Cobee Bryant Starting?! + Should Atlanta Consider Trading For Joe Burrow? | Falcons News & Rumors
[Music] All right, let’s talk about it, Falcons fans. After one major injury to a starting Falcons corner, could we be seeing Kobe Bryant getting his very first start as an Atlanta Falcon? Welcome in Falcons fans to Falcons today by Jad Sports. My name is Moose. We’re going to talk about Kobe Bryant starting, what it could mean potentially for him and his career moving forward with the Dirty Birds. And then the back half of this episode, we’re going to talk a little bit about Joe Burrow because I saw at least four comments in the last video asking Moose, is there any way that we could get Joe Burrow to the Falcons? It is a complete long shot. Probably won’t happen. Most likely won’t happen, but we’ll talk about it regardless. Before we get on started with the news and rumors of today, help us out. Send this video to a friend. There’s that little share icon down at the very bottom of your video. Send this video to a friend who has never seen a Falcons episode from us. And uh that’s how we catch up to now. By the way, more viewers, more subscribers, we catch up to that channel. Do me a favor, hit that little share icon today. Let’s start with the news. Raheem Morris took to the press conference today. I thought most of it, believe it or not, was actually fairly insightful. And he actually sounded like, “Hey, we’ve got some legitimate updates to talk about. We’re looking forward to next week.” It was a pretty decent press conference. First time for everything. But the one piece of information that I thought was the most beneficial to take away from was that Mike Hughes is going to miss this coming week against the Arizona Cardinals. Well, why is that significant? because that means Kobe Bryant most likely steps in as the starting outside corner. He did fill in for uh Mike Hughes when Mike Hughes left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game with that injury. So Kobe comes in and now we get to see what he’s made of as a starter. I think it should be at least pointed out here that it is very difficult to go on the road in your very first game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Mike Evans coming back and uh try to perform against the future Hall of Famer. I’m not even going to pretend to say it was a good game for Kobe. His coverage grade was not good at all. 28.7. He let up 134 yards. It was a bad game. But reminder, he is a rookie undrafted free agent going up against one of the greatest wide receiver talents the game has ever seen. And yes, I do believe that of Mike Evans. He will go down as a top 25 wide receiver in this league. How many years has he had over a thousand yards receiving? He broke some kind of record or at least damn near close to it. So, I’m not even going to sit here and act like that Kobe Bryant was the worst thing we’ve ever seen because anybody in that situation has a mountain to climb. It is so hard to ask him to be perfect against the likes of Mike Evans. But I will say this, there was one moment in that game where I was like, “Oo, Kobe’s fearless.” Fearless against even the top talent. He had this hit on Mike Evans. Do you remember that? where he kind of swept underneath uh Evans’s legs. It was a horrible ball from Baker Mayfield. It’s the type that is called a hospital ball. It’ll get your players sent to the hospital. So, Baker has got to be smarter. But Kobe absolutely lowered the boom on it. Shared it a little bit on his Instagram story as well, which I was like, “Hey, man, go off King.” Like, great play. You did your best. Awesome. Here’s the ultimate takeaway from this. You got to give Kobe a shot. There’s no fear in his game whatsoever. And as a team that is out of the playoff contention now, what do you have to lose? Mike Hughes is no longer available. He’s old anyway, so you might want to just get him out of there. There is a world, by the way, where you see AJ Terrell, Kobe Bryant, and Billy Bowman as your starting corners next year if Kobe can show what he’s got. Now, I still think the Falcons need to draft a quarterback, even if Kobe balls out. Reason I say that is because competition sharpens iron. You know what’s that old phrase? Iron sharpens iron. I do think that bringing in competition for Kobe would help him elevate his game. So there’s nothing wrong with drafting a quarterback still. Even if you see great positive things out of Kobe Bryant. Remember undrafted free agent out of Kansas. The guy has nothing to lose. Everything is going up up up and up. I love the size. I love the speed. I did think that there were some really nice uh closeouts from Kobe Bryant as well, meaning when there was a catch, he was very quick to swarm the ball. There’s a lot of things that I liked. Obviously, the coverage not nearly what you wanted to see. He was not sticky whatsoever. But your starting quarterbacks are going to look like this as follows for the Arizona Cardinals game. AJ Terrell, D. Alfred and Kobe going up uh against the likes of the Arizona Cardinals wide receivers, which are also very decimated