It’s officially trade season in the NBA. Today I answer your questions in a mailbag episode on Anthony Davis’s future building around Cooper Flag and more on today’s Locked on Maths. This is Cooper Flag and you’re listening to Locked on M. I think that’s a good question. You are Locked on M your daily Mavericks podcast of the locked on podcast network your team every day. Thanks for making the Locked On podcast network the number one podcast network out there right now. And today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel. If you want to be right in the middle of the action this season, visit fanuel.com and place your NFL live bets all season long. It’s a new week. It’s Monday. It’s December 15th and that means it’s officially NBA trade season for the NBA. Meaning is some of you might be like the only thing I know is is the trade deadline in the first uh week or so of February. Well, that is correct. That is the end of it. Uh but basically a lot of people around the league, a lot of front offices around the league, media fans uh kind of coined this December 15th as a start of trade season because most of the players that were signed in the off season can now be traded. So the it basically just means the pool of players that are available to be traded or eligible to be traded uh is wide open now for the most part. So, uh, now there’s probably been discussions with teams. There’s been discussions with teams for weeks, uh, leading up to, uh, this date. And typically, it doesn’t mean that trades happen on the actual 15th, that day on that Monday, but you never know. And, uh, so yeah, we’ll we’ll see uh what could unfold this week, but basically everything is uh on the table or possible, I guess, um, until the first week of February for the most part. On the Mavs injury note, real quick before I get into a Q&A I did uh today through our lockdown Mavs insider program in which I’m answering a lot of those questions uh today. Some Mavs news. The Mavs play tonight in Utah against the Utah Jazz and uh got a little injury report. I’m sure some of you seen uh yesterday for the Mavericks heading into this game. They’re at Utah and then bam, somebody popped up on the injury report, Anthony Davis. He is questionable for this game against the Jazz with a left calf contusion. Is that the same calf that he had the calf strain in? Yes, it is. So, uh, not ideal. Let’s just say that. Uh, when did it happen? Have no clue. Um, I’m not going to say here I don’t have the I’m not a doctor drop from Jason Kid like Nick does, but uh, yeah, it’s contusion is different than a strain, right? I mean, you’re looking at a bruising type of thing. Um, yeah, I’m just going to leave that at that. So, not ideal. He’s questionable. Daniel Gaffford is questionable with his right ankle injury. And, uh, besides the normals of Exom, Kyrie, and Derek Lively being out, D’Angelo Russell, DLO is out already ruled out with an illness. So, um, DLO is out right now, too. So, there you go. That’s the end report. I don’t I’m not going to go into any more thoughts about Anthony Davis injury stuff um because I’m gonna answer a lot of questions today on this Q&A. Shout out a a question today through our lockdown ads insider program. It’s like, “Hey, I’m going to do a Q&A.” We try to do one of these Q&A’s once a week uh through that and to where we answer maj majority of the questions we get in and then we text them back out to everybody. Text all the answers out to everybody. And uh today I’m doing that, but also going to answer uh a lot of them on the podcast, too. So, a double whammy. I’m going to uh read some of your names, too. So, thanks for uh being subscribed to our subtext and shout out to everybody who is being who’s already signed up for our everyday program. And uh our Discord is hopping right now. So, uh shout out to the uh the people on the Discord, part of our everyday program. All right, first question. Bingo. Let’s do this. First question comes from Scott. Scott says, “After watching the Spurs and Thunder and how young and dominant they look, what has to happen for the Mavericks to have a shot at competing over Coup’s prime with a lack of draft capital? I’m just scared we are going to be trapped in mediocrity.” Um, man, I shot out a text the other day. I shout out different tweets a few nights ago when I watched the Spurs and Thunder uh play in that game. Um it was technically a Cup game, but honestly it’s it’s two of the best teams in the West. Um you could differ on this, but I don’t honestly don’t think the Cup thing had that much to do with it. I think it’s just two teams that are really dang good. And Wimby obviously dislikes the uh uh the Thunder and I think it’s a Spurs team that’s like, “Hey, I want to show that this uh