…do we really expect the coach to come out and say how worried he is? I mean I hate canned coachspeak as much as the next guy but what do we expect him to say exactly?

Now, the goal to tie the game came from below the goal line and banked off of Jet’s mask. That’s an unreal shot, however, that doesn’t excuse away that it looked like they were on the PK for the last 5:30 of the game. Dumping it and retreating to the defensive end.

Just curious. How many practices have we had this season compared to last with the condensed schedule?
Honestly last night the team played really well with the lead. We were forechecking aggressively for once and Anaheim had trouble generating rushes. The goal on Jet was a high skill/fluke attempt that didn’t really represent the game dynamics at the time. We actually outshot them in the 3rd 9-8 despite them playing with more desperation.
After the goal the team looked deflated and Anaheim closed the shooting gap but I’d still say last night was a step in the right direction.

That last goal was a fluke, I wouldn’t count that with the other lost leads as there was nothing anyone could have done. And I’m not sure what people are expecting from Dean, I guess people are expecting a Torts throwing under the bus comment, but he’ll lose the room if he trashes them in the media
Part of the head coach’s job is to provide cover for the players and assistant coaches from the media and fans.
That includes things like this, where he tells the media platitudes and nonsense, rather than ripping into the players publicly.
Or, to put it shorter – the better the team is doing, the more of the praise he should redirect to the players, the wires the team is doing, the more of the blame he should take himself.
They just won a game, people are asking questions about bad results, he’s trying to find the line in between, not trying to sate the fans’ thirst for blood.

I think my biggest problem so far with Dean is to what his coaching strategy is…
Is he caching to develop and then win or is he coaching to win and develop secondary? Maybe these options are not mutually exclusive as ive presented them but I have a feeling it’s the former but it seems to only be helping Fantili and Mateychuk, maybe. Everyone else that needs it Voro, KJ, Silly, and Chinny seem to be barely treading water, in terms of taking that next step.
