COLIN COWHERD SAID WHAT?!? | New York Giants News

You are not going to believe what Colin Coward just said. Or I guess you might considering some of the stupid things he’s been saying recently. Before I share what he said on his show today, I want to hear from you in the comment section. Which quarterback would you rather have over the next 10 years? Sound off in the comment section for me. This is New York Giants Now by Chat Sports. I am your host, Marshall Green. Appreciate everybody for stopping by. I want to say this, Colin Cowardd is one of my idols in this business. Not because I always agree with what he says, but I think when he speaks, he’s entertaining. He can be informative and you know what? Sometimes go against the grain. And when you do those things, sometimes you say things you don’t actually mean and you don’t and sometimes you say things that don’t really make all that much sense. And this is what he said. The New York Giants right now would have the number one pick. You trade Jackson Dart. You take the 6’5 and a half inch Fernando Mendoza. Absolutely. I think Mendoza is about as good a prospect as you’re going to get. I mean, he’s humble. I talked to an NFL coach about him. I said, “This person may need a quarterback, but won’t be able to get Mendoza who will go number one. He won’t be able to move up.” And he said he also is such an easy player to scout because Indiana runs proconcepts. So, you will know watching his film the throws he can and cannot make. His tape was easy to comp because of these Big 12 guys like Mahomes. You knew he was talented, but you’re like, “What in the hell is that offense?” He goes, “Mendoza, like they run proconcepts. It’s one day of watching film.” You’re like, “Oh yeah, oh yeah, he can make that throw, that throw, that throw, the throw out of the audible, that throw.” He goes, “He’s the easiest guy to scout ever.” I mean, are we effing serious? Are are we actually doing this? I saw a couple of beat reporters put out an article a couple of days ago talking about this and I didn’t even want to address it on the show, but you know what? I’m putting my foot down. And if you think, and I hate saying this, if you think the Giants should trade Jackson dart and select Fernando Mendoza with the number one overall pick, you are a part of the problem. Yeah, you are. The only reason that Colin Coward just said the Giants should take Moz and Trey Dart is cuz he’s 6’5 and a half. His film was easy to scout and he ran a pro offense in college. Who’s the last quarterback that ran a pro style offense in college that had success at a high level in the NFL? And I’ll even take it a step further. What the hell even is a pro style offense anymore? Because when you watch games on Sundays, they’re starting to look a lot like the games on Saturdays. And how convenient for Colin Coward to say the Giants should trade Jackson Dart and select a new quarterback when you just have to flip the clock back two months ago when he said this about Jackson Dart. Confident, athletic, slippery, big boy NFL throws. That is an NFL franchise quarterback. saying he thinks the Giants found their quarterback of the future. It’s the classic Colin Coward. I’m going to make sure I’m good on this side. I’m going to make sure I’m good on that side. And LeBron, it’s okay. We don’t need you anymore. We got Ben Simmons now. I I really like Colin Coward. I think he is going to go down as one of the best to ever speak into a microphone when focused on sports. But I it is it is ludicrous. Shout out Luda. It is ludicrous that you would even utter these type of words. And let’s just go to this. John Mara would never ever do this. You think John Mara would go and hire a general manager whose pitch to get the GM job would be, “Yeah, we’re going to Trey Jackson Dart, the quarterback that just won rookie of the month. the quarterback that has put up awesome stats in his rookie year, that won you some games you shouldn’t have won, that has checked all of the boxes outside of not going into the concussion tent too often, which he’s gone four times, and zero of those four times he’s actually had a concussion. Dart has been awesome this year, ladies and gentlemen. Like, think about it like this. What is the couple What are the couple of things Jackson Dart needs to work on in the off season? Not getting hit. not getting concussions. Like, what else can you say? I would say maybe he needs to work on his footwork in the pocket. Not so much being able to move in the pocket. I mean, marrying his upper half and his upper half of throwing mechanics to his lower half throwing mechanics. I feel like if he tightens up his footwork and mechanics there, he could add more arm strength and he could throw the ball down the field further and with more velocity. But in nine games started, he’s got 13 passing touchdowns, just four interceptions, completes almost 63% of his passes, and he has 11 rushing touchdowns as well. Every reason that you pick Jackson and everything you hoped he would have been, he’s been that and more. If you stretch out the stats he put out, nine games over a 17game season, it would be 24 passing touchdowns and 20 rushing touchdowns. You’re telling me you don’t want a quarterback that could put up 44 touchdowns for your offense in his first season in the National Football League? Come on, man. And on top of all that, he’s doing this without his number one wide receiver. He’s doing this without his best friend, rookie star running back behind him. Imagine if his wide receiver one could catch the football and it wasn’t Darius Sllayton. And all due respect, his number two receiver wasn’t a very limited but talented and productive Wandel Robinson. And imagine if he didn’t have Mike Kfka calling the plays. Imagine if he was in a good system. It’s ridiculous. The dude went to Denver against the best defense in the National Football League and hung 33 head 33 points on their head. He went and beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football when everyone was saying the Eagles look like the team that were going to go backto back. He went and beat Harbaugh and Herbert on his first NFL start. I understand he hasn’t won a lot of games. It’s not his fault. Like imagine if the Giants defense could get a stop to win the ball game and get off the field. Like imagine if they could one time do it. How different the conversation could potentially be of Brown. And the conversation is if you actually talk to people that are calculated in the way they think that Jackson has been an uber success in his rookie year. Let’s nerd out a little bit here. Let’s talk about EPA per play. How many points do you add to your team’s total on an estimated basis per play? Jackson Dart would be the 13th best quarterback in the NFL. 13th guys. 0.14 estimated points added per play. That’s ahead of Bon Knicks. That’s ahead of Jaylen Herz. That’s ahead of Lamar Jackson. That’s ahead of Baker Mayfield. That’s ahead of Justin Herbert. That’s ahead of Caleb Williams. That’s ahead of Bryce Young. Like, are we serious? He’s been the 13th best quarterback on EPA per play basis this year. He’s number two on EPA per third downs. And then if you want to look at this composite QB rankings, that kind of creates an overall score that blends total QBR, EPA per play, completion percentage over expected, percent of bad throws, a percent of pressure to sack, air yards per reception, Jackson D is 16th. And if you’re telling me the New York Giants rookie quarterback without Malik Neighbors, without Cam Scataboo in his rookie season is the 16th best quarterback in the NFL, I’ll take that. Like look, Mendoza might be the real deal. But Jackson Dart has already shown that he is the real deal. There’s a difference between might and hope and could and should and would. Then been there, done that, won prime time games, put the team on my back, put together an 80 yard drive in Denver to go ahead with under 45 seconds to go. And I’m not trying to poo poo Mendoza. Let’s not forget how good Jackson Dart has been this year. I cannot believe that this is a real talking point, not just among Colin Coward, but there’s been an article written by Giants beat reporters, not saying that they should do this, but entertaining the idea of it. And now when you load up Giants Twitter, Giants Facebook, Giants Instagram, Giants Tik Tok, there are people in Giants YouTube that want Fernando Mendoza over Jackson Dart. It is an absolute joke. And even if let’s say Mendoza is the ninth best quarterback in the NFL one day and Jackson Dart would be the 12th best quarterback in the NFL one day. It would still be better to hold on to Jackson Dart, trade down from the number one overall pick, secure a Kings ransom and build around Jackson Dart. The Giants are like a boat that is sinking because of the amount of holes that they need to plug and fill this off season. And if you’re going to use that number one pick to take a quarterback, which you’ve already got good production from this year, that means you’re limiting the amount of resources you can get by trading down from the number one pick. had two first rounders this year, a second rounder this year, and potentially a firstrounder in the future to fill five holes while not trading a quarterback to create a hole to fill a hole. A lot of hole filling talk right there. But I think you catch my drift on that. You’re telling me that if you could get the number one pick and trade down and add a second round pick and a first round pick and a second round pick and a wide receiver too, you would rather not do that and trade Dart who’s proven he’s good for a question mark in Mendoza. Go rob the Jets. Go rob the Raiders. Go rob the Cardinals. We think Mendoza is that good? That means you can get an even even bigger trade package to trade down. Like I like listening to Colin Coward. He’s lost his fast ball. It’s ridiculous that he would utter this two months after saying the Giants found their franchise quarterback. Unreal. That’s my quarterback. I love Jackson Dart. If you’re riding with Jackson Dart as the quarterback of this football team, go down right now, hit that thumbs up icon, and make sure you are following me on social media. I’m on Twitter. – Do you agree with Colin Cowherd’s idea to trade Jaxson Dart and select Fernando Mendoza? Type ‘Y’ for Yes or ‘N’ for No | Which quarterback would you rather have? Type 'JD' for Jaxson Dart or 'FM' for Fernando Mendoza

