Tyler Linderbaum, Tavius Robinson Media Availability | Baltimore Ravens

this this we also had a really important visitor. Um Joanie Holifffield was here and she runs Hearts Miles which is a local foundation that works with uh underprivileged youth in Baltimore mentoring and other things doing amazing things that change lives. Uh she’s also dealing with her own personal uh uh challenges that she is she is overcoming and and fighting against like like a true hero. And uh she was at practice today. She’s our inspire change change maker for the Baltimore Ravens. he won the award and maybe you’ll get a chance to see her out there with the players after practice and uh just full of love and joy and and uh heart smiles. That’s that’s something to support out there if it’s something that you want to maybe get involved with for for Baltimore and for inner city kids. Okay. What questions you have? >> John, you mentioned with Derek May a big thing is the explosive plays the deep has downfield. What do you think is kind of the the key to try to to eliminate those? >> Well, I mean just play good defense. I mean, really, you got to you got to do fundamental things well, you know, especially uh he’ll throw the ball downfield. Uh they’ll do it with designed uh play action passes sometimes, sometimes drop back passes that are designed, but as often as not, they’ll just throw a nine route out there against press. You got to defend that. And then the extended plays, you know, where he’ll step up into the pocket and up and out of the pocket sometimes, make some throws, but he’ll also run. So, that’s kind of where he’s creating those plays. John, just talking about defense, uh, you know, obviously linebacker, just with Trent, just how have you seen him grow over his time here that kind of gives you that confidence in his ability to step up in that bigger bigger role now? >> Yeah, I mean, Trent’s played a lot of football here. He’s been playing all year. He’s been playing well. I think I think if you watch the snaps he’s been taking on defense, you know, last month, month and a half, whatever it’s been, uh, he’s been good. He’s done. He’s played well. So, he’ll step into that role, whatever, however we organize that with the different personnel groups that we put on the field. And I have all the confidence in the world that he’s going to play well based on what I’ve seen him do. You know, what I’ve seen him do practice and in games for the last, you know, five, six, seven weeks. >> Okay. >> Uh he’s he’s Yeah, it’s kind of a rest thing. I mean, the guys are dealing with different things from the game. Ronnie, uh those guys uh were held back today. Expect those guys out there tomorrow. We’ll see. But should have those guys tomorrow. Uh Lamar had an illness. He was kept home with a a flu deal. the the doc kept him home uh today away from the guys. So that was what happened with with that. >> Practice probably anyway. >> Is there other questions? >> Any other questions? >> That’s it. >> All right. Good. Thanks. Thanks. All right. >> What do you What do you see from defensive line? You know, they brought in a big addition to this offseason. What What do you see from them? Yeah, it’s a I mean, overall the defense as a whole is a really really hard-nosed group that plays the game the right way. Um, you know, tough, physical, everything, you know, you’re looking for in a defense to play for. Um, you know, obviously the Dline aspect, you know, guys play the game the right way. And I think it’s going to be one of the better, you know, Dines and kind of the front seven that we go against all year. >> Tyler, some of Derek County’s best in December and January in the cold, uh, just had 100 yards. what makes him so hard to break down as a running tackle? >> Yeah, I think um you know, size and speed certainly helps and I think you know he gets into that that secondary. Uh I don’t know how many DBs in this league, you know, want to tackle him. Um so, you know, he’s just he his physical presence, how he plays the game, how hard he runs, it certainly makes it it makes it hard all the time, but you know, certainly in these kind of you know, weather season games, it makes it even more challenging. >> Tyler, final home regular season game. I know you guys hope there’s more to come, but have you talked about how the way things have gone at home this year? Some of the ups and a lot of downs, I know. >> Yeah, I mean, obviously, you know, someone’s coming in our house, you know, we got to um we got to win games. Um we got to put on a show for our crowd and and end up getting wins like how we’re supposed to. >> I mean, over the years, Ravens have been probably one of the most dominant teams at home. It just hasn’t gone that way. Is there a reason why you don’t think it’s been as dominant at home this year as maybe? >> No. Um but you know the stuff in the past and all we can do now is just focus on Patriots this week and and finish off the year with a win at home. >> Do you buy into the notion that the offense could be turning the corner based on what you guys did against Bengals and the way you played you know recent games? >> Yeah I mean that’s our goal end of the day you know each week you know you know practice has been well you know execution wise and just got to translate to uh you know game days and give us you know our best chance to win all four quarters. you know, we got to play our our best football. Talent certainly is not an issue. You know, we have all the playmakers in the world. Um, you know, comes down to just execution and doing our jobs and then, you know, consistently playing at a high level for four quarters. You know, I think that’s that’s what we need to do and that’s what we need to get back to doing. >> Have you ever seen Ronnie as fired up as he was after the uh kind of the skirmish uh in Cincinnati? >> Yeah. Um, I certainly have seen him that fired up, but on the on a game day, no. Um, he had a nice little play, threw the guy down. Clean play, no flag, but obviously you don’t want the 15 yard penalty after that after the fact, but you know, Ronnie plays the game the right way. He plays hard. >> Tyler, um, there’s been some guys that get contract