How MLB Teams’ Values Compare To Other Major Sports Leagues And Clubs

  1. wait, how the fuck are the Celtics’ valuation higher than the Red Sox. i live in Boston, it’s no comparison between the two in popularity

  2. Red Sox logo on top of the Cubs logo looks like feet balancing on a ball, heehee. That’s it, that’s all I have to contribute to this thread, please move along.

  3. How are the jets THAT high? I feel like they haven’t been competitive in an incredibly long time.

I know that popularity doesn’t correlate with value fully, but it just seems high.

  4. If the Yankees were to get sold, they would go for way more than $8.5B. The merchandise alone is worth that.

  5. Interesting how much higher the yankees and dodgers are compared to Real Madrid. Never would’ve assumed so

  6. I imagine the growth of popularity with the nba around the world compared to baseball has caused the nba team valuations to all rise significantly

  7. Giants being that high is surprising to me. They don’t act like it.

I’m also a little shocked at the value of all the NBA teams. I didn’t think they were doing that well that almost the entire league is ahead of MLB, and also ahead of quite a few major soccer teams. Like if you told me earlier today that that the Houston Rockets are worth more than PSG, Bayern Munchen, and Arsenal I would have thought that was insane.

It does seem that success drives value. That’s the only explanation for the GS Warriors who were not a prominent team when I was young. On the other hand it doesn’t explain how a mediocre franchise like the Cowboys can be so far ahead of everybody else.

  8. It’s insane that the giants are worth that much and they don’t spend shit.

I fucking hate you Greg Johnson. your a shit owner and you need to sell the team to someone who cares wants to win.

    Sell the team

  9. I’d love to see this data. It just inherently doesn’t feel right, but maybe I’m ignorant. I feel like basketball teams are way too high and soccer (non-MLS) is relatively too low. And is hockey really in step with baseball?!? I’m Canadian and that doesn’t feel right to me

  10. This makes too much sense but is also sort of a TIL because I never made this conclusion, but I’m apparently a fan of one of some of the least valuable franchises in each of the four major US pro sports lol. Had to Google the NHL one because it’s a little covered up, but 22/30 is the highest of the four for me then.

I’m very surprised European soccer team values aren’t much higher.

  11. Were Packers at zero? Also the two leagues with huge tv deals are most valuable which makes sense. Now if baseball ever has better nation broadcast rights it would be higher.

  12. What’s surprising is that Hockey team valuations are basically the same as Baseball’s minus the top 4

  13. Crazy seeing Golden State above Lakers and Celtics after all these years.

And I’ll still never understand how the Cowboys are so popular.

Also, I figured a soccer team would be highest since it’s such a huge world-wide sport.

  14. I know nfl is king and nyc and all but the jets being valued that far ahead of the cardinals is so depressing

  15. Real Madrid being less valuable than the Washington Commanders makes me instantly disbelieve this list. If you know anything about the popularity of the top tier spanish football clubs, you know how absurd this is.

  16. This list so ass lmao. Lakers, and Yankees would easily top this list. Cowboys are top 5 for sure but the valuations for some of these teams are insanely low.

  17. There’s absolutely no way the warriors are the second most valuable franchise in American sports. I don’t even believe they’d be more valuable than the Knicks or lakers

  18. Im gonna get hate for this, but the NFL is not a good product anymore. The game is riddled with commercials, penalties and injuries. They do a hell of a job selling it though.
