Here Come the Excuses? Are the Falcons Really Bringing Back Raheem Morris?
Raheem Morris is coming back. Yeah. And the sale is going to be, look, we got hurt. We won five games. You gave two away with two bad kickers. You’re on your third kicker. Your starting quarterback was injured for the second year in a row. He missed nearly half the season. It could be Drake London misses half of the season. And your defense got better. And once we got our feet up under us, we got better at the end of the year. That’s going to be the cell for the Falcons and for Raheem Morris to come back to coach next year. Not only that, the kicker, you also lost two games in overtime. So, they’re going to say, “We were a play away from winning four more games.” No doubt. This is a tweet I saw over the weekend, which I liked. I probably should not have, but Garrett uh tweeted this out. The 5-9 Atlanta Falcons could easily be 10 and four right now. Some game results from this year. three-point loss to the Bucks at home, onepoint loss to the Patriots, overtime to the Colts in Berlin, overtime to the Panthers at home, three-point loss to the Jets. What could have been? Yeah, but what isn’t um is who you are. I mean, you’re just you’re a mediocre football team. And my problem is I’m we’re going to hear the spin at the end of the year. And that’s I guarantee they found that tweet because Lord knows the Falcons listen and follow anything anybody says about them and they’re going to have that up on a spreadsheet. More than that too, the offense was the big problem, Finn. It still is. And well, you say, well, you just scored 29 and that’s the problem. You were scoring 10 zero 10. Uh, you weren’t finding ways in overtime to get a field goal when you needed to. So, the offense has been the problem. I think most people would say outside of the 30 to nothing affair, we still had a lot to do with your offense not doing anything. Um, the defense has certainly been the more consistent unit. There’s been special teams, kickoff returns, missed extra points against the Patriots, two kickers fired cuz they couldn’t make kicks. I’m telling you, that’s going to be the sill. We lost the QB. We didn’t have our number one wide receiver and they took that was out before the season starts, right? We got rid of our number two receiver because there was an argument with somebody about something else. No, no, no. Our number two receiver broke his collar bone and nobody told us that. They said it was just a dayby-day thing. Divine Diablo was gone in the bad defensive game. A lot of stuff happened. There’s no question about it. There’s a lot of adversity, a lot of variables, but that’s football. That’s the National Football League. How do you overcome? How do you coach yourselves into wins? And I guess that’s the one thing we haven’t done is gotten an advantage from our head coach on the football field or offensive coordinator in game in the in the field of play in these clutch moments that we’re talking about. Haven’t the 49ers dealt with a lot of injuries this year? Yeah. M. Jones has like Mac. Jones I think has more starts at this point than Brock Perie. Did didn’t their starting linebacker get hurt against us? Weren’t they playing like guys off the street? They’re 10 and four. I I don’t want to hear what we could have been or what we we are what we are. Medio. But John, if you win three out of uh these last four games, you have eight wins. I would ask I don’t care. And you’re still under 500. I’m just telling you to sell. I’m asking you if we start it over. We reverse engineer this thing. You start at the beginning of the season. I tell you, you’re going to lose your offensive lineman Finn. You’re going to lose Drake London for half the season. You’re going to lose Michael Penn Jr. for half the season. You’re going have to fire two kickers. You’re going to have a bad stretch without Devon Diablo. And you win eight games. Doesn’t matter. How many games do you think the Falcons should have won? Yeah, it doesn’t matter. I just want to know what you have won. It’s coming. I’m telling you what. You are in a division and I know point differential doesn’t mean everything, but it kind of does. You’re in a division where nobody has a positive point differential in the NFC South. Tampa, who leads the division, is at minus 27 for the year. The Panthers smoke and mirror in their way to min at minus 53. We’re minus 60 and the Saints are minus 106. That means you’re in the worst division in football and you’re only one game up on the New Orleans Saints with a game to play against them at the end of the
Michael Penix Jr. hurt. Kaleb McGary out all season. Darnell Mooney breaks his collarbone. Third kicker. Multiple close OT losses.
On The Locker Room, the guys break down the growing list of excuses surrounding the Falcons’ season and tackle the uncomfortable question Atlanta fans are asking: are the Falcons really prepared to do the unthinkable and bring Raheem Morris back next season?
