Blackhawks vs. Maple Leafs | NHL Highlights | December 16, 2025

No Connor Badard for the Blackhawks. Injured
against St. Louis last week and out until 2026, which sounds worse than it is. 2026 is How about
that line change away off the ice. Hawks make a quick change there as Nick Juan drops it off
for Max Doi. That is back up by Oliver Moore, one of the bushel young Blackhawks.
They've had 11 first round picks the last four years. They go to Joshua Long
shot. That's kicked out by Spencer Knight. Here is former lead Tyler Matusi. Swings that back
to Conor Murphy. A long shot knocked down by Wool. Kicked free by Ek Larson or stays on it. Played
back to Mash with a shot. Kicked out by Wool. Rebound loose in front. Knocked away by W. Homer.
Whatever. Although he will miss Conor Madar. A lot of those goals were assisted by 98. Got it. Leave
pass for Joshua barreling in on the goal post and Dakota Joshua back in the lead lineup in the right
direction and it starts with skating like so many players. The high flipper doesn't look for it.
Just trust it's going to come down and one of the few players who has the frame to fend off classic
tries to go that ring off the post there. Little against the grain. Oh, kisses the iron. The record
with him in the lineup in his career has not been great, but it's twice as good as when he's not
there. So, and that was when he wasn't playing as well as he is now where he is the driving
force behind everything they do offensively. Case off one back by the Hawks. And Kaiser shot
scores. Wyatt Kaiser moves in and sneaks that by Wool. And the Hawks have scored first on the
goal by Wyatt Kaiser. It was a picket fence set up. Donado shots Cowan way back and there's just
no pressure. You think Cowan has to work a little harder and not allow himself to get picked off
by Donado as the reason why Kaiser has so much time is Cowan's pinned low below the hash marks.
That puck's probably going to go wide to the net. Tonado gets the goal. That's his first Mike since
New Year's Eve of 2023. What played five games by making it so obvious you're getting interfered
with on the way to the shooter. By the way, for Tonado, almost three years since he
scored, but only 19 NHL games. Oh, nuts. M brings it back out. W makes the point blank
save. Still loose in front. W down. They score. Poked it looked like by Dickinson. Now pile up.
There's Ben. Grabs a hold of him. There's goend interference. Trey Bub is all over his bench
right now. Regardless of the outcome of this, that is a different part of the conversation.
But to me, that puck squirts out off a shovel on the pad. That would not He's got it sealed up
pretty tight there, Gourd. The shuff of the goalie in the net after it pucks it behind him. I would
say no goal. This one should be overturned. It's the Leaf's second goalie interference challenge of
the year. They missed their first challenge. Video review was determined that there was goalender
interference. This is finality now from a guy who last scored nearly three years ago. That
borders on cruelty. You cannot do that. Kaiser doesn't even want it. Let's just say a long shot.
That's glove by Wool. I think Robertson peels back in the corner. Slides that back to front. Across
he goes to Pinwa te it up and shoots. They tried different things. Five forwards all Larson. They
go back to the original Morgan Riley. United have lost the puck though. Picked up by Krevier
up for MCA. Ma back across for Creier shoot. Scores. Jason Dickson finishes it off and Chicago
scores short-handed to take a two nothing lead. This one's going to count. Over skates it,
but Tvaris gets all the way back. Watch Davis dig in. He gets a lot of this puck. It goes right
under his stick and ends up on Dickinson's that's able to sweep it in the open side. No chance for
Joseph Wool. Back for Knander across for Riley to Knander. Long ridge shot tipped in front.
Knight down. Riley couldn't poke that home. Away comes Nazar with it along with Terrain.
Nazar for Terrain moving and shoots and gets a piece of that to knock it up without a play.
Another short-handed bid for Chicago. I think he just said crossmart to Terra Biden because
three guys on to take a two nothing lead. Fourth short-handed goal allowed by the Leafs
this year as Knight knocked that away from Ster. Ster Robertson backhands that down to Knight.
Shovels that to the side. Boards to Vertusi. Here's Morgan Riley up for nine. Chips that down. Knight up ahead to McCabe who makes his way off
the ice. And Crab Yates needs that back. At least Lauren Roll steers that
away. Leaves up to seven shots now. a race to it. Moore who can really fly moves
it back in front towards the goal by Lardis. It back around the glass with a funny bounce off
the stench and now N has it back in for Matthews through the middle for Knander. Knander back in
front by Knight. Point blank on N off a rush to turn over. There goes Austin Matthews. He's
