Don’t see them moving except if we are in a lose-win type of trade (dropping assets and pick for the sake of cap).

  1. As upset as everyone is that palat and or Hamilton didn’t want to go to get quinn guess who would be more upset that two teammates didn’t want to make room for their brother . If you didn’t think their wasn’t a rift in the locker room before you can bet there will be one now

  2. Fitz made his bed, now he has to lie in it.

These guys aren’t going to agree to leave just out of the goodness of their hearts.

We may be well and truly screwed here.

  3. Friedman said he thinks the Devils have been vetoed on moves in recent weeks, good chance Palat and Hamilton are part of that. Players have rights hey negotiated for themselves though, can’t blame them.

FWIW it did not sound like either vetoed a move to Vancouver for Quinn. He said the Devils just got outbid on that trade and could not match Minnesota.

  4. In other words, water is wet. We have cap issues. They have modified NTC, but have a handful of teams they can go to.

I would not be surprised if Palat goes to another metro team. He honestly makes a lot of sense for Philly- veteran who’s won. We complain about his contract, but he definitely has been a positive impact in the locker room and the guys respect him. He’s not the player he was, but still not a dud, either. Fitz seems like the type to try and honor his wish to stay in the area, as well, which does open up options. Im sure his list is also as local as it can be because it’s mostly for his family it seems he wants to stay.

  5. I’m not surprised that they didn’t wave for Vancouver. Lots of guys use the NTCs specifically to avoid being traded to Canada. Doesn’t mean they can’t move them (we see guys wave all the time)

  6. We’re well beyond the point of firing Fitzgerald. Every decision of his is demonstrably rotting the team.

  7. Ok who would be interested in this two? Another d man down would be rough depending on what we get back and I can’t imagine palat will be missed in anyway.

  8. This is the organization putting public pressure on these two, especially Dougie, to waive.

    What a shitshow.

  9. lol no one wants these two…who in their right might going for a cup run is going to think “ah yes the missing piece to my puzzle”…ugh

  10. Healthy scratch them then and make them want to leave. If not, buyout next time that window opens

  11. Dougie isn’t getting moved unless a contender suffers a major injury to a top 4 D. He’s not going to agree to a move that doesn’t give him a chance, especially since our team does everything to beat ourselves

  12. Per sources, I’ve been told the sky is blue…

They’re the two biggest contract anchors we have right now (I think Dougie can still positively contribute, but not to the level of his contract. Palat, not so much)

They have NMC they both agreed to (player and club) and this is the result. If there’s any silver lining, maybe Fitz won’t give them out like candy to aging/uncertain vets anymore? Palat, Dillon, and Kovacevic probably didn’t deserve that much protection

  13. Do these players ever feel the pressure to waive their NMC. They’ve gotta be feeling the immense pressure of being anchors for the team. Maybe not Hamilton as much as Palat but you’ve gotta feel like you’re holding an organization back a little bit if you’re getting paid $6m for 20 points, right?

  14. I’m hoping Dougie gets back to form. Not sure wtf happened since his last injury but I hope he can shake it

  15. Fitz masterclass!

How many players in the NHL have a 10 team trade list instead of a 10 team no trade list? I haven’t done an exhaustive list of ALL NHL teams but as far as I have found it is JUST Palat… amazing deal…

  16. It’s a waiting game. Eventually some of these teams will finally fall far enough out to embrace the tank. They’ll need salary on the books to compensate for all the rentals they send away.
