Any Gulls fans know why Luneau is struggling so much this year after a great season last year?
I’ve been following most of these guys quite extensively because I write about them. For the guys not with the Gulls:
Masse has continued to progress well, not only putting up good numbers but also being physically involved and getting to the dirty areas, something that made him stand out in his draft year and is likely something we’ll want out of him as a bottom-six power forward with a cannon shot.
T. Smith is a beauty, and I am afraid he will just add to our logjam at left defenseman. He’ll get some time with the Gulls first, but if he improves like he’s done since we took him, there is another guy who’s going to be NHL caliber at LHD for us.
Guite’s scoring is back on track. I’m still concerned about effort, physical ability, and playmaking, but he’s back on track after a disastrous draft year, and to our gain, we were able to steal him in the 5th because of it. He has a great shot with accuracy and finds soft spots with ease. The base for a great sniper is already here and ready.
I’ve seen Träff with my own eyes, he plays a very simple north-south game, gets to the net, and hunts any loose pucks. There is a huge gap from the Swedish 2nd division to the NHL, but his tools and simple style have given him a clear identity that we know works in the NHL.
Burnevik’s skating is still not good enough for the NHL. I hate to break it. He has the rest to be able to be a legitimate NHL prospect, but that skating has to continue to improve.
I’d add a mention for Pettersson, who has established himself as a middle-six forward for Brynäs in the SHL. He’s probably coming over in two years when some of our veteran forwards’ contracts run out.
If anyone is curious about anyone on the list, just reply, and I’ll see it and answer.
Smith and Solberg in the pipeline make the Ducks absurdly deep on defense.
Lacombe
Zellweger
Mintyukov
Moore
Luneau
Solberg
Smith
Helleson
They could trade three of those players to get wingers to add to the absurd center depth they have (Carlsson, McQueen, McTavish) and be LOADED for the next 10 years.
Really liking Pettersson and Smith
Tarin the Terror Smith
I wonder when Washe will get a look. He’s having a great season.
