Cincinnati Bengals Fans Probably Didn’t Want to Hear What Joe Burrow Just Said | The Rich Eisen Show
Joe Burrow spoke yesterday and my gosh, these sessions like they should have him do this from the couch because the questions that that are being asked, >> you know, like lie down on the couch, >> Dr. >> Dr. Melie, I mean, whatever you want to do. Analyze this, analyze that, however you want to go in terms of a pop culture reference for um a therapy session. But Burrow last week, as you know, made it sound like if I want to keep doing this, I need to have fun. Oh, it’s got to be about either his injuries or certainly it’s got to be about the Bengals, right? And um and then he after the game was like, “Yeah, that this was never about the Bengals. It’s not about it.” Okay, this is after a shut out. Then he’s just like, “I’m a football player. I love playing football. Now comes his press conference yesterday and uh they went the media went diving back into his mindset and whether he wants to keep doing this. Is it about the bang? All of it. Hit it. Go for it. >> I like playing football. Um for for the same reasons that I wanted to push to come back from injury, same reasons I want to play this week. It feels like everything everybody’s trying to do everything in their power to make me not play football and I feel like I’m fighting it like fighting everybody else. Like I just want to play I just want to play ball. That’s all I want to do. >> He’s a gamer. That’s all he’s about. You speak to anybody whether it’s what Jordan Palmer’s been on here. Um and I’m I’m sure his insights are really keen. uh works with Joe Burrow and his bro who I believe just won the state championship as his as his first fora of uh being a high school coach I believe. >> Yeah. Yeah. Carson. >> Um congrats to you Carson. This is all about for Cincinnati Bengals fans the PTSD of Carson Palmer. First overall selection. Savior of the team. You’re going to take us from the depths to the heights. Where’s the same frigin number Joe Burrow? Where’s the same number? nine. It’s the same every Bengal fan. Is it happening again? Is Burrow going to just wake up one day and say, “I’m done here. You folks don’t get me. I don’t get you. You don’t protect me. You don’t give me the, you know what I want. You don’t give me the roster.” What they have given him though is the money. I mean, they took Paul Brown’s name off the damn stadium. You know, they took Paul, you know what I mean? Like the the Brown family just took the Bengals name off the stadium and finally sold it to some corporate. That’s why we nickname it PJO Stadium. >> Yeah. >> Right. So, it’s it’s like one more time. You want to play here, hit it. >> Is there any world in your mind where you’re not the quarterback of the Bengals next year? >> I could I couldn’t I can’t see that. No. Have you ever both thought about the possibility of not being the quarterback here during your career or >> you think about a lot of things >> and when you look at quarterbacks over the course of their time, great ones, Hayden, Brady, you kind of have to understand that you never know what this league will bring. And what did you learn from watching how their careers unfolded? >> Yeah, a lot of crazy things happen every year. Um, Micah Parsons got traded right before the se right before the season, I think this year. Um, that is a something I hadn’t seen in a long time in the NFL. So, crazy things can happen. >> Not exactly. I love it here. I’m going to be a Bengal the rest of my life. >> I mean, but what do you want him to say, though? >> That I think if you’re a fan, you want to hear that. >> I’m a Bengal for life. Why would he ever say such a thing though? >> Because we know you you right there should know that that’s not the case. You would have never thought Brady would have left, right? Like >> right and Favre and Manning and Joe Montana and the list goes on and on. >> I know places where I mean Pton Manning is a statue. The stadium, you know, the statues in front of doesn’t exist without Pton Manning. And even he left. >> Yep. All of those players once said they want to be that >> I got it >> team for life given an opportunity to do that right now. >> Of course I cannot I cannot I can’t see not being the Bengals quarterback. >> Really couching all his words very carefully. >> Rich, I think at this point we can we can name more great quarterbacks that didn’t leave. >> Something is up. Did >> something’s up. Something’s up. >> Something’s up. What is it? >> I just think it’s a frustration of a season. >> I really do. because I I mean, you know, this organization, this coach, if the coach has got contract, he’s gonna he’s going to he’s going to be the coach. And they don’t trade