Tarik Skubal probably stands more to lose with an injury than anyone else in the sport. He is one healthy and decent season away from getting a record breaking pitcher contract.
If he can still commit to pitch for his country despite that risk, then there’s no reason anyone else shouldn’t.

I do not need to buy another jersey, especially another Tarik Skubal jersey. And yet…
I like and appreciate letting the guys play. How you play for your MLB team isn’t the only thing that’s allowed to matter or have meaning for them personally. I think a great WBC lifts the profile of baseball in general in many places around the world in a way nothing else does. Also pitching was clearly the weakness that cost the US in the last WBC, so it’s great to see a number of quality pitchers on the roster this time.

As much as it’d be sad to see as a Royals fan, as a fan of baseball, I feel it’d be appropriate for Tigers to sign this guy to a contract that acknowledges his value so he can actually participate in WBC to the fullest extent without worrying about his future.
