I remember being a sophomore in high school and being absolutely mind fucked by this.

I also remember my old man fuming for good reason.

Where were you guys at when this happened?

  1. 24 years ago citizens took a stand against an unfair and potentially corrupt system that sealed the fate of the browns post season hopes

Nearly 2 and a half decades later we are in about the same position as the franchise was then and the impact the fans made that frightful day led to nothing really positive for the Browns nor Cleveland in general

But it looked cool at least

  2. This was just before my time as a Browns fan. I was young, but I can appreciate what this truly meant. For once, the fans had enough. The fans were consistently screwed over, over the past years, and when a 1 of a kind, rule breaking sort of action prevents you from going to the playoffs… I just can’t blame them. I had uncles there, and they said it was a wild game, and you could just feel that energy building throughout the game. For some reason, I am not ashamed of this piece of Browns history… It felt like something that needed to happen after all that happened to the team and the fans.

  3. I had never before or since seen a play be reversed after another play had occurred. There’s not enough bottles in the world…

  4. We were at that game and a friend was thrown out during the Anthem! He took a sip of his bottle and security saw him. He had to sit in the car and listen to it on the radio! We still laugh about it, but him not so much!

  5. Section 511, my sophomore year as a 3b & pitcher for my team. I was with a bunch of my parents drunk friends and must have contributed 50+ bottles to the jags sidelines.

My favorite part of that was seeing a jags player turn around arms out towards the stands with a little. Bring it on arm flip and the bottle I’d released a split second before he did that. Just absolutely buzzed his dome.

I still have a starter jacket and a really nice scarf that people were leaving in the stadium that day saying they were totally down at the Browns forever.

  6. 8th grader Section 340 with my Dad. That was the game my Dad gave me some beer and “Dont tell your mom”.

Mayhem happens and He tells me not to throw anything. Still one of my favorite memories of a Browns game that I attended. Along with the stupid Dwayne Rudd Game

  7. To be honest we weren’t going to make the playoffs anyways we were 6-6. Reverse that game we’re 8-8 instead of 7-9. We got blown out on two after.

Lowest wildcard was the jets / ravens at 10-6.

I always remembered this as having stronger playoff implications but we basically needed to win out to even have a shot at a wildcard spot.

    Still a bullshit call though.

People used to huck batteries and dog bones at people, society has become obnoxiously civilized.

  8. I worked for Tenable security. Had always worked the Indians games and lots. After the Indians season ended I didn’t have work but they called to see if I wanted to work a Browns game. I turned down the offer and was able to watch this at the house instead.

  9. I was there, it was wild. The booing was so loud toward the refs and then bottles just started flying. This incident led to all caps being removed before bottles were sold to fans.
