The Winnipeg Jets are a Disaster
[music] What’s going on everybody and welcome back to another video. Today we’re going to be talking about the Winnipeg Jets and where they stand right now and why they are where they are in the standings. Really feels like the Jets this season have an inability to get out of their own way and be proactive. kind of seems like, you know, every other NHL team at this point kind of would have cut bait with some of the players that they signed this off season. Uh, you know, obviously we’ve talked about it for the majority of the year, you know, losing Nikolai Elers to free agency and [music] replacing him with players that have largely played just about no role, no impact, I think is a better word for it, on this team. And it has just been you know [music] a very very topheavy team of that top line of you know Kyle Connor, Mark Schiffley, Gabe Valardi [music] and then after that it has been a bunch of nothing for this [music] team. Connor Hella recently came back after being hurt and uh you know this was the first time in a long time that the Winnipeg Jets have had to try to survive without Connor Halabuk bailing them out night in and night out and they did not do too well. They did not win very many games in that stretch and they soared down the standings. They beat the hell out of Washington when Connor Hella came back 5 to1. It was without a doubt the Jets best game of the entire season. However, [music] you know, after that game, they go up against the lowly St. Louis Blues, a team that’s completely injuryriddled. [music] And what do they put up? Zero goals on the night. They made the Blues look like an actual contending team. And it was uh you know downright embarrassing to be totally honest with you. And we have been sitting here waiting for change for a while now this season. But it has been status quo from the Jets. There has been no talk, no movement. And uh that has been a big part of why they are where they are today. They’re too stubborn to get out of their own way. Now I see a lot of people talking about Scott Arneal and how he has to be fired, how he’s not, you know, breaking up the top line. and he’s not doing enough with the lineup that he has. I don’t put this on Scott or Neil really at all. I don’t think there’s a coach out there in the entire NHL that you could put behind the bench for the Jets right now and make them a scary team or at the very least a bubble playoff team. I don’t think there is a guy out there that exists that can help this team. You know, you can argue all you want about Scottal and how, you know, his lineup decisions haven’t been great or whatever. Um, but he has more or less tried it all except split [music] up Mark Shley and Kyle Connor. And, uh, that’s about the only way that I can see this team getting, you know, more than one line going. But at the same time, I kind of understand why he hasn’t been splitting those two guys up because you get absolutely zero offense from the rest of your lineup. You only have one line going a game. You know, are you going to sacrifice that line, right? like the only good thing that’s going for you right now outside of you know Connor Hllabuk and Josh Moresy that line has been fantastic and at times carrying this team to the few wins that they do have this season and you know it is just it’s just a really tough situation for Scott O’Neal and I thought that he you know had a really good quote here right at the end of this one saying you know he has to coach what’s in front of him kind of doesn’t feel like any help is coming from the Manitoba Moose doesn’t feel like there’s any lineup decisions coming. And uh you know, to be totally honest with you, with the production that they’ve gotten out of the players that they’ve signed, it’s been a little bit pathetic to see no moves being made by the Winnipeg Jets. And I’m not talking trades to add or anything like that. I’m talking about waving these players. What do these players bring you? What does Gustav Nyquis bring you? We are still waiting for Nikqua’s first goal as a Winnipeg Jet. [music] You know, he’s been scratched for games. He has not been good. Um, you know, it’s just been a disaster with him. Tanner Pearson, low-end fourthliner. [music] Uh, you know, both those guys are UFAS. Same goes with Jonathan Taves. He has been the biggest bust of the entire off season. Uh, you know, hands down leaguewide. The amount of hype that was around this guy and to get that kind of production out of him, a fourth liner, uh, you know, if his name wasn’t Jonathan Taves, there’s a really good chance that he would be, you know, in the press box at times, too. I don’t think we’re going to see that at any point because he is, you know, the hometown boy and everything like that. But, uh, Jonathan Taves has been playing miserably poorly. The only thing that you can really talk about Taves being good is, uh, you know, the faceoffs and, uh, you know, that’s there, but everything else just bad. Guy takes so many penalties, absolutely no impact defensively, offensively. Jonathan Taves is cooked. And [music] this Winnipeg Jets team, you know, as a whole, is cooked. Players that were injured just have not bounced back very well. Adam Lowry has one goal since his return. He’s been good. Has not been scoring goals. No production there offensively. He is not what he [music] was. Good thing he’s got a 5-year deal at $5 million, right? Coming off of hip surgery. I hope he’s able to figure that out at some point. [music] Cole Perfetti, same thing with uh, you know, his high ankle sprain. Has not looked himself. Uh, you know, as of late, kind of starting to improve a little