this OKC team is not inevitable that they’re not Thanos.” And uh Wimby on a minute restriction helped will the Spurs pass that team. It was incredible game. Incredible basketball. I think it was the best game I watched all year. But it also made me realize again the Mavs are just not on that level. And that that’s just a different type of basketball being played right now. different type of roster construction, too. Um, so this question from Scott of what has to happen uh for the Mavericks to have a shot at competing over Coup’s prime. Well, one, I think you got to keep in mind what Coup’s prime is. Coupe is early on. He’s 18. It’s his rookie season. Uh, so you’re not, you know, in a realistic world, you’re not looking at competing for a title in the next, you know, year or so. As far as if you’re just trying to go off Coup’s prime, like, hey, Cooper’s second year in the league. We got to, you know, we got to do the title now. I think you’re looking at Coup’s prime once he get I mean, it’s crazy that in seven years he’ll be 25. Like, seven years, that’s insane. Um or seven years would be like 26 because he’s about to turn 19 not too not too long in the future. Um but you know I I put in here uh when I when I answer this question back um this is why I’m not you know I’m going to answer a lot of questions so I’m not going to go down the whole tank route which which I get it’s fun discourse right there’s people that’s like hey they should tank they should go for the high draft pick. There’s people that say, “Hey, they should go for it.” And locked on tank, here you go. That’s, you know, love love the love the comments for that one. Uh, but this is in part of like why I am so um passionate about that direction for the Mavs this year because I think this is when you’re watching these teams like the Spurs and they have the Castles and Vels and Harpers out there with a Wimi and you’re even looking at OKC and some of those guys or you’re looking at um Detroit or I’m watching that Orlando team that was playing New York and they have you know Paulo and Fran is out right now but they have Suggs and they have Anthony Black and they just have these it’s these teams that are these up and coming teams that we’ve talked about a lot. So, um with these young pieces, these young draft picks next to their cornerstone pieces. And this is why I’m so adamant about like, man, just go for the highest percentage you can for this draft pick in this upcoming draft to pair another piece with Cooper moving forward. And this is why, again, I think it’s so important who this GM hire is. This is why I want uh in a perfect world, even though I’ve been talking about, hey, Jason Kid um could be the next GM for this team. Uh but I’m but I’ve also like that’s why I’m saying don’t be surprised if that happens. Me personally, I want somebody that’s been there, done that, that knows what they’re doing as a GM that could come in here and be like, “All right, I know what what we have to do to try to build around Cooper Flag to where when he is entering his prime, we can be in contender status then.” So, um, Scott in this question is scared of being trapped in mediocrity. Yeah. Like I mean, I think that’s a that’s a valid uh that’s a valid um scare to be uh to be scared of especially this year if you know they don’t which I I still do expect them to fully trade Anthony Davis and probably Clay and DLO. Uh DLO, yes, for sure. I think that he’s getting traded, but um Gaffford’s the one I’m I’m unsure about. still think that they take that route um over the next month, but we’ll see on the timing uh and everything of that. Let’s take a quick break and then uh we’ll we’ll be back and I I want to fly through some of these questions of who could be a realistic GM or head coach candidates. Um yeah, finding next piece next to Cooper, underrated moves, and so much more. This podcast is brought to you by our good friends over at Wayfair. Wayfair. Let’s go home. All righty. Talking to the Dallas Mavs, answering some mailbag questions. First one was about my thoughts coming out of the Spurs and Thunder game the other night. Thanks for everybody for being a part of our uh Everydayer program. Just launched that uh I guess a week ago, two weeks ago. You get ad ad free sent right to your inbox with that. All right, next question. Uh they didn’t put a name with this one, but it says, “If kid becomes the next GM of the Mavericks, what are some realistic head coach candidates?” Um, I mean I this one’s hard to do because you naturally want to take a um you you want to take someone like Jason Kid and be like, “All right, well, who’s the who’s the guys that’s connected to him or could be under his coaching tree?” Well, some of the guys that were like coming up and