I don't get what you guys are doing. I thought you were supposed to be tanking since you only have the 2026 draft pick remaining. Why are you trying to win games? Won't that affect your draft pick chances? The 2026 draft is loaded and could provide some help to Cooper for the future. I keep hearing they might bring Kyrie back in February, but for what? To make the play-in and lose to OKC in 4, like Memphis last year, while losing a potential top-five pick? Unless you are trying to make AD look good for a potential trade, but you still have the Kyrie situation. I actually watched the video above to maybe get an idea of what's going on, but I just opted to hear from you guys instead.

We literally just fired our gm after the season started.
Nobody knows what’s going on.
Contrary to what you believe, we actually have no say in what the team does.
Nobody knows man, we’re going with the vibes and the vibes are going to the wrong direction no matter what direction it is
then after/still ongoing thunder, come along spurs, alongside hawks after getting pels pick + antman in 2029, with sprinkle of rockets/pistons, maybe boston or pacers or nugs keep doing their things for a while, then in 5 years nets already get 3 straight top 3 pick, then sam presti wants new adventure and building big market new york from the ground
**then when’s the right time to do it?**
timeline is overrated. great roster 1 through 12, good coaches, GREAT TEAM DEFENSE, good enough offense, reasonable on paper…..go for it, who knows health and luck on your way. i dont believe in timeline, i believe in “windows”. this is good 2/3 years windows then re-tool, even mavs cap book will agree with me
* orlando tanked for years, getting two modern wings, and hit the draft pretty well, do the big trade, now people hated paolo
* cade drafted in 2021, now pistons only show life 4 years later, y’all believe in 2nd option Jalen Duren that will command near max starting next year? hell they even dont wanna trade for lauri or mpj
* jazz out of nowhere traded gobert and mitchell 4 years ago and where are they now?
* oooohhh, zion generational talent. OOF
* damn memphis Ja-JJJ looks scary. LOL
* knicks starting 5 all there via trade. pacers + cavs + nugs mixing draft and trade (even their best player!). minny traded their 1st franchise player for depth
* hawks now looked good, and still think they should ship trae
* even spurs needs to survive dejounte/vassell era before lucked into 3 straight top 4 picks
reminder : there’s good chance that this is the best roster that cooper will ever had, 2 top 75 players of all time man
*PSA : doesnt mean i’m opposed of trading AD though. but pls, re-tool not rebuild and we can do it*
My theory is that we use AD and others to just get a 2026 top 5 pick and more in the summer window. Why make bets on picks landing in the lottery if you have can snag a sure thing? Yes, they may be able to “get more” now, but to me it’s not about getting more, it’s about getting another Cooper Flagg level talent. Which is exactly what we need if we want to be competitive in 3 years.
So, your return on AD become becomes a 2026 top 5 pick (in addition to our own pick) that sets us up for the future. Klay and others get traded for young pieces or additional draft capital and now we have a young squad to run with.
Additionally, we could also trade into the 2027-2029 drafts. Honestly, no ones knows how teams will perform. Crazy shit happens every season.
We have an agreement with Darryn Peterson to feign a chronic hammy.
I don’t think anyone offered anything much for AD so now they’re stuck and forced to just play it out.
They’re not willing to egregiously tank (play Dlo and Caleb in clutch, AD at 4 in stagnant double big line-ups, etc), so they’ll probably end up with a mid-pick this year, followed by a bunch of bad ones.
It’ll be team building on hard mode. They’ve got Flagg, so if something lucky happens with a trade or draft pick, it could all work out, but as things are going, it won’t be easy.
