I can’t believe we’re considering Winker hated. We always loved that crazy bastard.
Max Scherzer
Aaron Heilman
Poor winky
Diaz.
I honestly don’t remember much of Diaz before the trumpets and all in ’22, but I’d certainly agree that he’s a divisive name these days
Javi Baez
Cano started more hated than Diaz. He was the highly overpaid former Yankee that we traded our best prospect for. Diaz was the part of the trade everyone actually liked. Cano could still hit and had some moments but remained divisive because of his salary and PEDs.
Jeff Francoeur?
Kris Benson
Daniel Vogelbach.
This one is hard.
The answer is clearly Edwin Diaz. Not even a debate imo.
Everyone wanted him dead in 2019 and now some people blame him for leaving while others blame the Mets.
Oliver Perez
Thinking through this…
Vince Coleman is obviously hated/hated champion.
Kenny Rogers has an argument. Never well liked but pitched us into the playoffs before you know which left him in the divisive category.
Bonilla v1 fit this to a tee came in was hated but turned it around enough that he was divisive when he left. But then he came back sigh.
Baerga is another interesting one. Was hated when we got him but played ok enough in 97 to get to divisive.
Benson is a good one
Frenchy as well since he played decently with us and thought he’d suck
Jason Vargas? Roberto Alomar?
Edit: We were all pumped to get Diaz, we were not pumped to get Canos contract and losing Kelenic, I don’t think that counts as coming in “hated” even if his first year wasn’t great.
Stroman is so funny because it was literally just him getting amped up on Twitter while fans watched confused as to what he was so mad about.