uh could be like next in line, they went to like another team, right? Like he never gave he never signed or never brought in JJ Berea. He went to he’s on Denver staff now. uh you had a guy like Jared Dudley, but then Jared Dudley goes to Denver also. Uh he brings in some new guys over this past off season. Uh some of his guys in the past, I would say they’re a little little bit older. They’re not they’re not the like upand cominging young coaches at that point with the exception of one. I mean, Sean Sweeney is the natural one you can look at. uh he has yet to be a head coach in the league and you know he he’s been on the staff with kid in multiple stops then heads to San Antonio this past year to be the head assistant down there. He would be the natural one that Kid would probably bring back um to be the head coach of the Mavs and uh lead that lead that charge and he has that relationship with Kid and everything. I mean Frank Vogle is another name too. Do they just like Yeah. Does does Vogle want to be head coach again? Um I I don’t know. Yeah, I don’t I don’t know what Vogle’s like future is, what he wants and all that. He’s obviously been a head coach in the league for a long time, but I wouldn’t count on either. I know Sweenie is like the the the popular thing in this scenario or to to think about, but I wouldn’t count on a scenario of like them going outside the box to try to get some upand cominging young guy either. Uh somebody that kid has a relationship with that we just don’t know about. um some like older, you know, some past assistant or uh somebody that’s just still in the league that he’s been high on or they go down to like the college ranks. I mean, I made a joke about it in the past, but they go to Duke and say, “Hey, John Ch, we know you’re super young, but you also have this relationship with Cooper. Uh come be like our Brad Stevens. Like, we’re going to take this random chance on you.” Like, bring I don’t know. Like, I I I just wouldn’t rule anything outside the box with that. Next question comes from Josh King. If we aren’t going to tank, what’s a legitimate path for the Mavs to get a Cooper, a young co-star like Castle is for Wimby? And who might that be? That’s from Josh King. Uh, that’s good. I mean, that’s a great question, right? Like, I mean, I got multiple questions today. I was like, man, I don’t think we’re going to be bad enough to tank, but I don’t think we’re going to be good enough uh to get, you know, to be a playoff team. So, like, what what what are we like what’s the path? Like, is all you all hope lost? No, all hope’s not lost. like if they do uh I don’t think it’s the best roster building scenario. I’ve made that obvious. But if they do ride that middle line, then how do you find that next co-star next to Cooper? Um I said, man, you got to be really good at drafting in the middle of the first round, right? Or even in the 20s. Uh because uh reminder, when people say they don’t have any draft picks over the next four or five years, that’s not technically true. They don’t have control over their draft picks. Now, there are a couple years in there they just don’t have a pick at all. But then there’s a couple years in which they they have picked swaps, right? It’s just unfortunate that um the next the next one for them, the next pick swap for them in two years is with OKC. So, it’s probably going to be near the end of the first round, if not the last pick in the first round. And then in two years after that, you’re looking at I think it’s like San Antonio or Houston, which will probably be in the 20s. So, you know, it you got to you got to have a department in there that can really you got to really strike on these on these picks. Um because over the next four years, you’re probably going to have two first round picks and they’re probably going to be in the late 20s at that point. So, you got to be able to try to hit those and then whatever draft pick you have in this upcoming draft, which is, you know, could be anywhere from if you really go south, I think they could end up in the five through seven range as far as odds. Um, if you ride the uh middle path, then you’re looking at anywhere from a 13 to 16, right? Like, and you gotta uh be confident in who that draft pick is because that’s probably going to be the highest pick you have in a very long time. Um, and then I also put this in there, too. It just, you know, it makes it a little bit harder when you’re trying to target these guys on the Cooper air quote here timeline. Um I you got to look at other teams of what are some who are some players um like a Jaden Ivy. Let’s just say Jaden Ivy for instance. Who are some players that had some injuries early on in their career? They had they had the talent maybe a higher