I mean, I guess it’s time…
Not a bad return there if it happens
My boy Mangum gone as well as Montgomery.
Making room for Marte?
Can’t help but think this sets the table for more deals. Hope Brandon absolutely kills it, really going to feel weird without him(something I couldn’t imagine saying a few years ago because I didn’t think he’d make it this long)
Don’t live this tbh. Feels like making a move just to make a move, unless we swing another trade for Marte or another bat
So another “meh” version of Johnny DeLuca and blue chip strikeout arm. So nobody who will impact the big league club for a guy like B. Lowe.
Mangum is not allowed to hit well and be on the rays get rid of him now
If this is it then thank you king
Slapdick prospects again. The OF hit .157 and the pitcher has a 4 ERA in A ball.
Assuming this goes down, Unless the rays actually acquire a proven hitter between now and next season, it’s going to be a long long season. Removing 30 homers from an already punchless lineup is an interesting strategy for a team that intends to compete in 2026.
Why are people acting like this is good because it makes room for Marte? He brings the same exact stuff to the table as Lowe, but at a higher price. And Lowe will end up going to a shit team that has no competitive future because of Nutting.
I don’t see any upside to Marte over Lowe other a lower likelihood of injury. They play the same position, with very similar offensive profiles, but Marte is considerably more expensive. At this point just keep Lowe.
As if the Rays would even pay for Marte.
I see no names to make me hyped, and pissed to see mangum listed as a going away. Trading pur impact players for non-impact players of the rip is insulting to us
I sure hope the people saying this is clearing the decks for marte are preparing themselves for disappointment.
If they are not going to add a proven impact bat (and come on, we know they’re not), you might as well ship yandy out too while he’s got some trade value.
Son 😭😭😭😭😭
We need to be adding good hitters, not trading away the ones we have. The bottom 5 of the lineup is already going to be well below average, trading B Lowe would just make a bad offense even worse
This is lame, dude
Hurts to lose Montgomery. But I really like Jacob Melton. I’m curious to see if this finalizes.
Trading a dollar for some pennys
If this is a deal to clear room & add prospect depth to go get Marte I love it.
Lowe was probably going to be gone after this year anyway. Had to get return for him. I like the guy and I’ll miss him but this is the way we do business & stay competitive with a limited payroll. Plus, he has real health concerns. I’ve always said that Lowe should go before Yandy. You can replace power & a bat who isn’t great against lefties. You can’t replace a guy who wakes up and hits .290 with a great OBP.
Sucks that Montgomery didn’t develop into the elite back end of the pen arm that he could have & maybe still will. I like Mangum too but you simply can’t play Mangum & Simpson in the same OF together. Melton + Simpson is a much better combo than Simpson + Mangum.
Need to be patient and see how things play out. We have a million LHH OFs so there’s more coming. I’ll love this move if it allows us to go get Marte. Like it a little less if that doesn’t happen but understand the logic. Hopefully Melton plays out better than other acquisitions post-Bendix have and that Brito continues to develop.
Would love Bo Bichette or Ketel Marte, but I have a feeling it may end up being Arraez.
I’m having a hard time justifying the return on this. Someone tell me why the two players projected to us are a good thing please.
Just saw this same article on r/baseball. Alright contributors for slapdick prospects that will really improve attendance by getting rid of fan favorites. Figured the new owners would atleast try and get instant contributors for fan favorites, you know the players people pay to see.
We are trading an All Star 2B, a fan fave OF, and a potential closer for a 25 year old OF who batted .157 last year and a 20 year old reliever who is probably going to be a big project? How does this help us other than a salary dump? Don’t we have enough defensive OF’s who can’t hit?
I already don’t know how I feel about getting rid of Lowe to bring in Marte, but assuming we can get Marte why does that mean we have to give up Lowe, Mangum, and Montgomery for two mid players? I feel like if this goes through we’ll have been swindled. We can get more for Lowe.
Literally just bought a Mangum jersey you gotta be shitting me. Jacob fucking Melton and some slapdick pitching prospect? How do we trade 3 big leaguers for 2 “prospects” that won’t contribute at all in 2026??? This team doesn’t want to win.
I’m gonna miss his walk-up. I enjoyed how the Rays always made sure to play the line “you know I like my girls a little bit older” in Your Love.
Why??? This is so dumb. Pittsburgh wont be competitive and we are giving up another core guy. Im so sick of this team offloading their best talent. Hard to build an established fanbase when all the fan favs keep getting sent away
Is Brandon Lowe’s value that low?
Melton looks like nothing we don’t already have a ton of. Glove first outfielder who can’t hit a lick. And he’s already 25. Yippee.
Brito has reportedly has some great stuff, but he’s 5’10. Track record for someone of that height making it as a starter is not very good. Obviously you have some that buck the trend (Hudson, Pedro) but I don’t like the odds.
AND we threw in Montgomery? I know he was a massive disappointment this year, but giving away lefties with his kinda stuff can easilty come back to bite you. Remember Jose Alvarado?
