as well. He’s one behind the great Johnny Fusk for third place in Bruins history and he’s going to catch a couple of his teammates when it all is said and done uh this season perhaps. and Brad Marshian and Patrice Bersian not far behind them on the list. All right, the big story going into the game, big story across the league on Friday night. How about this trade between the Conucks and Wild, the Wild getting Quinn Hughes in exchange for a number of young players, ZooM, who had a a big game for the Canucks in his debut against the Devils, they won their game. Marco Rossi activated off injury reserve for the uh Canucks, now a young player who’s, you know, had 60 point season. and Liam Ogrren uh who is uh part of that package as well. Not to mention a 2026 first round draft pick. But uh in terms of what the wild gut Billy or I’ll I’ll I’ll throw it over to you Gigi. Uh this is a top flight defenseman uh that’s going to help a wild team that’s ready to compete now. And that’s their mentality. I mean Billy Garren went all in with a Cresoft deal, most richest contract in Nel history at the time. $17 million average annual value. So get Quinn Hughes who is such a star defensively and offensively. He has the legs to move out of get out of dangerous positions. He can walk the line with ease. He’s able to explode out of corners and pivots and turns. Watch how he opens his hips up here just to give himself a better angle. Drop pass, make a play at the net. I mean, he’s just going to be a fun player to watch in the Wild jersey. Yeah, this is a mammoth contract. Mega deal, whatever you want to call this. This does change the landscape in the NHL. not just the West in the NHL. Now, the one bad thing or tough thing for Minnesota is that they already in the brutally difficult central division. They’re going to have to play most likely Dallas in the playoffs. I mean, Colorado in theory should continue to lead the way. With that said, they have set themselves up for at least this year, probably next year, but after that, we don’t know because he’s not signed. There’s no guarantees. Now, I got to imagine Billy Garren has talked with Pat Brson, his agent to say, but according to Pat, he’s telling everybody, I’m not giving any guarantee if he’s going to sign anywhere. You talk about Mammoth contract, he’s going to want more than 17. He’s going to. Now, the owner there, he’ll pay it if they can figure it out. There’s no doubt. They’re the only team that can offer eight years. That’s the thing that they have going for him right now until se midepptember of next year uh coming up next year, then the end uh the uh CBA changes. Then it’s a seven-year deal max. So, he has an 8-year contract if he wants to stay with Minnesota there. And they have a full year to say, “Hey, look at all the lakes we have up here.