bit. starting to notice him a little bit more, but uh definitely hasn’t been as impactful as a year ago. Not playing with players that should be in the top six, though, I might add. So, you know, that has to do with a lot of it as well. Um, you know, who else? Who else are we talking about here? Dylan Samberg been a shell of himself uh from a year ago. I don’t think that last year was a fluke or anything like that, but I don’t think that Dylan Samberg is 100% healthy. The guy is way too talented, way too smart to be playing the way that he is. just all around this lineup everywhere you look outside of those you know top top line guys Connor Hellabuk Josh Morrisy you know outside of those guys it has really been kind of bleak you want you want to throw in Logan Stanley’s goal scoring in there too you know whatever but it has just been a [music] really really tough watch and really just disheartening as a fan to watch the team uh you know go in the way that they are right now and you know them being bad is fine you know I’m not saying like oh I mean no the Jets are bad, so they’re hard to watch. It’s not even that. It’s just, you know, every other organization would be splitting up Mark Shaley and Kyle Connor to try to, you know, get some offense going. Every single organization would be waving Gustav Nyquist, would be waving, you know, a Jonathan Taves. It’s it’s just disheartening. You [music] know, you have guys that are fiending for a position in the NHL, need to get minutes to grow in the NHL, can’t really grow too much more in the AHL [music] and you’re just not giving them the time because, you know, you prefer the veteran presence here. This is absolutely on Kevin Shevel day off what has happened to the Jets this season. [music] I know there’s a lot of people that stand up for him and say, “Hey, he’s got the hardest job in the NHL.” Well, [music] you know, you know, if that is true, he does a really poor job at it. That’s just the the fact of the matter. We’ve never been able to see another GM here in Winnipeg. It would be great, uh, you know, to see another GM here. I would love to see somebody else take over here because the last calendar year for Kevin Chevel off, every other general manager in the NHL would be at least on the hot seat, if not canned at this point. And it uh, you know, this is just something that’s been going on for too long here in Winnipeg. And uh [music] you know I don’t see a light at the tunnel outside of the draft lottery. The draft lottery could definitely save them. They don’t have to go full rebuild, but uh they definitely do need a difference maker in this draft. And uh you know might end up being one of the most important players this franchise has seen since relocation. This team is cooked and uh I’m not even going to ask you guys if you think the Jets are cooked. I’m telling you the Jets are cooked this year. There is not going to be any playoffs [music] and uh at this point we will be taking a look at the prospect board for the rest of the year. This is a very good NHL entry draft this season headlined by Gavin McKenna and Katon Veroff. [music] I hope the Winnipeg Jets are able to get one of those guys. a number one centerman would be ideal and they really do need a franchise altering player to slot into their lineup because they need a franchise altering move and I just don’t think that Kevin Chevel off is going to be providing one or making too many changes here. I think it’s going to be status quo for a while here in Winnipeg and it’s going to lead them even further down the standings if things keep going the way that they’re going. But what do you guys think about how this year’s been handled? I want to hear from you guys. So, leave your thoughts down below. Uh, that’s really all I got, guys. Leave a like and subscribe to [music] the channel if you haven’t already. We’ll see you guys in the next one. Go Jets Go. Bye-bye.

I just don’t get why we thought Tanner Pearson Gustav Nyquist and in ageing Jonathan toews would help us get better when we lost Nikolaj Ehlers and not even playing the rookies for more than a couple games at a time
It isnt about replacing Arniel with a coach that can make the playoffs, thats not the point. Its about not tolerating failure to at least tread water 1 year after a Presidents' trophy win. Peter Laviolette was fired last year for doing exactly that, and if we replace Arneil then maybe there's a chance guys like Lambert, Chibrikov, and Salo can get a real chance instead of being buried behind Fossils like Schenn, Nyquist, and Pearson, because there's no way chevy is explicitly telling Arneil to play these guys over prospects. 2021-2022 saw guys like Samberg, Barron, and Perfetti get a chance when we were clearly out of the playoffs, this year it could be Lambert, Yager, Salomonsson, or someone else who breaks through. Arneil might not be 100% at fault, but we need the change to ensure the future of this team.
To be a Jets prospect is to be living in eternal limbo
dump the dead wood now and bring up 3 or4 young ones and keep them up this season is over Don Jones winnipeg
They are bad this year. Nothing like last year. I don’t understand why we pick up old guys that can’t score anymore. They should make some trades with Vancouver. At least those players are younger!!
If y’all are hating on nyqust so hard you obviously aren’t watching the penalty kill.
Major curb stomping coming tonight. Though i guess you never know forsure
Can’t and won’t play any young prospect smh
Perfetti need skilled players around him, trade Chevy
In the New year shed the unproductive old guys and play the youts. This year's playoff hopes are dying quickly.
