Not sure how I feel about this, but if it lands a stud that improves the starting lineup, I will be able to live with it.

  1. I don’t like that, but I’ll reserve my judgement until we see who we’re getting. Strahm is solid.

  2. I just don’t understand it. You know they will be chasing a lefty out of the bullpen mid season if they do trade him

  3. I wonder what you can get for a Bohm Strahm package. If anything maybe like a decent prospect and then it frees up that money to maybe sign a solid 3B. My worry is that this would be done just to free up money spent on Garcia and Keller. If it’s to further improve go for it, but if it’s just to save a dime and a nickel spent on marginal improvements then no.

  4. This was hinted at weeks ago. I’ll reserve judgement on it until we see what the return would be. If all you get it salary relief it’s not great, but if you can get a decent player somewhere they aren’t as deep, then it’s interesting.

  5. I would obviously prefer the strong bullpen, but if trading Strahm frees up money for an infield bat or something I get it.

  6. His GB% (2025 was the lowest it’s ever been) and K% have tanked while his BB%, HardH%, LD%, and FB% (2025 was the highest it’s ever been) have all risen. I wouldn’t really be surprised to learn that we’re shopping him while the getting’s good.

  7. Getting older and costs a fair amount.

He is a all star level reliever. Trading him to improve some other parts is a smart move.

Especially if they have the inside track on some sort of decline.

I think tanner banks having a really great year has opened the door to the move.

Duran, Keller, Alvardo, Banks, Kerking, is a great 5 to start a bullpen and a lot deeper than you think.

  8. I’d be more inclined to trade Alvarado than Strahm if we’re simply talking about how I value them. Obviously other teams must value Strahm higher as well if he’s the one being inquired about.

  9. With his peripherals declining, pissing off Dombrowski with his Pitcher Fielding Practice comments, and his miserable performance in the playoffs the last 2 seasons, he’s gone.

  10. Fine with me. I like Strahm, but I don’t trust him in a big spot. 92-93 straight fastball as your bread and butter, with no real out pitch, is asking for trouble. Zero margin for error with that kind of stuff. It’s a shame, because he’s got guts. If you could combine Strahm’s make-up with Kerkering’s stuff, you’d really have something.

  11. Man, do people overvalue Strahm. He’s not landing us a student that improves the starting lineup. If he gets us a serviceable player, or somehow helps us get off the Castellanos contract, that would be a great return.

  12. I’d prefer to keep him because he’s a good middle inning lefty, but hopefully they’ve realized he’s that AT BEST. He tops out at 94 with no movement, as evident in the NLDS