extensions here in recent weeks. You’re probably the most prominent pending free agent now on the team. Is that something on your mind? Have you had any talks with them about it? Would you like to get a deal done still even though we’re in season? >> Yeah. Uh, I’ll let my agent Neil handle that and you know, my focus is on football. >> All good. All right. getting back out there, you know, I guess it’s been like two months getting out there. How did it feel just maybe in the first few plays? >> Yeah, it felt so good to be back out there with the guys honestly and just being out there making plays with them, seeing them make plays. Um, you know, I kind of said it last week, like when I was hurt, it was just I would die to just play a field goal block snap at that point. So, it was just, yeah, great to be back out there. >> That was the first game you got to play with with Draymond Jones. Um, and Harbaugh talked on Monday about he he felt like you guys played off each other really well, made a nice pairing. Well, how did that go from your standpoint? >> Yeah, I think he’s a guy who just brings energy. He’s physical. He’s, you know, we play uh kind of similar in that way. So, it was kind of cool to just feed off of his energy, you know, feed off of each other’s energy and kind of just Yeah. play off each other. So, yeah, he’s he’s been great for sure. >> Talked about the similarity. I mean, both of you have the ability to slide inside in some obvious passing situations. How important is that for a front, especially the position you guys are in where, you know, you’ve talked about like the scheme up pressure. >> Yeah. No, I think it’s huge to be able to do both. For sure. And he’s a guy who’s kind of done that his whole career. So, uh it’s been good for me to kind of learn from him, take take from him, um you know, in the meeting room and stuff like that. So yeah, it’s been good for sure. >> Drake May is one of the MVP front runners. Just what have you seen from him on film this week? >> Yeah, you know, I think he’s a good quarterback. They got a good team over there. So, um, you know, it’s going to be on us to to contain him and and, uh, yeah, come up with a dub. >> When you think of the the quarterbacks you face specifically in the AFC this year, I mean, uh, Josh Allen, Mahomes, Drake May’s known MVP candidate, CK Stout, I’m sure missing some guys. like is this kind of as stacked a group in the conference as you can kind of remember going up against? >> Yeah, I think you know I think we’ve definitely played against some good quarterbacks. So again, it’s going to be a good challenge this weekend to go out there and get it done for sure. >> When you you kind of look over even during your time, one of the big things has been the domination at home. You guys are this year home losses are kind of stacked up a little bit. Uh have there been have you guys ever talked about maybe you know trying to you know ending the home uh with a with a win. Has there been any talk about that? >> Yeah, I think it’s so important because you know we got the fans who come out every week and support us and so it’s important for us to you know go one and0 this week and it just happens to be at home. So it’s uh very important for us to to do that. >> What’s your reaction when it gets flex to Sunday night football? Does it add does that add a little more juice for you? >> Most definitely. And I think, you know, prime time games, Sunday night games are always, you know, a little little bit more energy surrounding it. So, I think uh for sure. Yeah. >> What’s the importance of a fast start when you’re playing at home to kind of set the tone in the first quarter? >> Yes. >> Yeah. So important. I think, you know, starting fast and again just kind of having energy, you know, you know, when your brother makes a play, go celebrate, get that energy flowing in the crowd, you know, the team and all that. So, it’s uh it’s it’s very important for sure. Davis, obviously last week, I mean, it was a milestone for you coming back at the milestone for the defense getting the shut out. Did you guys also feel good for Zack who took so much crap early in the year when when you guys weren’t playing well. I mean, he kind of gets that signature game in in a huge game. >> 100%. I mean, uh, Zo’s been a great coach from from day one. Um, and I think, you know, he puts us in the positions to go out there and make plays every every week. So, it’s on us to execute uh, you know, what our job is. And so, yeah, major credit to Zach. been a again a great coach from from day one from training camp. So >> I saw Tavius you said after the game that after your sack you went and like high-fived all of the trainers that helped you kind of get back on the field. Can you just talk about fans don’t I think they don’t see that stuff. They don’t really know a lot about that. Can you talk about the work that they did with you to get you back on the >> Yeah. No, that was kind of the first thing we were talking about it during my rehab like after my first sack. I told uh Marcus I was going to come find him, give him a big hug cuz he was kind of the guy who was with me every day. Um and again, so it’s just a major, you know, I’m grateful for AD and the whole the training staff over there. Um you know, from day one when I got hurt the day after I said like I’m going to be annoying, like I’m going to be in here every second I possibly can. So like I like I’m just warning you guys now and and they were great in just you know that and again so yeah just really grateful for them and getting me back and yeah >> said that slide on your Instagram post of you kind of hobbling along. Um I guess how long ago after that initial injury was that? >> Yeah, that was uh that was my first time walking. So it was two weeks after because it was no weight for two weeks and then that was like my first time walking. Yeah. Yeah. >> Good. All right. >> All right. Appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you.

  1. Does anyone get illnesses more than Lamar? I wonder if it’s an undiagnosed food allergy or something like that. Impossible to explain otherwise how a healthy 28 yr oldold could get sick 10 times a year.
