Mahomes ALREADY had successful surgery to repair his ACL!

So, in a surprising update, Patrick Mahomes has already had surgery to repair his ACL. So, after Patrick Mahomes tore his ACL late in that game against the Chargers, the questions from there were, what’s next? What’s his recovery timeline going to be? And then, how long does he need to wait to have surgery? Well, Andy Reid informed the media this morning that he was going to Texas for a second opinion. That’s all we really knew. That’s pretty common to get a second opinion. And he was going to see Dr. Dan Cooper. He’s the head team physician for the Cowboys and a leading expert in complex knee and shoulder injuries. He’s a very well-rusted surgeon that a lot of NFL players go to like Teddy Bridgewwater, Jaylen Smith, Rashi Rice last year, and even Malik Neighbors. Well, we found out tonight 8:29 p.m. from the Chiefs Twitter account themselves that he already had successful surgery in Dallas this evening with Dr. Dan Cooper to repair the tear in his left ACL. and Mahomes will begin his rehab process immediately. Well, the fact that they didn’t have to wait for the swelling to go down, like some more complex knee injuries, and that’s what we thought could happen in Mahomes’ case. The fact that it was just simply no more damage, a full tear to the ACL, and it was good enough to operate on immediately. That’s great news. And it sets him ahead in his rehab timeline, 2 weeks, because you’re going off the initial thought of, oh man, if he has to wait till about January 1st, nine months from then is right around the start of the 2026 NFL season. Well, every week matters for rehab. So, he’s got a twoe head start to what some thought and everything went well and successful. Patrick Mahomes successfully underwent surgery. So, the near future here will be key to make sure that all went well and then the rehab process starts and Mahomes is going to aim to attack that rehab and get back out there as soon as humanly possible. Andy Reid already said he’s got a a great team around him and how Patrick Mahomes attacks everything in life from football from all the success on and off the field. He’s going to attack his rehab just like that. So great news for Patrick Mahomes in this surgery. I just wish and pray for a speedy recovery and a full recovery.

  1. Update: initial report was just ACL but Ian Rapoport recently shared they also had to repair his LCL. That can complicate things a bit but “it doesn’t extend his rehab longer than 9 months or so.”

  4. It was bound to happen eventually unfortunately this guy was single handedly carrying the offence with year after year having very limited receivers other than Kelce but hopefully next year the chiefs do better and really look to get receivers and hope Patrick gets better

  20. Yeahhhh, idkkk how i feel about that tho..
    I mean, im not a fan of Mahomes, but im not a hater, either!!
    We all know he wants to get back out there as soon as possible, but i just don't know how i feel about him rushing everything like that with a severe injury like that..
    If i was the Chiefs or a Cheifs fan, id be worried he's gunna rush through everything and end up coming back before he should and end up re-injuring it and end up having to start everything all over again and end up missing another significant amount of time if not another entire season..