right now. So, I do think it is an important game, not only for AJ Terrell to bounce back, but for Kobe Bryant to really show, hey, I can compete in this league. And it’s not like the quarterback talent in Arizona is good at all. Jacobe Brassette has been actually fairly decent, but believe it or not, he’s a bridge. Sorry to burst your bubble. He’s not a starting caliber quarterback. He is a bridge quarterback. Somebody that kind of, you know, bridges that gap between the veteran quarterback to the next rookie that is coming. So, even though the numbers look pretty good, the Cardinals continue to lose football games. They’re not very good. Their defense isn’t very good. The Falcons actually have a pretty good chance to win this football game. and they’re favored for the first time and I don’t know how long. But either way, actually, they were favored against the Jets, but either way, I digress. If you’re excited to see Kobe Bryant play, let me know in the comments section down below. Type Y for yes, type N for no. I’m very excited to see what he’s got. First start, it’s obviously one of those big momentum feels for a player. It’s a game that he’ll never forget because it is his first start. So, let me know in the comments section down below. Okay, we got to bring it up. I know. Why are we talking about something that has like a 1% chance of happening? Well, I am a man of the people, by the way. So, I do get down. I do read the comments and I do make videos based off of your suggestions and I will bring up that it’s not just me that’s thinking this type of stuff. The fans also want to see these types of rumors. So, before we get into any Joe Burrow rumors, got to tell you about our friends over at Prize Picks. Holiday season is here. Okay. So, I do want to say that even though this is tough to read, I’ll I’ll verbalize this for you. I’ll orate for you if you will. Moose, can you do an episode on the whole Joe Burrow uh situation with the Bengals and how the Falcons or what the Falcons chances are of acquiring him. Okay, I think this is probably the only time I’m going to do this, but I’m telling you right now, I don’t see it happening. Um, in fact, I think it’s kind of a waste of time to kind of discuss this considering you would have to give up the farm and more to get a player of Joe Burrow’s caliber. And I don’t think that you have anything to offer the Cincinnati Bengals. I mean, maybe in the future for draft capital, you do, but not this year. Not this year whatsoever. But let’s at least, you know, explore why this is a thing because you can’t just bring something out of left field. Here’s what happened. That when Gerald uh excuse me, when Joe Burrow went to the press conference, I believe it was before the Ravens game right after the Bills game, that’s when it was. And they asked him about what the problems were. And Joe took this very kind of melancholy approach. He said, “If I want to keep doing this, meaning playing quarterback at the NFL level, I have to have fun doing it. I’ve been through a lot. If it’s not fun, then what am I doing it for? There’s just a lot of things going on right now. Certainly not easy on the brain or on the body. So, just trying to have fun doing things again. Well, I do want to also at least mention that Adam Shfter tweeted this out. And when Sheffy tweets something out, you listen because it’s usually true. Joe Burrow’s comments Wednesday got the attention of people across the league. When he says people, he means general managers. He means owners. He means scouts. He means coaches. He means all the guys that are in charge of making decisions on making potential offers for a quarterback of Joe Burrow status. And let’s be completely honest, why is Joe Burrow so unhappy? His offensive line is booty cheeks and not the good kind. These are bad booty cheeks. Their pass pro win rate since 2020 has never gotten better than 27th in the NFL. That is beyond terrible. They’re going to get this man killed. What should have been a 15 or 16-year career might only be eight or nine years. Just ask Andrew Luck how that went. So, the problem though for the Falcons here, because why does it relate to the Dirty Birds? You’d have to give up so much damn draft capital to get Joe Burrow. It would cost at minimum two first round picks. Well, you don’t have a first round pick in 2026. You got James Pierce Jr. I love James Pierce Jr. I’m glad we have him. I’m glad we traded back up. Oop, excuse me. Lunch is coming back up. But I did come up with what I believe is a fair hypothetical what would it cost list. This is what Moose believes it would cost to get Joe Burrow. You’d have to give up a player that is at least respectable. So you could give up Arnold Evati, right? Respectable edge, someone who’s around five to seven, you know, sacks a year. And also the Bengals defense is terrible. You’d have to give up a 2027 first, a 2028 first, a 2027 second, and a 2028 fourthround pick. Here’s where it does not make sense for the Falcons. You don’t have a 2026. Are you okay with giving up a 2027 and a 2028 first round pick? Three years of first