There’s basically no way he comes back after 2 TJs and a ruptured Achilles. Fuck that sucks. I wish he had a chance to pitch for us last year
That’s brutal. Not that there’s ever good timing to rupture your achilles, but this is about the worst it could be for him.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy, but really. I always wanted more for John, but he’s made of glass.
Throws a no-hitter and God says “That’s enough good things for you”
I wish I had his faith and confidence because this is just brutal
Wonder what team it was for
Baseball gods have it out for this man, I guess
Damn I literally just looked him up the other day and wondered what he was up to.
Dude was nasty for a little while !!
That sucks. Such a good dude and a bright spot in dark times.
awful
Whenever something like this happens I go check out their baseball reference page and see how much money they made over their career. It makes me feel better that at least they should be all set financially. In case anyone is wondering, Meansy made about $10.5 million over his career.
Impressive number of people trying to dunk on this guy for having some religious beliefs.
It’s not hard to not agree with them and yet not be an asshole when he’s at his lowest.
at least God has a plan for him
I still firmly believe this guy could’ve been the ace the Orioles seem perennially to be lacking. One of the best changeups I’ve ever seen. (Also he worked incredibly quickly, which I love.) Just could not stay in one piece. Bummed for him, again.
Was he training around the Indianapolis metro area?
Holy fuck, have the baseball Gods had it out for this guy or what the past several years? Jesus, man. I just want John Means to stay healthy and kill shit once again.
Fucking A man. I have been looking forward to his return. Feel bad for this dude. Ughhh
I got this dudes bobblehead when I went to see the Braves at Camden and wondered what happened to him.
If it wasn’t for bad luck, this guy would have no luck at all.
poor guy, i’m glad he’s taking it in stride though. that really can’t be easy, especially without warning when you were finally feeling healthy!
Such shitty luck. Poor guy
damn thats rough hope he bounces back strong
Orioles should bring him in as a part time coach/broadcaster/community relations guy while he rehabs. Basically a personal services contract to rehab himself. I’d argue he deserves a place in the Orioles HOF (admittedly not the most exclusive of team HOFs). And he’s definitely still a fan favorite. Feels like a win/win to give him a home in the organization.
Why do they all turn to ‘god has a plan’ lol what a joke. I hope he gets well soon but god has nothing to do with it
This fucking sucks. Dude has had the worst luck.
One of my favorite Orioles of all time. Orioles please just hire him to hang out at Camden
This sucks
i’m going to throw up
God’s plan was to screw him over apparently.
Some of the comments seem unnecessarily snarky here, not sure what Means did to piss anyone off. I feel devastated for him and hope he has a speedy recovery.
It’s seems God doesn’t want him to play baseball. Maybe he should try ministry.
I was at his no-hitter in 2021 in Seattle. It was a dropped third strike away from being a perfect game. I got a shirt that says “John Means History” that I still wear periodically.

This is such a bummer.