for people. They don’t do that sort of thing. That’s what even Peliser goes. The Bengals don’t trade. They don’t make trades. >> It’s rare to make trades. >> Bill can sit. >> Well, that’s what Carson said he was going to do. And that’s why Bengals fans are losing their minds. But what do you want him to say? No, I’m going to be a Bengal for life. Don’t worry, Cincinnati fans. I’m totally cool with what the front office is doing. I’m cool with everything else. >> I’m committed to bringing a championship to Cincinnati. >> I think he would say the same thing if you ask. >> He didn’t. He was given an opportunity to do all that. >> No, he was given an opportunity. Like, do you think of going somewhere else? >> You’re supposed to say, you can think about committed to winning here in Cincinnati. >> But what if it’s that? What if that’s not the truth? >> Clearly, it’s not. He didn’t say. >> So, lie to me. Lie to me. Is that what you say? Lie to me. Lie to me. The fans. Please lie to me. Please lie to me for sure. Okay. >> It’s not a lie. >> Nice. >> If you believe it. >> Good one. >> Well, speaking of Castanza, >> he he gone. Like, I think we need to we need to wrap our mind around that, man. >> No, no, no. >> Maybe Castanza, other things you say they don’t do. Maybe they should look and say, “We haven’t been successful doing this way. Maybe we should try making a a trade or doing something different at this point.” >> I don’t know. I I again, you wantanna you want to say that to Jerry? Is that gonna is that advice that Jerry would take? >> Well, the problem is Jerry has, you know, three of them things. So, no matter how long it’s been, he’s at least >> had success in one. Like, the Bengals have none. >> Yeah. >> I don’t know. Joe has to wear some of this, too. They did what he wanted. They drafted the wide receiver he wanted. They resigned both wide receivers that he wanted. They got shut out last week. He has been injury I don’t want to say prone but a lot of injuries have popped up in his tenure. He needs to wear some of this as well. >> Wear what? >> The losing >> the losing. Okay. >> Or he’s Joe Burrow. He is the window. And >> yeah, we we can’t say he’s Joe Burrow anymore. >> Okay. >> This season is kind of taking some of that shine off. >> Well, next season when everybody’s back cuz I bet you everything’s everyone’s going to be back. Although two days ago I did say two is going to be back and that’s a little different now. >> Well, their best defensive player ain’t going to be. >> We’ll find out. We’ll see what Joe’s going to do when the off season hits or every Wednesday it’s burrow up in the air Wednesday. >> That’s what it is. That’s what’s coming in Cincinnati. They could use the win. By the way, look at the Dolphins. What? That’s That’s a good one. That’s a good game. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Yeah, Parsons went to a team with a chance to play in January. Maybe Joe just likes the long offseason
Joe has always given more insightful, self reflective answers than your average QB who just parrots the perfect PR message all the time. This is a big nothing. Last year it was the wrist, and Mike Florio was spazzing out because he gave honest answers about his wrist being sore sometimes. "oh my god, there must be something terribly wrong, cuz other quarterbacks would normally just say they're 100% good to go"
Can we get new owner plz?
The pacifying of Joe burrow continues,(Poor Joe) haven't played long enough this year to be so upset. Jamarr Chase should be the who's mad , Joe Burrow in and out of the lineup the last 3 years and having to play with the ghost of Joe Flacco. (Talking about YT privilege)
Amazing 😂😂😂😂😂
As a lifelong Bears fan who had to basically give up watching football for the past 10-15 years for my own sanity. I can totally empathize with Bengals fans. Cheap ownership and inept front office leading to the ruination of talents. I Still don’t watch the games even tho the Bears are doing well.
He can't be happy when the guy calling the plays keeps getting him hurt season after season. This season, there has only been one game the Bengals have ran the ball over 30 times. Defenses are loading up and sending 7,8 or 9 guys at a time after Burrow for 5 guys to block. As fast as these guys playing defense they are going to be hitting and hurting him. They will put him out of a game or out for the season if they get the chance. Taylor acts like, so what? So, Burrow got hurt. I still got my money. He's so arrogant and cocky about what's happening. It's sad for Burrow. He wants to play and Taylor keeps getting him hurt. Season after season. It's not the defensive coordinator, the offensive line, the defensive players. None of it. IT'S TAYLOR!!!!!!
