This is EXACTLY what the MLB was afraid of…

This is exactly what the MLB was afraid of as we have a major free agency update to go over today as it pertains to the Toronto Blue Jays pursuit of Bo Bashette and Kyle Tucker. We break down these new reports and discuss what it means going forward. But we also have the Jays making multiple moves. A ton to go over on this episode, ladies and gentlemen. But before we get into it all, quick reminder to hit that subscribe button. You guys have an absolute beast with the support folks. Ton to go over today. Now things are of course slowly progressing. and Kyle Tucker and Bobett are both still available. But some things have happened late last night that obviously are very every move right now is very impactful for the Jays. Whether that be of course in the form of, you know, moves they're making or moves other teams are making. You'd see this right here and stay tuned till the end. We have some interesting notes on their new Tyler Rogers signing. But Hiang Kim has signed with the Braves at 20 million. And you might think initially, okay, what does that actually mean? Like why does that really matter? It essentially takes them out on Bo Bashette. And reports over the past week have been that the Braves were one of, if not the most, I guess, likely suitor to land Bo Bashette alongside a couple other teams if the Jays don't. So, this is very encouraging. You see here, Braves are maybe the only other team I could see offering Bo a long-term shortstop gig with a chance to contend. You have Johnny saying, "It seems as if the Toronto Blue Jays are going to have Boashett and Kyle Tucker falling through the lap with every other team going other routes." Obviously being sarcastic at the end would be a shame if we got both. But this is crucial because these things matter a lot at this point and this is like things are falling perfectly into place for the Jays. Kyle Tucker hasn't signed. Bob Bashett hasn't signed but you think about the Phillies who also added another outfielder yesterday taking them fully out of the Kyle Tucker pursuit. You think about the Braves now adding high Kim. The Red Sox seemingly would prefer Alex Bregman over Bo Bashette. Very very notable. And then not only that, you have Buck Martinez going on Mo yesterday and saying to me, "This was the best clubhouse I've ever seen in Blue Jays franchise history." And he was asked, I believe it was by JD Bunkis directly, or it wasn't JD Bunkas, but he was asked about Bo Bashette and he said, "I know Bo wants to come back. He thinks that it's probably a strong eight out of 10 that Bo wants to come back to Toronto." And things are just falling perfectly into place here. And I keep saying that because it matters so much at this point of the offseason. We are now approaching January where of course you know Christmas is next week and we do have a report from Shabiti on the timeline here. But most importantly teams that are in on Bobette, teams that are in on Kyle Tucker are slowly decreasing by the day and it's at the point now where you look here slowly but surely the infield DH market continues to move and there is still a handful of really good bats left. Right. Bob Bashette who the Jays qualified. if he signs elsewhere they get that compens comp you know compensatory pick but you also have Alex Bregman available Suarez Luis Ryz and Ryan O'Harn the Jays now like Bobette's clearly I mean the best player here and then of course you have Alex Bregman probably second especially given age there's not many teams that are like what teams are actually in on Bobette now I'm sure there'd be a handful of them who are in if he's at second base and want to gets paid like a second baseman I don't think he wants to get paid like a second baseman which means the Jays now have an opportunity to not only bring Bob Bashett back, but do the double whammy and bring both of them back or rather bring Bo back and get Kyle Tucker because I mean Buck Martinez is say this, he's super in tune. Now, is he a reporter? No. But he was, you know, at the Jay's facility the year last year. He knows what he's talking about and he says he knows that Bo wants to come back. And that's what Bobett has said. And that's also, of course, what Keegan Mat has said on my channel in the interview, you know, three or four weeks ago that listen to what Bo says. When Bose says he wants to come back, he does. Now, all that being said, it's probably going to come down to money. And at this point in time, Shai Deviti, and there's a bunch of different reports. We'll start with John Marose one. He said yesterday that he thinks the Jays will be in there until the end on Tucker, but that Morosei doesn't expect the Jays to get both Tucker and Bashette. And he expects expects, sorry, a clearer Tucker pitcher regarding who the favorites are in the next 48 to 72 hours, which is a little bit ridiculous at this point. like there's so there's going to be lots of favorites throughout the time. But he mentions that he's going to expect a clearer pitcher in the next two or three days while also saying he doesn't expect the Jays to get both. So take this one with a grain of salt. But it is important that he does believe the Jays are going to get there towards the end because Shai Devidi specifically talking about Kyle Tucker says that his understanding is that they will be meeting with you know they being Kyle Tucker in his camp they will be meeting with other interested teams this week and then his market will proceed from there. So, I expect to get some more, we should expect, sorry, to get some more insight from guys like John Heyman, you know, some, you know, pieces of information about what teams a he's met with and b, of course, what teams he's actually interested in because there hasn't been many rumblings at all. Like, the only rumblings we've really heard were the Phillies and right now, of course, it's and they're out of the play for Tucker after signing multiple outfielders in free agency. They have way too many, including Nick Castanos, who they're seemingly going to trade. not really relevant to the Jays there, but also of course you're thinking about in the perspective of they have so many um they're going to have a lot of meetings. The Dodgers, that's the only other team at this point that we've heard and it's seemingly between the Jays and the Dodgers at this juncture. If he wants a longer term deal, the Jays make more sense if he wants a shorter term with a higher AAV. There's rumors out there the Jays don't really want that. The Jays could go the route of giving him $400 a million dollars with opt outs throughout the contract. But how beneficial is that to the Toronto Blue Jays? That's the big question mark. But there's clearly something here with this team. And Dylan CE came out yesterday and I'll probably cover that video later today or tomorrow in some capacity and just spoke about how excited he is for this team to win and that he even said what's the latest rumor? We're getting Kyle Tucker. Like he said that in of course a rhetorical fashion. He doesn't actually know. We don't think. Uh, but all these things matter a lot and you can see here from baseball and stitch podcast, it feels odd that Kyle Tucker to Toronto both feels inevitable and also not even close to a done deal. Even with an injuryridden 2024, he's been a reliable lineup piece. Would you give him the $400 million projected? And that's where I want to ask you guys the question, would you guys give him $400 million? Because it's clear what his demands are now, right? I think at this point the Jays probably have an offer in the realm of $320 to $350 million and he's waiting for the market to come down a little bit. We'll probably hear more about the numbers like Shottabiti says in the next few days, but he doesn't whether they get both I think is more feasible as things go on. I think if they get Tucker first, it's probably more likely they're able to pull off Bett. But if Bett signs first, I wouldn't expect them to get Tucker after Bett. And maybe that's just the way I'm thinking about it, but I think if they go ahead and they pull off Kyle Tucker before Bashette, I suspect Bett's probably going to wait for Kyle Tucker, even though it is an independent market. They don't directly impact each other, just seems to be the way things are going to go. The Jays could pull off both here. Jeff Pass's been saying it, of course, we've been saying it on the on the channel, and in case you missed it, Jeff Pass, he said a few nights ago on MLB tonight, I think there is definitely a chance the Blue Jays can land Tucker and Bette and would make them without a doubt the favorites to win the AL. And with each passing day, more teams falling out of the race for Boba. All of that becomes more likely and the Mo is afraid of that in particular because a team that made the World Series last year adding two more bats and a Scion caliber winner or Sion caliber pitcher and Dylan Case, man, that's a scary site. Let me know what your thoughts are on that. Speaking of scary sights, the Jays, they've made a couple moves here. So, they officially announced the acquisition or rather the signing of Tyler Rogers 3 years 37. Justin Brule has officially been DFAD to make room. So Justin Bull of course a lefty last year. I mean funny enough he made the ALDS roster. We think back to that because they wanted to have multiple lefty relievers in the bullpen for the lefty heavy lineup. Throwback now to what feels like a year ago. It was only just a few months ago or a couple months ago rather in October it um a month ago really a month and a half ago but Justin B's gone. Tyler Rogers is in. I found this graphic here and I obviously been speaking about in my videos about how the, you know, tandem of Trey Savage into Tyler Rogers is going to be unbelievable. Look at the difference here. And shout out to Blue Jay's Twitter for posting this. It is the highest average vertical release point last year with Trey Savage followed by the lowest vertical release point. So this is going to be a special special year for this Toronto Blue Jays team, I think. And you look at all the things that can happen. Yes, the Bobaet stuff, Kyle Tucker, get one of them at least and you're in a very good spot. And I think it's important to remember the acquisitions they made so far have been huge, right? Like yes, we're waiting all waiting in anticipation for the biggest move, which is going to be Bo or Tucker. They've already made a huge splash, like a bigger splash than 90% of the other MLB teams, right? By getting Dylan C. So keep that in mind here as we approach what's going to be undoubtedly a very, very busy next few weeks. Hopefully they either get it done, you know, a a few days before Christmas or a few days after Christmas so we can enjoy the holidays. But let me know down below what your thoughts are on this. Things are picking up.