draft pick um they had um but then like because of injuries um and yeah it’s like the team is like man I they don’t know about the extension and then eventually they’re kind of like like a Jaden Ivy’s coming off the bench. He didn’t get the extension, but he’s still what 22 23. So like what is his future in like Detroit and that’s somebody that they could trade Ivy somewhere and then some team gives him, you know, puts the ball back in his hands and it’s like bam, oh, Ivy’s like popping off and it’s like, well, he just had those injuries and then Cade happened and everything in Detroit. Um, so yeah, I I think that’s the thing. Um you you trade for somebody that maybe needs like a change of scenery type of guy that you know you’re looking at you know some players around the league and it’s like man it’s just for some reason it’s just not working out in that scenario and they’re looking for a change. It’s kind of like a reshuffleling the deck and when you reshuffle the deck every once in a while you get that ace in your hand uh or that king and you’re like a bingo it works out here. So um another question this one comes in from Logan. Logan says, “What’s more impressive with Cooper Flag’s game so far this season?” Love this question. His playmaking or his ball handling? And besides the three-point shot, what areas would you like to see Coupe improve in this year? Well, if we’re talking about the just between the two options you gave me, um, Logan, you said playmaking or ball handling, I would say his uh his his Now I’m thinking about it. I would say his playmaking. Let me say his his playmaking. I think his playmaking is the thing out of those two things that’s impressed me the most. Um just because you’ve seen we’ve seen him in the past whether it’s a Duke or MV play with some other point guards and stuff and then um they ran a lot of pick and roll and stuff at Duke. They put the ball in his hands and made him make decisions. Uh but he’s such a good passer now that we’re watching every minute of every game of Cooper Flag in our life. We’re seeing just how good of a passer he is. We’re seeing just how good of a playmaker he is. and uh on defense too, being a defensive playmaker at the same time, if that makes sense. Um, but I mean, I’ve been very vocal that the most impressive thing about Cooper overall for me is his decision-m, what he’s been doing, uh, decision-m at 18 in the NBA has just been mindboggling for me. It just doesn’t make sense. Um, shouldn’t Yeah, shouldn’t be uh possible for an 18-year-old. Uh, for the next step, for what he improves on, it’s gonna be a shot, right? Like I I expect him to go into this summer. He’s probably going to say it in exit interviews. He’s going to say it in training camp next year that he put up like 2 million shots over the summer. Um I think he’s going to work on some of the technique of his shot. Um yeah, I just I think that’s the area that uh they could refine and just tinker with over the off season. Uh a consist more consistent shot. But we’re talking about Cooper Flag. Like he’s awesome. So I think that’s the area and and obviously ball handling too. like he’s been um he’s been fine ball handling, but I think using this off season uh some of the ball handling stuff I I think that will uh that will be something we’ll be more even more impressed with over the next two years. Um all right, let’s take another quick break and then we’ll come back and I got some other good questions including a fun one of what was some of my worst takes and best takes uh since I’ve been covering the Mavs. So, uh, can’t wait to talk about Javevel McGee. This podcast brought to you by our friends over at Rouiiet. Riit. Yes, let’s be real. Making excuses doesn’t solve anything. We’ve all heard them before. It’s just stress. I’m tired. Start making moves. Shut it down. Let’s go home. All right, let’s keep on going through this mailbag. Let’s do this thing. Um, this question comes from no no name on this one. So, here we go. real life problem that Nico has caused in my household. Four-year-old and seven-year-old want Mavs jerseys and they love Coupe, but they are true Dallas fans and love a good role player. Man, there’s just something about having a good role player jersey. I love that. Four-year-old wants Gaffford. Seven-year-old wants PJ. Uh he this guy says he knows PJ is safe this year because of his new deal. Who besides Coupe is safe? Hate this for my team, but no, we need to get better. Uh it’s more about we just don’t know what this front office is thinking because we don’t know. I mean we know who this like committee is right now making choice and decisions but we don’t know who the next GM is. So we don’t really know. Um I’m pretty confident on the timeline that I