This is exactly what we’ve been waiting to see…

This is what we have all been waiting to see. Yes, Ivan Deidov started shooting the puck, but it’s Uri Slavovski dominating the game in more ways than one with a silky pass to Nick Suzuki, but also the depth scoring stepping up. Joe Valento getting a goal, Alexander Texier being up to five points in 10 games. The Montreal Canadians a top tobottom put on an incredible performance versus the Edmonton Oilers and even get that critical goalending performance that we have got a couple times in the last few games. This is what we’ve been waiting for, Jesse. And if you want the Habs to keep up games just like this, hit that like button. We’re going for something huge today. 1,000 likes. Like one little click helps us out a ton. And hey, it helps the Montreal Canadians win hockey games when you click that like button. So much to love about this game, Jesse. Two points for Slavowski, who is now at 10 points in his last 10 games. This was his nineame stretch before tonight, but two points. He’s now at 10 points in his last 10 games. So many great things. The 5v5 hockey was pretty equal, but we scored a couple goals at 5v5. The power play helped carry us. Jesse, what what stood out to you in this game? Cuz to me, it’s the top end, Slaf, Hudson, but also just the whole team really finally chipping in, putting in a good defensive performance, and really neutralizing one of the better teams in the league. I think the consistency from this team right now is the thing that’s just shining out. So many guys that’s on those points. We see Slaf on that 10ame point. Unreal. Five game for Nick Suzuki. Cole Cfield has been unreal, right? We say Slap’s been like the best player for this team, but like we got to remember Cole Coughfield and all this. Hudson just continue to get points. Demidov, right, who’s on a little bit of a heater himself right now. So, I think that that’s kind of the biggest thing, but also like just winning this game really from like start to finish and looking good while doing it, Josh, cuz like it was 4-1, but we know it could have been like so much more, right? We had those four breakaways um here tonight. So, again, a very good look for the Munch and dominant win. But what could have been even more so, but you have to feel happy with the effort here tonight. Absolutely. And looking across at the stack cards, like everyone had a positive game score. Literally everyone. It was incredible. And then when I say top to bottom, I mean it. And you look here, there was really not that many players that stood out head and shoulders above the rest. It’s pretty consistent all the way down to the people that didn’t play that much. And it’s actually Alexander Texier who led all forwards in game score with his great goal. again, five points in 10 games for him on pace for a nice little season here as a guy that we just signed kind of out of nowhere when the Blues terminated his contract. But, you know, Evans with a great defensive game, right? Incredible penalty killing the five on three that they killed. You could argue that was the turning point and it was pretty early, right? Nick Suzuki just again and I want to point him out because there’s a lot of talk about team Canada stuff. The Suzuki Cfield Boulder Klein was the Hab’s best line in terms of expected goals for percentage which at is 49.35. So really the Oilers did play a pretty good 5v5 game by the advanced metrics but hey guess who came out on top. But so many good things again with the top line. Suzuki like you said fivegame point streak and he was he’s been snake bit. You have to wonder like how good is this guy going to end up being? He leads the team with 37 points and how many more goals could he have this year? Jesse breakaways so many chances. He could easily have 15 goals this year. And I I guess it’s easy for me to say, but leading the team, winning faceoffs, this guy, before we dive more into Slath and Demi and maybe even Hudson, I we got to give Suzuki his flowers. Sometimes I even though we acknowledge he’s our best player, even though he’s top one or two in Selki voting at this time, sometimes I still feel like people underestimate just how much of an impact guy he is night in and night out. Yeah, again, the rock of this team. So nice to see that just around the board. It’s looking like he’s a consensus pick to to be on team Canada and again just showing why just in so many ways here tonight. Um can just be used in so many different ways. So just amazing for him to see Josh. But like obviously some of his teammates now starting to make him look good. That’s the big role reversal and the big talk of the town lately. Josh is like we’re seeing that like Nick Suzuki notably he’s the playmaker making it so easy for his teammates. But here we see now is your Slavowski making it so just making it look so easy for his teammates against Shosh. What did you think of his performance here tonight? Oh, insane. I mean, just incredible. It’s Slapzilla. Now, this is what we’ve been waiting for. This guy that like I don’t know what got into him, but he just realized I can use my size and I can dominate everywhere. This past Devon, but then the screen in front is like underrated here on Picker. We got to just look at this little brush screen here right in front. What a play. Just smart. right spot, right time every single time. Valento there, but this little nice seam pass their back door and again that’s Suzuki making some space for himself but everything Slav has done his decision making to his his shooting the puck more his playmaking has been ridiculous. Yes, I know if you look at the lines that Slaf happen to me off line is not great in terms of expected goals for percentage but the advanced analytics can only paint so much. Slaf has been so good on the power play and look only even getting 16 minutes tonight Jesse like the other night Veno played more than him but he doesn’t care. He comes out every night and does his best. And I think that what he’s been doing recently has elevated this team to a level that when we’re on Slav can just really be a differencemaker in a game and it’s exactly what we wanted when we drafted him first overall and we’re counting on him. And then we get a little bit of depth here tonight from let’s say a little bit of Valeno and then maybe you could put Texier into that category as well in that bottom six looking very skillful. you have to say with the puck like even in overtime it’s like again these points like the more that you watch him with the puck it seems like not a coincidence like this guy’s gonna get his fair share so just seemed like a very good addition there was some guys they could have picked up um you know a very very calculated move here but Josh like we have also have to talk about a Yakob do made some big saves in that third period to keep it the big win like it really deserved to be I know we got that late insurance goal but like obviously Jakob doves making 27 saves here night. Are we seeing the new duo here? I want to ask you I I want to ask our fans sound off because I’m I’m curious. I want like is it Fowler? Is it Dobbe? Like do we feel comfortable saying that or is is that too premature right now? I don’t think it’s premature. I mean I think it says a lot when you see Monty backing up three straight games. Like I I think they clearly are like okay let’s just have Monty like be there if something goes wrong. We don’t want to force someone into it. Like it’s weird. Um, but like Dobish said at the end of the game, they asked him about the goalending situation. He said, you know, I just want to win. Like we’re good. We just want to win the cup. Like that’s it. These guys don’t care and they just want to win. And you know, that’s it for Doves. It’s the case for Monty’s. It’s the case for Fowler. But to give you a a direct answer to the question, I can’t help but feel Monty’s lost the net. And look, I I feel bad for the guy, but just based on the team actions, based on what we’re seeing, it’s not his net right now. I mean, Fowler, yeah, that game against the Rangers was tough, but he got hung out to dry. He didn’t deserve the performance in front of him. He played great and well, you know, he did like whatever. Anyway, it doesn’t matter. The game against Pittsburgh was very good. Do tonight very, very good. Some great high danger chances. Like, I don’t know, Jesse. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that these guys are at the moment clearly the best two guys on the roster. And if Montreal wants to win more games, I I don’t mind having Monty backing up whichever one of Doves or Fowl are starting, but it seems to me that it seems to me if Montreal wants to win, they got to go with one of these two guys in at least every game now until one of them has, you know, gets kind of blown out of the water or something. Which is why this performance from Dolash is so big for this team here tonight to really get that confidence that we can have a duo that we need because remember Jacob Fowler himself is very young. And while you could say that this is a very young duo to ice here between Jacob Fowler and Jakob Dolash, again, you know, Jacob Fowler is looking like he has some experience beyond his years right now. So, this means a lot for this team because we can get those goals. We’ve kind of shifted up those deep pairings. We can get a little bit of better goalending. I think like that’s a really big um look for and strong look for this team of what they’re capable of cuz again we’re only one point as you’re flashing the standings up here out of first in the Atlantic right now which is um absolutely so huge again honorable mention we have to say the the lane train himself which just continues to chug along two points here like you know he can be the like the flashy guy getting the goals himself and I love to see him shooting more he was doing in this game but like Josh isn’t he just so often the guy behind the scenes where it’s like he’s getting points like, okay, he’s setting up flatwood, then who’s setting up the other guy or just so many times we’ve seen over this course of games, right? He’s just racking up his points. Definitely taking a page out of Nick Suzuki right now. Well, like he was second in the NHL, I think, to to Quinn Hughes in terms of puck possession per game. Quinn Hughes is far and away first, but still Hudson like he controls the play so much. And yes, you could say, “Oh, secondary assists.” Yeah, he does get secondary assists, but that’s because he’s the man setting up all the other people. He sees Slap down there. He’s the one giving Slap the pass down low or at least to Demi to slap back to he’s creating it all at the top and he’s the guy that can get the puck into the zone a lot of the time and 28 points in 32 games now Jesse like 14 points in his last 14 games this guy could very well break 70 points this year and like if all goes right he could even go higher if Montreal keeps clicking at this rate. So, you’re absolutely right. Lane Hudson, Nick, Suzuki, Cfield. Yo, he didn’t score tonight. Okay. Was still played a good game overall. That first line was good, but you’re right. One point out of first in the Atlantic. An incredibly tight division, by the way. What on earth are we seeing here? Now, I got lucky. Boston got smoked by Quinn Hughes and the Minnesota Wild. Still insane for me to say that uh tonight, so it helps Montreal a little bit. But Detroit Tampa, like we got a big week coming up. And hey, we’re going to be right here after all these games. Make sure you’re tuning in every single day. We got the latest. That’ll do it for this episode. But hey, reminder at the end if you haven’t clicked that like button yet, if you do, Montreal will score more goals and win more games. Thank you for tuning in every single day. I’m Josh Goss, my cohost. We’ll catch you in the next one.

