[Begley] Knicks will not raise an NBA Cup banner at Madison Square Garden, per league source. NYK doesn’t want to diminish accomplishment but has bigger goals in mind, winning title in June, source said.

  13. I think an option to buy a banner for knicks fans to raise themselves should work as well. All proceeds going to Tyler Kolek.

  16. I don’t like this because let’s say in 5-10 years when the CUP becomes an even bigger deal with more meaning, are we gonna have to put up the banner for the one we won 5-10 years ago?

  18. I’m still Team Banner. I think it’s a great accomplishment that we should celebrate. It doesn’t have to be some obnoxiously huge banner, or even the same size as the other ones, but we should have at least something, somewhere!

    It’s not a meaningless trophy, even if it’s not as good as a championship.

  20. Fine with it, the big target is always gonna be the Larry. But we haven’t won jack since 1973. It’s ok to be happy about winning a trophy though, no matter what competition.

    Also you hang division banners which kinda mean very little if you don’t win the finals

    I’d rather NBA Cup (one team a year) then Atlantic Division (6 division winners) banner

  24. I agree. Win NBA Championship and raise a real banner. NBA Cup is just a small tournament.

  28. This is the correct way to do it. You can celebrate a “win”, but in the end it’s an exhibition game and the players main motivation aside from competition is getting that $$$. Not something that should be given a permanent spot in the rafters.

  29. Very good. I for one am not excited about this cup thing. It means nothing, doesn’t even count as a win on the W/L record.

  33. NBA Cup is a nice payday for end of the bench guys, but acting like it’s a real title is bush league.

  39. Meh, just give me a championship banner. It’s cool to win the cup, but I don’t care about the banner for this.

  41. I have absolutely no problem with this. If I had to guess, 10 years from now I won’t be able to name the last 10 winners of the cup. It just doesn’t really matter.
