The Dom Smith-JD Davis in LF era. Good times
im assuming a kid has to be moved- theres just genuinely no room?
Vientos isn’t playing the field. Guy is a DH, Sterns himself called him a bat first player.
There’s going to be a LOT of moves this offseason
2019 infield was Frazier, Jeff, Rosario, and Pete and were good for 15-16 WAR.
I’d take that, but it would be where groundballs go to live
How am I older than everyone on this list besides Jeff and Semian? Where did the time go?
I feel like being a Mets fan is being in a constant state of Deja vu lol
Mauricio still being listed at 166 is so fucking funny
a bojack reference? in the mets subreddit? whats happening
And none of these people is a defensive upgrade at 1b.
Mauricio won’t be on the opening day roster, Vientos is 95% traded, and McNeil is basically an outfielder at this point if he’s not traded which he probably will be.
Yeahhhh we’re gonna suck for a minute here methinks. The young pitching will be fun to watch!! Would be metsy (positive) for them to make a run off of their pitching
You need 5: DH, 1B, 2B, 3B, and SS. There are 8 here. Lindor, Baty, Semien, and Polanco are locks. Mauricio can stay in AAA, so that’s one gone. You need someone to play 1B and you need a bench, so probably two more of these guys should stay. I have no faith in Acuña as a hitter, so he’s the one I’d trade over McNeil and Vientos, but at that point it just depends on what you can get.
Anyway, I don’t think this is as crowded as it seems. Last year we were rostering two DHs who couldn’t reliably field (Winker + Marte). So we had 6 outfielders, though 2 of them were useless defensively. Just getting rid of them increases flexibility. You have 13 spots for fielders. If we sign another outfielder, that gives you this:
C: Alvarez, Torrens
DH/1B: Polanco, Vientos
2B: Semien
3B: Baty
SS: Lindor
LF/CF: Benge + someone new?
RF: Soto
UTIL: McNeil
4th outfielder: Taylor
That’s just 12. Maybe there’s more room than you think.
Right…this is a joke the way this team has been constructed to this point. They have more 2nd baseman than they have STARTING PITCHERS. It’s gross.
I mean, this is the 40-man roster not the OD one…
No way Ronny, Acuña, and Vientos are all on the 26-man.
Having Ronny/Acuña as depth on the 40-man is fine.
Mets must sign at least one of these at this point:
Tucker
Bellinger
I love talking about how all is lost in december
Yikes!
Nice. Some solid starters and trade pieces. Good spot to be at this point in the offseason
It’s not even January my dude.
luisangel acuna isn’t going to be on the team for opening day. marcus semien i have no idea why we traded for that guy. i guess we constantly need a 36 year old on the roster each season.
polanco is a good utility bat i guess. you left off some prominent names on that list, like jett williams, jacob reimer and dylan ross, all of whom will get a shot this spring
Luisangel looks strikingly like Pedro.
Are we supposed to even care about any of these guys?
