Warsofsky on “Special” Celebrini Game, Chernyshov’s Debut | Sharks vs Flames Post-Game (12.16.25)

Coach, having two of your top guys out tonight and having a game like that, what does that say? How far you guys come? >> Yeah. Uh guys stepped up. Obviously Chernese Chev comes in. Cards gives us some legs and those guys did a really good job. >> How important was it after that Pittsburgh win did not lose that momentum? >> Yeah, for sure. And I think anything gave us confidence uh you know that we we’re a pretty pretty good hockey team. >> What did you see from Mlin Cabbrini tonight? >> Nothing. He was just okay. Um he he’s a uh >> he’s a special one for sure. You know, uh it’s just every time you think he’s going to maybe slow down and and maybe hit a speed bump, um he doesn’t. He just keeps going and you can see he had legs early tonight. Um he’s obviously a very special individual. >> Spinama, is that one of the better goals he scored? Yeah, you know, I thought the passes, if you go back and watch the pass that he makes to Clingberg is is is so impressive for a young kid and um but then you watch him in his own end and when how he’s closing and killing plays. I think that’s what makes coaches excited, but I think what fans get excited about is the spin is. >> Coach, you guys go up to the two zero lead, but then they tie it up. You know, there’s been times where after games, you guys win a game, you kind of lose your structure. Did you feel that in the game you guys found the structure after maybe a little bit of loose hockey there after they tied it up? >> Yeah, for sure. I thought we, you know, I thought for the most part we controlled good moments of the game. Um, you know, I thought at times we complicated a little bit and we kind of put ourselves on on our heels, but um I thought, you know, big goal there to make it 3-2 um at the end of the period and then, you know, I thought our third period was a pretty solid. When you look at the fourth line, obviously the two goals by Goody is really nice, but they really handled a lot of the physicality and when you guys needed to turn it back, they kind of created that for you and it just fed to the rest of the team. How important was the fourth line tonight? >> Yeah, that’s their identity. They they’ve done it pretty consistently all year. Um, you know, when we need some energy, when we need a shift in the forche, uh, they bring it. They know exactly what their role is. >> You say about a William Akin seemed like he was all over the puck tonight. >> Yeah, he was as well making plays. Thought that line kind of started to find a little chemistry there. So coach, uh above 500 before the Olympic break. So how well do you think the team is playing? And um is this momentum to go into that uh Olympic break? >> We still got a long way to go to the Olympic break. Um you know, this is we’ll you know, like I guess we always say, we’ll enjoy this win and then at 12:01 we turn the page. We got a really good team here coming in to Dallas and um you know, we’re going to have to continue to build our game and and get better, but we’ll enjoy this one. concrete said that they weren’t able to handle your guys’ speed tonight that you guys they were you guys took advantage of that against them and that they just couldn’t handle you guys. >> Yeah, I mean our players would say it was the two days off. Um but it’s something we’ve we we were getting there as far as how we want to play with our breakout and our transition game. We have some speed that we want to utilize um consistent, you know, more consistently and I thought we did a better job of that tonight. >> What did you think of Igor? >> I thought he was really good. Yeah, he’s going to be another one. He’s going to be a good player. He he can make plays. He’s big. Um did not look, you know, overwhelmed by the moment whatsoever. >> Coach, obviously the 49ers are here. Sounds like KD and some of the other guys were hyped with the team. Just to see the collective, the Bay Area starting to rally around the Sharks here. How important is that just to start to earn the respect of just the Bay Area fan base and the other teams here too? >> Yeah, it’s awesome. you know, obviously they have had a lot of success and those guys were were in there before the game and I think they’re in there now having a couple cokes, but um you know, you could tell the passion that they they and the swagger that that’s why they’ve won and uh you can see it by, you know, the players that are here and the energy, you know, that they bring. But, um, you know, I think it’s great it’s great for this area. It’s great for the community to to see um two organizations and we’re building and we want to, you know, get to what they do and what they what they’ve the culture that they’ve uh set and the standard they set. Uh we want to continue to build that. You >> talk about when celebrating scored his goal, he had a really big smile on his face. Is that kind of contagious when you see that kind of youthful energy that he brings? >> Yeah, for sure. Yeah. We we say a lot, you know, a lot of things are contagious, positive or negative. And um when those things happen, those emotions, the the the feeling of joy, when you get some success is very contagious. It’s like an energy of um you know that you get on the bench that our players get get. So uh you could tell he was he was excited for that one. >> So 50 plus goals after 34 games. Do you think he was worth the number one pick? >> Now we should have traded down. So coach, in the second period, they try to push back with hits and physicality and how important it was to sort of contain it right there in that period. >> Yeah, you know, I think we do a really good job. Um, we showed, you know, that in Pittsburgh of sticking up for each other and, you know, getting in there as five guys on the ice. There was no, you know, we didn’t feel like we’re getting pushed around. I don’t think we’ve don’t see that happening. We’ve been pretty good with that all year. >> Nice to see Barkley rewarded like that. >> Yeah, for sure. He’s put he’s played some really good hockey this year and hasn’t he’s gotten some looks and some chances. Got some breakaway in Pittsburgh, doesn’t score. Um so, you know, happy for him to get rewarded. He’s kind of a uh you know, important piece of this team that that probably, you know, a lot of people don’t take a notice of. Uh what he means to our team in the locker room, what he means to our penalty kill and the details of the game and the winning habits they need to play with, the leadership that he brings. Um can’t say enough good things about Goody. >> And what do you think of a scaros performance? You know, like the Pittsburgh game, you think tonight was um good kind of uh you know, maybe not not the most perfect game, but he gutted out wins and made big saves and that’s Yeah, good lesson. That’s how you have to play. You know, sometimes you’re not going to feel your best. And made some big saves. I thought he got better as the game went on. Okay, >> good. >> Thanks, guys. Thanks, coach.
