  3. This is kind of an annoying non-answer. I don’t know what I expected, but this is just basically “My agent *MAYBE* [definitely] is having talks with the team but *TECHNICALLY* *I* am not [except of course through my agent whom I pay to literally represent me]”

    Like I get that he was trying to say ‘I’m not talking about that right now I’m just focused on the team and getting healthy and making sure I can get back out there” but like…just say that man!

    Giannis is asked directly about a report that his agent is talking to the Bucks about a trade. He said he hadn’t heard that – his agent can talk to who he wants, but that his agent works for him and hes “locked in on his teammates”.

    He is not saying his agent is asking for a trade and he has no control over that.

  27. Well I will be the odd one out. Those are facts. Agents DO communicate with FOs without their represented player specifically requesting a trade. Agents proactively protect the players career. If a player is in a bad situation (like Giannis), it’s common for the agent to be in communication about other options for that player. If “better” opportunities are presented, things may escalate further. All agents do this for the players they represent.

    Why is everyone acting like this is nonsensical? It’s literally what agents do…

  29. He clearly feels guilty and doesn’t wanna admit how bad we suck. I think it’s honestly hard for him. He’d rather not leave but knows doc is trash, and so is the team, and no matter what he says, he media will spin in. Kind of lose lose from his perspective. I think he did have hope this season would be different. Is so clear that unless doc resigns, nothing will change for this team. Unless we get a healthy AD or something stupid

  34. First, Y’all forgetting that English is his second language, so sometimes his words may not always match his intent

    Secondly, I might be giving him too much leeway here, but my read is that teams have approached his agent to gauge the temperature, and his agent is likely talking to the Bucks to see where they stand. Basically, conversations are happening with his agent as the middleman, but Giannis isn’t directly involved yet. It’s all just “temperature checking.” If something becomes a realistic possibility, the agent brings it to Giannis, and then he and the Bucks sit down to discuss the future.

    I truly believe Giannis doesn’t want to be traded. He’s probably just told his agent to keep his ear to the ground and remain transparent with the Bucks that he wants to be here, but he’s also thinking about his future and whatever that entails.

    I think that’s valid, especially if we look at basketball as a job. Personal anecdote: obviously, I don’t have an agent, but I have a good relationship with my manager so I was transparent when I was fielding offers from other jobs because I felt stagnant. My manager came back a few weeks later with a lucrative package I couldn’t say no to, and that’s how I stayed. Nobody knew I was fielding offers or having these discussions with my manager, until everything was finalized.

    The NBA is a different beast compared to by lil office job but the principle’s the same – Giannis doesn’t owe us his every thought. He has a right to handle his business in private until he’s ready to go public. I mean this guy has done more for this organization than anyone imagined. He’s exceeded expectations time and time again, and was instrumental in elevating this franchise from obscurity to glory. We owe him some grace and the benefit of the doubt, so it’s disgusting to read some of the comments and see how quickly so-called fans turn on the dude simply because they can’t handle not being in the know.

    That’s my biggest issue with today’s social climate, everyone is so fucking impatient. They want answers immediately but trade rumors don’t affect your life, unless you’re a degenerate gambler. Why can’t we just watch the game, take what we have in front of us for what it is and address news when it actually happens, instead of foaming at the mouth, itching for soundbites, and reading double meanings into everything?

    I blame either Adam Silver or Ja Rule for this. He’s fed into it by giving the media undue access, allowing guys like Shams and Woj to normalize a culture of viral scoops and breaking news. I get the excitement, but the parasocial ownership fans feel over athletes is getting seriously fucking weird. I miss the days when we just allowed life to happen, kicking rocks and kissing girls without worrying about tomorrow. It made it that much more meaningful when real breaking news happened, instead of the manufactured contrivances of today. Shit man, idk wtf I’m talking about anymore, think I put too much alc in this eggnog ima sign off now.