think that they’ll go down over the next 3 to four weeks of making some some big trades to take a kind of a slower timeline. But I yeah um so it’s like who’s safe. Yes. This year PJ is the safest. Uh and then you know I’d say Kyrie and that. But moving forward, um, is it sad that I’m going to say Ryan Nimhard that I think like a number nine Ryan Nimhard jersey is probably the safest one that you could get for the next like year or so. Uh, I mean, I want to say like Max, uh, but outside of that or like I mean, well, he wants a role player, so it’s not Kyrie, but I would say Nimhard’s like my my answer with that. Everybody else like besides Max, but like you can’t Would you say her and tell me like, “Hey, would you guarantee Max he’s on this team next?” next like fall. I hope he is, but I I don’t know. I don’t I don’t know. I don’t know what these next moves are going to be. So, um yeah, Ryan Nard, there you go. This question from Clayton, this is a good one. Looking back with hindsight on your years covering the Mavs, what’s wound up being some of your worst takes and your best over the years? So, this is my 10th year covering the Mavericks. Um so, yeah, it’s been it’s been a lot of fun. a lot of random teams. Uh got to cover those last few years of Durk’s career and uh my favorite year covering the Mavs was Luca’s rookie year with Dirks last year. Um was just so many memories in that. So many good stuff. Um all right, let’s do the worst ones first. So I was pro Javevel signing. I mean that was I mean a lot of these is going to bring back like memories if you’ve been listening to pod for a while. So um I thought the Javevel signing was going I thought it was a good signing. I thought he was a good like stop, gap, center type of dude. Um, yeah, I just thought it was going to work and it didn’t. And after like five games, we knew it wasn’t going to work and I was like, crap, this sucks. U, so yeah, that that was fine. Um, I I wanted to pay Nerland. There you go. Said it out loud. Um, I was fine with them paying Nerland back in the day. That obviously was okay. Uh, them not. So, uh, yeah, that’s that. I was really high on Maxi Cleba’s ceiling once he got on the team and he started he started having those like many moments. I mean I was like really going out there of like man like how many of these like stretch fours would would I really want to like he is everything for his defense his interior defense too but how he can switch protect the rim hit the and it just you know he had injuries and uh it just didn’t hit the ceiling that I thought it was going to. So, love Maxi. Um, I wasn’t the I wasn’t the happiest or highest on Jaylen Brunson pick in the draft. I loved watching him in college of Villainova, but I thought he was going to be more of a um I’m going say this name, but it’s not like a direct tie. So, y’all get what I’m saying. It’s not I thought he was going to be more like a Tyler Hanssboro type of like great in college, okay in the NBA, and I was so wrong in that. I mean it just so I mean it took his rookie year and I started hearing stuff within the team of like dude he’s better than Dennis and I was like dang really like that quick like y and yeah that was that was a no-brainer and he’s killing New York and I love that. I never thought he would be at this level. Um so yeah I’ll I’ll eat my curl and all this stuff. I don’t care. And obviously I was high on there still hope I guess in the world. Uh, but I I love Omax and also my dog is like right here next to me and you could probably hear her paws on the on the ground. So, sorry about that if if you are. Um, what are some of my best takes over the years? I mean, I was uh I was Yeah, Luca was the best player in the 2018 draft, like heading into that draft, heading into draft night, uh, that week and stuff. Uh, Nick and myself both where we were pretty confident that Luca was the best player in that draft. Um, I did really like Baggley and Mo Bomba in that draft in a weird way. Um, but um, not as much as Lucas. So, I I feel good. I always felt good going into that 2018 draft of like, hey, Luca’s best player. Do anything you can if you if you possibly could. Um, if you’ve been listening this podcast for a while, then you know how high I was on Donovan Mitchell. And, uh, yeah, I was pretty high on the Donovan Mitchell draft draft call of like what he would be. in the NBA. Um, yeah, I just really liked him at Louisville. Uh, I was really high on the Denwitty and KP trade when it happened. So, uh, you know, I seen some people were like throwing a fit of like, oh my gosh, I can’t believe they just traded Porzingis for Denwitty and Bertton and Washington. I was like, “No, this is this is great. I love this. They need a third ball handler with Brunson and