  1. “Earlier today, Juan Soto spoke on a Dominican sports program and media outlet “El Padi TV” about Pete Alonso signing with the Orioles:

Soto said he knew about the news before it became public, explaining that he stays in constant communication with the team.

He added that he and Alonso got along well, calling Pete a tremendous player and an even better person — someone who truly cares about his team and always wants what’s best for it.”

  2. Daily reminder that most sports “journalists” and talking heads have no inside info about anything and literally just make things up for clicks.

  3. I mean, wtf you expect him to say? It just an athlete speak PR non-answer. If he really wanted to dispell the narrative he’d give an in depth answer demonstrating they really understand each other. But he couldn’t because they don’t; it’s plainly obvious that they have polar opposite personalities. Which is fine, and I really don’t think the root cause of the any clubhouse problems.

I think the real clubhouse problem is there was a subtle bifurcation of leadership where Latino players looked to these 2 and/or Marte as leaders, english speaking players looked to Pete/Nimmo as leaders, and having two groups, though they got along personally (especially Pete), lead to a sort of leadership vacuum.

Obviously there were more on-field and financial reasons to move on from Pete/Nimmo, but it also (hopefully) will help clubhouse cohesion to have fewer big dogs in the room.

  4. Where did the rumor that these two dont get along even come from? It sounds like complete engagement farming to me

  5. This is embarrassing. I need Lindor to stop being a family man and start only hanging out with Soto after games. /s

  6. Look there’s too much smoke to ignore it outright, but that smoke is probably just a little brush fire you can stomp out with your boot and not some 1,000 acre forest fire. Hopefully the new mix of players can change the locker room dynamics enough.