round picks to essentially say get Joe Burrow. And I get it. Joe’s worth all of that and a bag of chips. He’s one of the best talents in the NFL. I do believe he’s one of the best quarterback talents we’ve seen in the last seven years. However, I don’t know that I’m willing to part with this much draft capital. I really don’t. And I don’t know that I’m willing to hinder my future on a quarterback that has already shown signs of having injury problems. So, as much as Joe Burrow can get me to the promised land, you have to also bake in that’s another player that’s dealt with season ending injuries or missed a significant amount of time. So, I don’t think I’d make this trade. I wouldn’t. I would not. In fact, I like I told you, I am going to stick with my plan of you release Kirk Cousins, get that $35 million back onto the books, sign a veteran that is a vet minimum deal or very close to it, maybe somewhere around $10 million for one year. Draft a quarterback. Draft a quarterback because then you have three players at the quarterback position, an NFL vet, Michael Pennix Jr., and a rookie. And then it’s all competition from there. Then it’s may the best man win. And if it’s Michael Pennix Jr., great. And if it’s not Michael Pennix Jr., if it’s the veteran or if it’s the rookie, also fine. But I do know this. You have to make a decision about the quarterback position without giving up the world to go get one. So, no, I’m not making this trade. Either way, let me know in the comments section down below. That’s going to do it for us on this episode. But a reminder to hit that subscribe button, like today’s video if you haven’t done so already. And as always, Dirty Birds fans, rise up and be cool. Thanks moose I don’t think Terry will give that much up for Burrow I say let it ride with Penix or a rookie QB
12:35 M=maybe
He will go to the Viking way before the falcons unfortunately but I wish
Burrow is definitely the next Luck
Y
If we some how got burrow, that man would die on the field in Atlanta 😂
they need all the coaches gone gm rich mcay gone these so called coaches have wasted pretty good talent they could'nt coach a high school football team i would try and get Stetson Bennett from the rams
Cobee got his hand in between Evans on that deep ball too, unlucky that Evans caught it, 9/10 times that's a PBU
HELL NO HE GOT FRIED
Alot of times when you have a playmaking DB he will let some stuff go by but will get a pick or 2. Reminds me of marlon Humphries when he was coming out. Most people that i know that watch college football were shocked Bryant went undrafted. There are plenty of drafted CBs that mike evans has burned though so honestly the more hes on the field the better for Cobee
Falcons favored against the Cards? F… Falcons are like 1-7 when favored this year
No to Joe Burrow, yes to Cobee Bryant
Kobe works out there's no need to draft a corner. Because that means we'll have the offer that are fourth quarter we will be deep at that position. So if he works out corner is not a real need. We still have CJ Henderson he could be the fifth. If we ever decide to put a fifth on the field
Yep
trade for burrow hell nah
Yes
I love the way Joe Cool plays the game. But he's too expensive for the Falcons, and he's injury prone. Besides, the Bengals aren't going to trade him.
We need to trade for Joe Burrow and franchise Kyle Pitts in 2026. If Michael Penix Jr is the starter in 2026, then there is no point of watching the Falcons in 2026. Michael Penix Jr will still be a rookie QB for three years in a row because he has only 12 starts and the Falcons traded away their first round pick. It’s too early to say if James Pearce Jr was worth forfeiting our 2026 pick. He has 8 sacks but we still ain’t winning. The Cleveland Browns have the best pass rusher in the NFL and what has that done for them??? If you can recall the Falcons had a guy named Vic Beasley who led the NFL in sacks
It’s clear that was due to Dwight Freeney getting attention. Is James Pearce Jr getting sacks because of Leonard Floyd??? if you look at James Pearce Jr sacks, 5-6 came because the QB was scrambling. It’s not because he beat them with his pass rusher abilities. I only have seen 2-3 pure sacks where he beat his guy
If we had anything to trade for Burrow we'd have to fix this OL or they're going to get him killed like Panics.
Imagine what Burrow could do to this division and he's used to playing behind trash OLs.
I was just about to ask you about burrow and what you thought
Let's not forget. While Evans had a good game Ebuka got shutdown.
Cobe could only get better
Cobee Bryant was trash against the Bucs! Their game plan was literally "throw the ball to whoever cobee was guarding" I hate that everyone just talks about him because of his name! He showed me NOTHING in that game that makes me think he will be a great starter ever!
Y been waiting for them to play cobee
How about 3 firsts and Michael Penix and this year’s second for Burrow?
We’ll be serious Super Bowl contenders
Yeah if we can go out and get Joe Cool then I'm keen on that. I don't care about the cost because you can't win without a QB