and Luca.” So, uh, I was uh kind of Jon Snow uh yeah, pulling out the sword for that one. And uh I feel I feel good about that one. And um I was out on Josh Green and Jay Hardy early. So uh I feel good about the Christian Wood one too. Like I was so dude the Christian Wood one got wild because there were a portion of Mass fans I wanted to like super max this guy. And I was so out on Christian Wood and I’m I I get some stuff right now for the tanking thing, but during the Christian Wood thing and being all out on Christian Wood, I got some wild DMs. Um, yeah, you know, some wild stuff sent to me for being out on Christian Wood and not all from his agent either, although some of it was. Um, next question. This is from Wendy and Greg. I have been a firm believer that we need to trade AD ASAP for all the reasons that we’ve been widely discussed. Availability, cap space, fit, but my belief got rattled after watching the strong positive chemistry between him and Cooper during the next game. Wendy and Greg says, “Now I’m worried that trading AD might negative negatively impact Cooper. What do you think?” Um, that’s a good question, Wendy and Greg. Um, mainly because it was f it’s fun watching those two together, right? I just couldn’t help to dream of like, man, go back to like pre-injjury stuff AD, um, peak AD. Imagine that with Cooper Flag. It would just be so much fun. Uh, it’s just that’s just not where AD is at right now. And I get where you’re coming from. I do. But I also want to say I don’t think um I don’t think this stretch with playing uh playing with AD for how many ever games that is uh let’s just say 20 to 30 games. I don’t think a stretch of playing 20 to 30 games with Anthony Davis will set the course for Cooper’s career. So, that’s my only thing of like a zoom out perspective of of that, positive or negative. So, um yeah, that’s what I’ll say with that one. And then last one, this was a good this was a good question because we really haven’t taken this route when talking about trade possibilities. And it’s this person said, well, it says Mont Montana Mavs fan. Let’s go, man. Montana. That’s one of the few states. I’ve been to 38 states in my life. Clap. I know all of you care. No, you don’t. But Montana is not one of those and I’ve always wanted to go to Montana. Montana man says, “Saw a trade proposal where Philly would send VJ Edge come to Dallas along with Paul George for Anthony Davis.” Don’t think that’s happening, guys. I’m sorry. Don’t think we’re there’s any world we’re getting VJ. Uh that seems unlikely. That That’s correct. Montana Mavs fan. Uh, but it got me thinking about moving ad how teams might want to require some outgoing bad contract along with value. Would you do that sort of thing if you’re the Mavs from Montana Mavs fan? I haven’t really considered it that too much and I I don’t I’m I don’t mean this in like a mean way, but I would say when you talk to people around the league or even when we talk to other media people at Mavs games, whatever, like I would say Anthony Davis’s contract is um it’s not the worst at all, but I would say it’s probably in the top like 15 of like tougher contracts. Um so it’s like when you start looking at other bigger contracts that you’re like, “Oh man, that would like suck.” Like because I’m I’m thinking about like long-term contracts like a Joel Embiid, man. I don’t know what it would take to what to attach to Joel Embiid to swap him for Anthony Davis. Like that is a bad bad contract. 80s isn’t a bad bad contract. It’s not that. So Paul George, you know what? What would you have to They’re not attaching VJ, but it’s like first round pick, second round or you know, second pick with Paul George for AD and MB. That would be a funny pairing. But um Zack Lavine, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler. I just don’t think those teams are attaching something of value. Uh maybe the Kings, like maybe the Kings would say, “Hey, we’ll attach some value to Zack Lavine to get Anthony Davis.” Pro. I mean, they’ll probably do that. Yeah. Um Kawhai, I don’t think the Clippers are attaching anything to Kawhai. And the same thing with Golden, even though like Golden State, they just lost to Portland. um the Jimmy like AD type of swap. They have exact same salary. So, it’s like what would they really have to attach something to would like to get Anthony Davis and Jimmy? So, I don’t know. That stuff gets uh stuff gets weird, but it did get my mind thinking. So, shout out to Montana Mavs fan with that. And there’s so many other questions. Stop talking about trades dumass. Do you and your counter part talk Mavs are not trading till they see what Ky and AD look like
AD trade in the off-season if it happens. A 3 for 1 or 4 for 1 is not possible.