What matters most — context or accountability? Is this a legitimate explanation for the record, or just noise being used to justify running it back? The Locker Room dives into what went wrong, what’s fair, and what the future should look like in Atlanta.

Ughhh 😂 fire him !!! And the rest please 🙏 damn .
Wow.
Man,I don't think i can watch Raheem sideline spectate again anymore.😮
You can’t play the injury card when teams like San Francisco are doing what they are. Sorry. How they handled Mooney’s collarbone injury and the failure to reinforce at WR is arguably a fireable offence in itself.
We lost a QB with a history of serious injuries and he was Raheem‘s pick. And Zac‘s playcalling has been all over the place, another Morris appointment. Where’s the accountability?
No coach, or coaching unit, is promised to come in and win us a Super Bowl. Raheem is not the sole reason this team underperformed. There were a number of issues, included injuries, poor WR unit, Penix not being what we thought he would be, bad kickers, Kirk’s fall off last year, etc. Had that not happened, who knows where last year could have went with a more competent QB. Same for this year, Kirk should have started. We “HOPED” that Penix would be great. He isn’t. Raheem will get another year, as he should.
7-10 feels like a fantasy now. 😂
Every team in the NFL is mediocre. The league is built that way. The difference between being good or bad is a couple of players or a couple of coaches. Better coaching would move the Falcons closer to being good.
Nightmare scenario. Raheem and Co comes back, Rich and Terry come back, Kirk Walks, we draft a QB trading up in the 2nd round like they always do, and they pay Pitts a big bag.
How can you watch the mismanagement of all these games as well as all these penalties and decide to bring Raheem back. If anything they are winning games in spite of him and his piss poor game management. He is responsible for 2-3 losses per year on his own.
All of the problems the falcons have are on him and his inability to manage a football team or make the correct decisions. He’s a dumbass.
It’s not about the wins. It’s about the losses. The losses have occurred to bad football teams because of a lack of preparation and a coach not having his team ready to play football
Stop hiring quarterbacks and head coaches based off the color of their skin and you might go somewhere.
😂😂 This is the reasoning why the organization as a whole will not be taken seriously 🤦🏾♂️. The decision making is atrocious from top to bottom
Could be. I really hope they let the entire staff go. Time to wipe the slate.
I swear if we keep Raheem and we suck ass next year I’m done being a falcons fan.
As a Falcons fan for the last 40 years, if Raheem is coming back next year, I will choose a new team.
If I were Kirk Cousins, I'd plsy my ass off and finish strong. Than I'd find me a new team. The following teams need a QB (besides the Falcons). Saints, Jets, Cardinals, Vikings, Colts, Titans, Dolphins, Browns, Chiefs, Raiders abs Giants. And The Bengals if Joe Burrow walks.
Good God if he comes back it will be a catastrophe
So what if they lost there QB they were losing with him in there I bet if they had started Cousins you would have had a better record.
Y’all hate Shannahan but he is 10-4 with even more injuries and adversity.
Most of the Falcons fanbase loves stupid decisions…
They want to keep Terry Fontenot and Raheem Morris…
Most every one blames Rich McKay and Arthur Blank…
But…
Terry Fontenot wanted Kirk Cousins and wanted injury prone Pennix and wanted Raheem Morris…
And Terry Fontenot couldnt get depth at the wide receiver position and Terry Fontenot traded away the draft picks…
And all you will hear is excuses for Terry Fontenot.
Raheem Morris doing the Nick Sirriani mean-mugging for the camera after a wi
n was enough to make me 🤮🤢
Yes, the Falcons could have easily been 10-4. Except for the Head Coach Raheem Morris. This is all on Arthur Blank. Multiple losing seasons. If Morris is not fired, Blank should be tarred, feathered, and run out of town.
If Kirk was giving a chance all year this year we would be in the playoffs
I can't take another year with this coaching staff🤦♂️
Raheem was a loser at Tampa. Why Arthur Blank thinks Raheem was the right coach is beyond me. The Falcons have been mediocre since the Pats embarrassed them in the Super Bowl.
We Cant Really Take Our Franchise Seriously! We Suck And Everything About Us Suck Right Now, 8 Seasons Straight Cuz!
