Can he play any of those positions well though?
Aside from defense and positioning, dude walks a lot
He has a potential of like 7 years left on his contract with all the options and whatnot. I sure hope it pays off for the team as well as the player.
Really interested who will play shortstop this year
There are mini stretches during the year where Keith looks like a future 30-40 hr hitter with a good eye. Then he turns mortal the rest of the year.
Colt Keith dealt with injuries and playing new positions and still had an ops+ of 107 this year and is only 24. Why would they move on from him?
So you are moving him around from position to position which already signifies you don’t value him that much as a player
And on top of that instead of letting him play 2nd you sign and resign a guy who takes up his position after moving him to 1st and then back to 2nd
But you aren’t going to trade him because why?????
Does Harris even know what he’s doing with Keith because I’m not sure he understands how badly he is fucking up his trade value and his development as a player overall
Now you’re starting to play him at 3rd because why????
None of what Harris has done with Keith is making any logical sense
It reeks of Brad Holmes trading a bunch of future thirds to move up and take Tesla who everyone thought was gonna be Jamo’s replacement, only to resign Jamo and have Tesla never play at all
Why sign him to this long term deal if you have no plans to develop him at a position at all Harris???
Like I desperately want Keith to succeed but forcing him to constantly move and learn new positions is going to seriously fuck up his ability to develop as a hitter
It’s too much on the plate of such a young inexperienced hitter
Please stop giving him the mookie Betts treatment because Colt Keith is not mookie Betts

They kind of mess him up a little bit when they wouldn’t let him play second base after one year. But just based on stats he improve quite a bit from year one to year two. So I’m glad he’s here but I fear they will mess him up even more.
To me he needs to find a position he wasn’t great at second, wasn’t good at first , and we seen a small sample size at 3rd and he wasn’t good ( literally watched him drops 2 pop outs in the same game). Because if he’s just gonna be a DH that means we gotta play carp in the outfield which he is a defensive liability.
To me, it seems like Colt has a secure spot on this team, but also has a very tradable deal if he were to get hurt and a prospect takes and keeps his spot while he’s out. Not a bad problem to have.
Anyone saying we need to move Keith doesn’t know ball and I’d die on that hill with statistical, financial and analytical backing.
I predict Keith has a higher 2026 OPS than Alex Bregman. İ also predict that both Matt Vierling and Parker Meadows have a higher OPS than Harrison Bader.
