OK, but why would Arenado be interested in us?
I mean if it’s just a salary dump that takes a few meh prospects then I wouldn’t be that opposed to it, last seasons infield defense was horrendous. However his offensive is obviously declining and he is getting injured more and more often. And I feel there is much cheaper and younger options for defensive first infielders.
Good lord. What are we going after a guy that is in steep decline for when there’s much better options? Okamoto has shown interest in the Angels and would be a perfect fit. Murakami seems to be struggling getting a longer termed contract, so if they are looking more to the future they could get creative with a longer contract to keep the AAV relatively low.
Expensive, old, hitting peripherals declining year after year….pass.