Bengals fans are used to pain.
This Bengals front office hate is getting out of hand. Every year they say the Bengals just don’t do this, but then they do it. The said they would never give Joe that big of contract, they did. They said they would never resign both Chase and Higgins….then they did. They said they never trade….then they did for Flacco and traded Wilson to Dallas. I get it, the Bengals organization has been terrible but this isn’t the same one anymore. Joe himself changed it.
They spent a boatload on his 2 favorite receivers, so they couldnt bolster other parts of the roster
2:26 Bengals fan since 84 and ever since Mike Brown traded Boomer esiason and drafted Dave Klinger we have never been able to keep a quarterback Carson Palmer want it out because Mike Brown's too cheap to spend money on offensive line on the defense Joe burrow is now going through the exact same thing that Carson Palmer went through
Ladies and Gentleman, I give you Jay Cutler, 2025.
Wherever burrow is I’m there
Random theory. He wants to win, but was asked to lose to end up with better draft picks for next year.
I think he had a good grasp of what the Bengals were and will be but it didn't stop him from taking all that money. He makes more than 99% of earners on planet earth and we're debating whether he's happy? He can take his sulking, childish viewpoint and stick it!
The Brown family must be removed from the franchise. New ownership is the only way. The only constant that remains with the dismal team is the Browns.
Chiefs didn’t protect mahomes , we don’t talk about that. Their franchise failed him after his superbowls and didn’t protect him.
I'm from Cincinnati 1958-1961 but I have been basically stuck in Phoenix for a greater part of my life with the Cardinals here. They are similar to the Bengals but at least the Bengals have been to the Super Bowl 3 times in my life even though the Chicago Cardinals won the NFL Championship in 1947 . And,,, at least the Bengals didn't have Matt Leinart , a quarterback that didn't seem to ever be present at the game . I am 67 years old and the Bengals will probably deliver me a Super Bowl win in my lifetime , I have to live in the glory of some other cities teams that I have lived in like Seattle, Denver, and Oakland where I have lived for a short while. They have killed the pain and stopped the bleeding for me after living with the Bengals performances .
I almost NEVER agree with Brockman but I do on this one.
At least Jimmy Haslam is willing to pay his players. Not really a high bar comparing the Browns ownership to the Bengals.
This feels like a manufactured story to fill time. Brockman out here acting like a guy on talk radio saying stuff just to get people mad and call in to the show. There's got to be better news than this to chase right now.
Just hold on and wait a minute …
1. Peyton Manning left Indianapolis because he was CUT (to make room for the "next franchise QB," Andrew Luck. Manning did NOT leave because he "wanted" out.
2. Joe Montana left San Francisco because douchebag Coach George Seifert (Bill Walsh's successor) stated that Steve Young was his QB and he REFUSED to ALLOW 4-time Super Bowl winning franchise QB Montana to have even an OPPORTUNITY to COMPETE to regain his starting job (following injury) the next year in training camp
3. Tom Brady left New England because the relationship with Belichick was stale, had run its course, and Belichick wanted to get younger and cheaper at QB … not because he necessarily wanted out.
Someone remind Rich that they gave him “the roster” he asked for. Aren’t you pretty involved in the NFL? Lol Tee Higgins? Chase? Hendrickson? All requested. All signed. God how lazy can you be with some of this commentary
Joe burrow to Vikings
Brockman has made a soul-trade with a person who shouldn’t be commenting in public about anything NFL 😢
Steelers fan here, Tomlin for Joe Burrow straight up
I've been a Bengals fan since I was a kid in the 1980s. I'm not the least bit worried about Joe leaving this year or anytime soon. The Bengals will be great next year, with a top 5 offense and top 10 defense, and win multiple Super Bowls with the Bengals over the course of the next 10 years of his career.
Carr said "I'm a Raider for life" then got cut.
He seems to not fight to get back he is brittle I do not see his commitment
Also I hope he has the signing bonus
Money if he suits Mike Brown will sue him.
Also he wanted those Wide receivers
He got a pile where is the other money coming from?
This saje tyoer was in an LSU press conference for these reporters hace common sense ?
