Not a great long term idea here…
He's not going to resign with the Caps he wants to play with his brothers DON'T DO IT…. Especially if you have to give up Leonard or Hutson or Protas

Dont think we do it for Hughes i think at trade deadline look to add little bit more depth maybe jared mccann or someone can be star player.
This take on Hughes is a big L IMO. We are strong on LDs and would have to give away huge future assets and then some for Quinn, which would basically be a rental if he walks away after this season. Would rather bolster our top 6 in case of injuries as those are already stacking up w Leno, PLD and whoever else may succumb to injuries.

Why not just wait till he's a UFA? Vancouver's leverage is dwindling by the day so I bet their trying to deal him ASAP.
Lots of teams are salivating over our prospects. We are smack dab in the middle of building something special in Washington. I believe Cole Hutson has the potential of being a Norris Trophy caliber, puck moving defenseman for 20 years in DC. Let the other teams make risky moves. This gradual rebuild has been a work of art. Let’s see it to the end…

Would probably take Mcmichael, Sandin, Hutson and a first to get him. Hutson stings, but Hutsons best case scenario is becoming quinn hughes play wise. Would also screw us in the center position this season, other trades would be needed. But if we are getting him our left side is stacked and no room for neither Sandin (or Hutson in upcoming Seasons), so i'm 50-50 about it. If it was a trade and sign i guess ut would have been easier.
I predict Hughes goes to Minnesota 😂😂
