  1. Is there going to be any realistic answer other than Anthony “i think baseball is boring” Rendon?

  2. Sorting these lists by Total Value the entire time was just to set up placing Rendon fourth on this list today.

  3. People are obviously here to talk about Rendon, but man, Machado is owed another $300 million up until he’s age 40. He’s still really good but he’s lost bat speed recently and actually graded out negatively at third base the past 2 years. You have to feel like the Padres will end up way underwater on him.

  4. Yay! Good thing this goes away next year! I can’t say much about the rest of the bad contracts tho.

  5. Rendon is gonna win this because it has been a running joke, but I’m not convinced I wouldn’t be tempted to take Rendon’s contract over some of these other contracts as of this moment. At least with Rendon I’m done paying after this year.

  6. I would rather my team own the Rendon contract today than the Machado contract.

Manny has averaged just 3.3 WAR the last three seasons. He’s 33 years old and has eight years left, seven of them at $39M each.

  7. Machado has a 116 ops+ over the the last 3 seasons. He’s been a negative fielder the last 2 seasons, according to both statcast and bbref.

He’s still due another 8 years and ~$255m, and he’s only the 2nd worst contract on his team.
