12/14 PHI @ CAR Postgame: Rick Tocchet

this this game’s always going to be a bit of an uphill climb regardless of uh uh the opponent or anything like that. What what uh what did you see that kind of progressed to them getting a little bit better in the third and getting that that tying goal? Yeah, we pushed scrappy. Uh I liked our third obviously we hung in. I mean I had some moments early on. Bunch of kills. I think we had six penalties. Like that that’s tough but uh I thought the guys hung in there. What did you maybe like about the new power play units? They seem to be clipping a little bit more as the game wore on. Yeah, I I think we I don’t know a month ago we went to similar the we had some success. That’s all. You had some guys step up while Cam York was out, but I’m sure it’s nice to get him back there and get your standard rotation going. Yeah. Yeah, I thought Yorkie was good and um Dy’s Dry has been really good all year. uh you know, S like I thought the decor was hung and they were coming at us pretty hard there and we’re on our heels a little bit with taking those penalties and then once we started getting our legs um that we got some opportunities and obviously that’s a big goal there Trev got for us. He did change up the defensive pairing looked like halfway through the second period. What was maybe the the thought process behind that? Yeah, I thought Emil was struggling. He’s been struggling the last couple games. Not struggling, he’s been a little bit off. Um just try some different things. And then Trevor, he led the team in individual scoring chances. He looked like he was one of the, you know, better players out there from even from the jump. What did you see from him? And and how much did he really drive like the Oh, he wants the puck. He wants to make plays, you know, and you know, and that’s, you know, that’s what we want from him. He’s been doing it all year. So, uh, yeah. And then when he gets the puck, he’s he’s making plays through the middle of the ice, which is nice. What’s kind of the conversation or your message, I guess, to the team after that first period? Well, it’s just, you know, we were a little little a little on our heels. Um, they they press you hard. Um, you know, you got to meet pressure with pressure. I thought when we had the puck, some guys, you know, they were just kind of they weren’t they didn’t demand the puck. Third period, we’re demanding it, you know, and I think that’s we we got to try to do that for 60. We’re, you know, that’s the that’s the goal for us to to do every game. But I I listen, it’s a it’s a tough team. We got we scrapped out a point. Um, you know, Trevor hits the, you know, the post there in in the shootout. Who knows what could happen after

  1. He hates the crappy play…. It must be hard to be at the bench and watch the players NOT do what they are taught…. There ain't no way he is teaching them what we just saw two nights in a row.

  2. I agree with most of the comments, but We need to keep in mind The Hurricanes are a great Team, Vegas is a good team, the Avs are the best team in the league, anyways loving how hard Their working every game, that all We can ask for, still another year of hard times, but here’s hoping GO FLYERS

  3. Flyers are going to toe to toe with the best teams in the league. Two nights in a row all the way to a shootout with Carolina who is in first place. The arrow is pointing up with the Flyers.
