Mo Vaughn was turns 58 today! Born in Norwalk and attending Seton Hall University, Maurice Samuel Vaughn was drafted in the first round of the 1989 draft by the Boston Red Sox. He spent eight seasons with Boston, hitting 230 homers and won the 1995 American League MVP award. He signed a six-year, $80-million deal with the Anaheim Angels on December 11, 1998; Terry Collins was his manager with the Angels in 1999 before Collins was fired and replaced by Joe Maddon. He didn't play in 2001 due to injury and the Angels traded Mo Vaughn to the Mets in December 2001 for Kevin Appier. Vaughn spent the last two seasons of his career in Flushing, hitting 29 homers in 166 games for the Mets. On June 26, 2002, he hit one of the longest home runs in Shea Stadium history that went an estimated 505 feet. Today, he is now a real estate developer.
Mo Vaughn's manager during his time with the Mets, Art Howe, turns 79 today! An infielder who played for the Pirates, Astros and Cardinals from 1974 to 1985, he became a manager in 1989 with the Houston Astros. He managed the Oakland A's from 1996 to 2002 before joining the Mets for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He had a 137-186 record as manager of the Mets.

Bellinger and Laureano make the most sense for us. Bellinger gives us positional flexibility in positions we need to fill. Laureano would be a great cheaper (assets) pickup, also in an area we need to fill.