moving. Melander up ahead and the puck ends up on Matthew's nice stick and he's so focused on
getting good contact on it. He forgets to aim. He could have put that anywhere short side. Would
have gone in or anywhere between the goalie's pads. Five hole would have gone in for Ben. Well,
that's knocked down. Dropped back up by Lardis. Turns it ahead for Moore. Moving and shoots. And
W gets a piece of that. Dash of Oliver Moore. Mastro goes back. Now McMahon knocked that down. mentioned Del Mastro made the opening
next lineup for Chicago but then sent to the miners as Riley shoots at the flex wide
between the legs action there from Tavarising back across choosing loose in front for N again
here's NY shovels it back in front just missed Matthews with that pass a drive back down
by Knight the first period but it's sharp into the second as Ster jumps on a loose
buck and he's got to fight that one off last second he picks it up by Troy Ster to get
his body out of the way so that he could shoot it and it was just the tip of the blocker
behind the goal. Preier stepped into him at the line. It's held by Riley. A long wrist
shot for stays on it. Fertusi lead the Hawks with eight power play goals on the year. Nazar
rolls that towards a goal that's covered up by Wool Tuzi. 16 goals this year on 63 shots.
Walkkins walk with a shot. Got just a piece of that. Off a leg into the corner. Another back
up by Creier. That back to Blazic. A long shot. Got True Wool. Makes the save. And on the
rebound, he turns away. MV as well as Kier kicks it back to his partner. That is a chop
tip from McKay on the fly by. There's a wall square out of control. He does a really
good job of making difficult saves. Look back down to N works back. Backhand shot by
Knight. Rebound back to Knander. A shot that was blocked by Murphy. That's what happened,
right? Jersey 25 years ago like five guys feet backwards. Let's do a long shot. Good pass
save by Wool. It turns away on the rebound. Here's another one rebound. There goes a
ball which was just right on top of him, but he's almost so close he can't elevate it
without shooting it over top of the net. The good work he did a couple years ago. Exactly
right. W for Joshua to go to Joshua. Shoots and Knight got the end of his stick on that.
Now Robertson end of a long shift here. Holds off Lardis. Drops it back to Benwis. Wrist shot
pinball just wide. Another chance and Knight squeezes the post to take that away from Cowan.
Chicago leads two nothing on multim hockey on the moves off the draw. Matthews backman
Larson with a shot. Scores all of Larson the point shot and the Leafs
are back within one. There you go. Win a draw, win a battle, get to the front of the
net, catch a break. So Matthew digs in. Little help from Knander. And I don't think
Knander gets that one. Knight just had a drop underneath with Larson's hot stick. Oh,
it catches the leg of creier. That's what forced it to change direction. What made it go
up at the end? Was that blastic or knee? No, it was off. Ties are tied up by Knander. Now
it's picked free by Man. pitch scores. Austin Matthews power play goal. The game is tied at
two and the captain comes up big when needed. And Matthews found it. The quick stick
of Keelander right here. Turns it over. M thinks he's getting out of it.
Keer pokes it off his stick with great awareness. And then how about
this little tuck short side? That is Austin Matthews at his best and asking for a
little something from the crowd. More energy, less negativity. We got ourselves a tie game.
He had one until he scored against San Jose last week. Now a bouncing bump for Joshua
scores. Dakota Joshua and the Leafs lead 3-2. 10 seconds later is happening right off the face off. Ster looks
to stretch it out. Puts it right on net. Spencer Knight kicks it in. Preier takes a slight step to
the corner. Assuming the puck's going to go over the corner. He loses body position and then the
strength and Dakota Joshua. He already rang the post once on a pretty similar play. This one he's
able to muscle up and off the post and in. What a turnaround inside. 10 seconds to go. Kaiser with
it. Pivots back in the corner. Time winding down. Caris shoots. Bull knocks that out away. And the
Leafs come back and win it 32 scoring three times.

  1. Play-by-play guy keeps repeating Toninato last scored almost 3 years ago, and he keeps getting it wrong. It's just under 2 years since New Years Eve 2023.

  2. Lucky win but still doesn't change the fact that the Leafs didn't show up until last 10 minutes or so. Firtst 50 minutes just looked like lost children trying to figure out how to play the game.

  3. Wait… so we’re keeping Domi but letting Bertuzzi walk? Right, because apparently having someone who actually scores goals and drives play is overrated. Brilliant move, management. Domi is useless. Next up: trading the goalie for a water bottle.