Nick Gosse breaks down the latest updates surrounding Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker, and discuss multiple moves they have made.

  1. It will be a big mistake to give Tucker $400 million, jays will be left holding a bag in a couple years. Just bring back Bo on $280 million instead. He is tested and proven to be effective in Toronto.

  2. Bo can go! Clement isn’t (arguably) a drop off from Bo at 2nd and Tucker is a huge upgrade over Lukes, ,Schneider, Straw, Loperfido, Varsho, Santander, and even George!
Getting Tucker allows them to trade at least two outfielders (Lukes, Schneider are my vote) and save Bo’s money for Imai and add Berrios to a trade package.

  3. From day 1 all Bo cares about is top bid. Doesn't matter if it's Toronto and it's all Bo has ever talked is getting paid. Go after Tucker and better player than circle back for Bo at our price!

  4. Once again, as I have said before, Vladdy is the face of the franchise, and is making $36mil/season. They should not bring in a guy that they would pay more than the face of the franchise. If they can do Tucker at 10 years $330 -340 mil, then do it. Otherwise do not pay him more per year then Vladdy, it is not a good look.

  5. Morosi's right. They won't land both Tucker and Bichette because doing so means that a "small parts for big part" trade has to be made, and that requires a partner that either doesn't exist or isn't revealing themselves.

Would I give Tucker $400 million? Absolutely not, even with deferrals. If they do that, then someone has to be moved for a player whose impact will be significantly less than the required overpay.

  6. I want Bo back but I want him back at second base. We will be so much better defensively with Gimenez at short. Bolstering our infield is now even more important with our new pitcher, Tyler Rogers, who generates a lot of ground balls.

  7. There's no space for Bichette and Tucker unless Santander was moved. Clement and Barger are full time players and we're out of space for them. Teams need guys like that to allow for the bigger contracts. I can't see anyone taking Santander

  8. Ben Nicholson Smith said on the JD Bunkis show that he heard from sources they think Bo and Tucker will not be signed until January and maybe February.

What is a bit concerning is what Joel Sherman said about Tucker and his desire and passion to play baseball.
This may explain why his market is not developing as expected.