If you trade AD you are not winning period for 5 years
Nobody cares what you want
They're just being held out because of a trade thats in the works. AD, Dlo, Gaff, all in the trade talks.
Truly I’m fine with keeping AD if he was making like 30 million a year but 55 is a no go he has to go
What if we tank and the pick is a bust? What then? Tanking is an emotional reaction without a fully thought out plan.
Really scary to me that Jason is even being considered for this GM job and knowing he wasn't in BIG Disagreement with Nico in allowing such a Great talent like Luka Mann I want a Presley type of GM we gotta stop being blind Mavs fans
FYI, The same Nets that were on fire against the Mavs (and still got beat), just put a 45 point beatdown against the Bucks. MPJ didn't even go off.
People underestimate the value of high end veterans showing Cooper the way. AD is a top 50 player that has won college, NBA, Olympic, World Cup, and Emirates Cup TITLES. He also still holds the most points in the All-Star game. Also you are more likely to get Andrew Wiggins in this draft than Wymbe, Luka, or Cooper. Finally, AD just take the pay cut so they can stop talking about trading you.
Rondo should be considered for HC or assistant if Kidd moves up
AD is out tonight and we have dumb ass fan bitching about trading him?!?!?
Are you guys even fans? You guys realize if we pay these old cripples we are going to end up wasting Flagg’s prime and he will leave 😒
Issac is right. What's the ceiling of this current team? Do we want $70M tied up when we're trying to build around Coop? It's totally worth to take one step back for 4 steps forward.
The best teams in the league are young
Trade AD and Lively, we need players that are able to stay on the court.
In 7 years Coop will be a laker
Can we trade Issac for Slightly more full time role?
My main question is about Nembhart. Is he really as good as he’s been looking or is this just a miniature insanity moment. Can we consistently win games, and if so is that good or bad for the team in the long term
Ive been paying attention to more potential draft prospects. It really does look really good. Lottery picks in particular. If mavs get in top 10, i feel confident we will find a guy to match up well with Coop for the future
Cooper and his family was excited to be on a team to compete for a chip. Winning (with proven superstars) sooner rather than later may be more important to Coop and the family. Mavs can easily make it to the 5-6 playoff seed this season with Kai, AD and Coop.
The Mavs get lucky and unlucky when it comes to high draft picks. We get Luka and he makes the team better instantly and it takes forever to build a good team around him. We get cooper due to horrible roster management and now we’re not bad enough to get a good draft spot more than likely.
Rumor rumors and let me guess more Rumors! Peace people. Go Mavs!
AD has been getting hated for years.
If Kidd moves to gm, bring Jason Terry in as head coach. He has coaching experience, former Mav legend, and a mf dawg!! 💯
Is there a scenario where we dont trade AD, and we still get to draft high next year?