  1. We shouldn’t bandwagon jump so much onthese young goalies.. they cant handle this type of media pressure.. yall gonna have quinton miller debuting b4 long..lol

  2. After the first Oilers loss earlier this season, im glad the Habs were able to really lay the hammer down against them. What a entertaining game by the boys!

  3. I just subscribed to your channel. Heck, I really look forward to watching your recaps after every game.
Look at the young kids we got,
    Fowler, Demidov and Josh
Plus our vets, Suzuki, Caufield and Jesse.
    Keep it up guys 👍

  4. No matter what happens, this is a very exciting YOUNG team. No need to dump all over them (and the coach) whenever they run into a bump in the road.

  5. Credit to Marty who "talked" to them after last night and made the proper adjustments tonight.
If you're going to dump on him when they lose, you have to give him his due when they win, right? Right?

  6. The team is a FULL year younger then the next youngest team in the league. People are being way too harsh on this young team. They are in the playoffs despite the problems with the defense and goaltending.

  7. Congrats guys on 24K subscribers! Great game by all from start to finish. The heat map shows they attacked the Oilers net… finally! The Oilers attacked our net too, but Dobes was on tonight.

  8. love the hat Jesse! Everyone contributed to the win last night. Great game. Slaf is just beginning to show why he went #1 overall. Keep the faith and Go Habs Go!

  9. Please slow down. Too much hype distorts the long view. The Habs got three of four road points. They convincingly defeated the Oilers. Dobes and Monty will return to form and we will carry on. Breathe ……….

  10. What I saw last month is interesting for the future of goalkeeping strategy in Montreal. I'm not sure, but Monty and Dobes were at their best after a long, one-game break. We have 3 goalies..so why try something that no one has tried? Please excuse my English, I'm from Slovakia.
