A recent article on The Athletic listed figuring out the future of Alex Tuch as the top priority for new Sabres GM Jarmo Kekalainen. Tuch is a UFA after this season and is a 29 year old RW who stands 6'4" and 219 pounds. That certainly fits the criteria GM Pat Verbeek has seemed to covet while building this roster. This season he has 11 goals and 28 points through 31 games, a pace of 29 goals and 74 points over an 82 game season.
Is this someone the Ducks should target? If they acquired him, should he be a rental or should the Ducks sign him to an extension? We know the Ducks have the assets to get him regardless of what Buffalo is seeking but should GMPV be in on this if Kekalainen wants to put his stamp on the team quickly and make a splash?
EDIT: Most of you seem to be thinking I want to sign this guy to an 8-year extension. I don't and I never said I did.

No no. He wants around 11m. He’s a 70ish point player. We need to focus on D right now.
He’d be a great addition and I’d be happy to have him. But I’d consider going after a top D and another C before I looked at adding on the wing, personally.
I’d love to solidify #2C with like a Robert Thomas and then be able to shift McTavish to wing if he isn’t headed back in the deal.
Question is space wise where does he go?
Cutter, Leo, Moore, Zelly, Poehling, Trouba, all are on contract years.
Our biggest hole right now is defense. With how much he’s asking for, he just doesn’t fit the financial basket or the “needs” basket. Much rather trade for a guy like Rasmus Andersson and try and extend him
We already have slow old guys on the team to balance our youth this isn’t the move we should be making. If anything I’d rather get someone like Quinn from buffalo if he’s available to give us more secondary scoring for a cheaper/younger option.
Tuch at 11 million long term would be a nightmare
Pay the core first, then we can look to add players once we know where we are at, skill and cap wise.
Isn’t Tuch from Buffalo? I feel like he will resign.
Pass.
He’s going to demand a lot and doesn’t strike me as someone who necessarily moves the needle forward
We need a defensive defenseman and a second line pure goal scorer
