It’s what you get when it’s the only MLB choice in Bay Area. Mediocrity, Giants don’t have to be competitive to make money.
I’m going into 2026 with lowered expectations. We got a new unproven manager, who I think will learn fast how to manage a major league team. But also I’m not expecting any big signings this off-season. If the Giants do anything “big” it’ll most likely be during the season like when they picked up Devers. 2026 will be like 2025 unfortunately. Go Giants!

I’m more waiting on a trade than some big free agent acquisition. Anybody not named Kyle Tucker is not worth the asking price, and for sure Tucker ain’t coming here.
EDIT: I firmly believe this year’s class of free agents is VERY weak compared to past years. Every deal that’s been done so far seems like a MASSIVE overpay, even for Tyler Rogers. If the Giants don’t end up getting Framber Valdez, (The Athletic predicts he gets a 7 year deal close to $200m for a 32 year old starting pitcher) I won’t lose any sleep.
On paper we should be much better than the 2025 season showed. And our roster is much better than 80 percent of teams. This team just needs to get an ounce of confidence and starting tearing it up like we did at the beginning of last season—-except keep it going.

I will say, I was surprised none of the cheaper pitching moves seemed to be on the radar either. I feel like letting Kenley Jansen go was a mistake, on a one – two year deal, seemed like a reasonable stopgap until Randy is back
I think what needs to be remembered is how well things were going for the team up until that July collapse. BoMel is gone and we have a lot of the roster still in tact. Yeah, we could use another arm in the rotation, but this franchise has done more with less. I’m excited for 2026.
We are going to trade for Donovan or Chisholm and sign Scherzer. That’s it, and that’s fine. Let’s roll. Our existing players are going to have to develop and get better – Ramos, Lee, Eldridge, Bailey, Susac, Gilbert, Jerar Encarnacion, Wiemer, Whisenhunt, Tidwell, Birdsong.
Greg Johnson said they wouldn’t be big spenders and unfortunately the looming lockout doesn’t help at all.
Giants need new ownership. Team will remain in mediocrity purgatory until then.
I am genuinely dissapointed in the ownership not pursuing Imaga or Imai. They would both bolster the bullpen and the way the MLB contracts are written you could back load the deal or give a signing bonus to cut down on future salary problems. Why not spend some money on a really good pitcher make a run at Bo Bichette for 2nd and then tinker with the outfield by putting Gilbert in Left.
You’re gonna get Harrison Bader, a trade for Brendan Donovan, and Max Scherzer and like it.
And before people are like “but Harrison Bader was good last year” look at the underlying stats. That is NOT his true talent level with the bat.
There is value in waiting. Giants can see if any of the minor offseason moves work out, what didn’t work, more specifically how the team needs improvement. Maybe someone starts hot and becomes a decent asset to trade for a more known quantity player during the season, a la Devers with Harrison.
For the big names in a tight free agent market, the years can screw you in the long term. With a former college coach familiar with the next few years draft classes, I like the idea of the Giants stocking up on younger, cheaper talent to build around the current core and making the right move when it feels like the team has a chance to go the distance. Go Giants.
Playing it safe the way these FA deals are going. Try to get 2 starting arms and dumpster dive for a handful of hard throwing relievers and see why they pan out to in ST.
I’m sure there are still plenty of 14 year veterans coming off an injury left for us to sign.
Posey and Johnson are at war. At this point the dodgers aren’t the giants biggest rival Greg Johnson is.

Are you new here?
Edit: Judging by the hat you chose, I’d say yes.
