Partial team sale will significantly clear Twins’ finances, may set table for future sale

  1. I take comfort in the fact that despite what the Pohlads are saying this points quite strongly to a sale within the next 5 years or so. In the near term it’s going to suck though.

  2. I can’t read the story, but I suppose the partial sale pays off some of the debt that scared off other buyers?

    But then what?

The new buyer still would be buying even less of the team.   When that still be lead to a price problem all over again?

  3. WARNING PETTY CONTENT FOLLOWS

I’m going to make a second post to bite my thumb at all the dinks who downvoted me for doubting “the sale could be done / agreed on before the season starts” BS from last year this time …

    -bites thumb-

  4. The team (source) blaming George Floyd for their rapidly accumulating debt is a new low, even for them.

  5. Just imagine what a _complete_ team sale would do. Not like there isn’t a fantastic example on the other end of Target Field Plaza or anything like that.

  6. Oh yeah, I’m sure. I’m sure it will. I’m sure they’re going to look for people to take their golden goose off their hands for them, because they have always shown such common sense and business acumen. /s (Twins are doomed)

  7. Let’s be crystal clear. These 3 limited partners have no interest in improving the on field product. This is solely a money play to ride the continuous increase in franchise value and make an ROI on a sale after the CBA and national TV contracts are negotiated.

By 2028 at the latest the team will be sold. In the meantime, this does nothing for us fans.

  8. I honestly hate that being a fan of this team means I have to care more about its finances than I do about its performance