  2. Would i as the GM make that trade? No, but we suck guys. I feel like everything should be on the table and at least have the conversation. Darts health scares the shit out of me

  3. If, scouts can watch college film and see what throws he can and can't make so will Defensive Coordinator's in the NFL. That was not a good point. lol

  4. I think Cowherd needs to go into concussion protocol because he definitely hit his head on something. Trading Dart has got to be the dumbest thing I’ve heard this football season.

  5. the only reason we’ve had any success is because jaxson and his legs are lethal
    mendoza has no mobility
    he’s a pocket passer
and let’s face it we don’t have the receivers to create space for a pocket passer

  6. Lol, I agree with Cowherd. Unless Dart can transition into a primary pocket passer, he will never have longevity in the NFL, and I don't think he's built for the punishment he will take in the pro-game. We should go for a prototypical QB while we have the chance, imo. I think Dart would bring a haul of picks also.

  7. If dart is not going to change his way of playing which he said he's not why wouldn't the Giants think about trading him for 2 1st round picks on top of them having the number one pick they could trade dart for 2 number ones and they could trade the number number 1 pick for 2 number ones and they could have 4 number ones love rb Tyson wr Moore qb and a te from Oregon. You just build your offense and made it tremendous with the rest of your draft picks you can fix the defense not a bad idea I thought about that weeks ago.

  8. Told you New York Giants fans ruin QBs this talk of Trading Jaxson Dart among commentators and fans will really help with his attitude and willingness to play for this team. Not! Daniel Jones you could see was mentally defeated now let's do that to Dart what a great idea.

  9. So if the Giants got 4 number ones you wouldn't do that how am I the problem you're the problem cuz you have no idea what the hell you're talking about because I'll take 4 number 1 over dart any day because you could build a whole team. And there's 2 quarterbacks on the board the kid from Oregon and the cave Indiana that has a potential to be better than dark because they won't put themselves in Danger.

  10. He is what he is I guess you never watched my old miss because that was his problem in old miss he was a knucklehead he threw off his back foot way too much he depends on his running ability too much he's not a really great pocket passer Mendoza is elite his footwork is elite
